Ubisoft Connect offline play is possible for some games, but it is not universal. Before disconnecting, sign in to the correct Ubisoft account, finish installing and updating the game, launch it successfully online, and test the same launch route with Wi-Fi disabled or Ethernet unplugged. A launcher that is offline does not guarantee that a particular game, DLC entitlement, or online feature will work without a connection.
What Ubisoft Connect offline mode actually means
There are three separate situations that are often confused:

- Deliberate offline mode: Ubisoft Connect is instructed to start without contacting its servers.
- Cached offline startup: the PC has no internet connection and the launcher attempts to use a previously remembered account session.
- An offline-capable game: the game itself permits local play without an active server connection.
These are not interchangeable. Ubisoft Connect may appear offline while the game still requires an online license check, activation, subscription verification, or server-dependent feature.
Ubisoft describes Connect as its PC launcher and account service, with features including friends, chat, rewards, and cross-progression. Availability varies by game and platform. See the official Ubisoft Connect overview and the official PC download page.

Can your Ubisoft game work offline?
Do not assume that every Ubisoft game with a single-player campaign works offline. Offline behavior can depend on:
- The specific game and edition.
- Its DRM and authentication design.
- Whether it was bought permanently or accessed through a subscription.
- The purchase platform, such as Ubisoft Connect, Steam, or Epic Games Store.
- Whether the game has already been activated on this computer.
- Installed DLC and whether that content has been authenticated.
- Online-only modes or persistent-world systems.
Use the game’s official store or support page as the final authority. Ubisoft’s general Connect page does not provide a universal offline-compatibility list.
As one title-specific example, Ubisoft says Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced requires an online connection to install but can otherwise be played offline. That statement should not be generalized to every Ubisoft release.

Prepare Ubisoft Connect before disconnecting
The safest method is to prepare and test offline play while you still have internet access for recovery.

- Install the official Ubisoft Connect PC launcher from Ubisoft’s download page.
- Sign in to the Ubisoft account that owns or provides access to the game. If you bought the game on Steam or Epic, confirm that the linked Ubisoft account is the one normally used to launch it.
- Complete the installation. Do not rely on offline mode for a game that still has files, patches, or required components to download.
- Install pending launcher, game, and DLC updates while online.
- Launch the game online through its normal route and reach the main menu or a playable, saveable state. This is the safest way to establish the local account and entitlement state, although the exact requirement varies by title.
- Confirm that required DLC is installed and recognized. Newly purchased or unauthenticated content may require another online check.
- Leave the account remembered. Do not sign out or delete launcher data before testing; doing so can remove the cached session needed for offline startup.
- Close the game and Ubisoft Connect normally.
- Test offline. Disable Wi-Fi or unplug Ethernet, then launch the game using exactly the same storefront and launcher combination you intend to use later.
If offline play fails during this test, reconnect while you can still update, sign in, or contact Ubisoft Support.
How to start Ubisoft Connect offline
Ubisoft Connect’s wording and menu location can vary by launcher build. The following are alternative paths, not guaranteed controls present in every current release.
Path 1: Use the visible offline command
- Open Ubisoft Connect while online and sign in.
- Open the account, profile, or main launcher menu.
- Look for Go offline, Offline mode, or similarly worded control.
- Confirm the change if prompted.
- Start the installed game from the Ubisoft Connect library.
User reports indicate that the control has appeared in different locations and has disappeared for some users after launcher changes. These reports are not a universal confirmation of the current Windows interface. See examples from the Ubisoft community and more recent user discussions.

Path 2: Use the login-screen settings
Some launcher states expose offline startup from the login screen:

- While online, sign out of Ubisoft Connect if you need to reach the login screen.
- Reopen the launcher.
- Open the gear icon or Settings on the login screen.
- Look for an option resembling Start Ubisoft Connect in offline mode.
- Enable it, then use the locally remembered account if the launcher permits it.
- Start the game.
This is a build-dependent path reported by users rather than a stable, universally documented Ubisoft instruction. If signing out removes the only cached login, reconnect and sign in again before relying on it.
Path 3: Disconnect first and let Connect fall back
If the launcher was prepared online, you can also:
- Exit Ubisoft Connect completely, including its system-tray process.
- Disable Wi-Fi or unplug Ethernet.
- Open Steam or Epic Games Store if that is your normal purchase and launch route.
- Start Ubisoft Connect or the game.
- Choose an offline or retry-without-connection option if one appears.
This is a fallback, not the preferred preparation method. It can fail when the cached session has expired, an update is pending, or the game requires a fresh online check.
Launching a game bought through Steam or Epic
A storefront purchase can create a two-launcher dependency:

- Ubisoft Connect opens and verifies the linked Ubisoft account.
- The game starts only if both launch steps accept the current offline state.
Steam or Epic offline mode does not automatically override Ubisoft Connect authentication. Before disconnecting, test the complete route:

- For a Steam purchase, test Steam offline together with Ubisoft Connect offline.
- For an Epic purchase, test Epic offline together with Ubisoft Connect offline.
- Use the same Ubisoft account that was linked during the successful online launch.
- Do not assume launching the executable directly will bypass Ubisoft Connect.
If the normal storefront route works online but fails offline, the failure may be at either launcher or at the game’s own entitlement check.

Even an offline-capable game will normally lose services that depend on Ubisoft’s servers, including:
- Multiplayer and co-op.
- Online leaderboards, statistics, and challenges.
- Friends, chat, and presence information.
- Cloud-save synchronization.
- Online rewards and account management.
- Store access and newly purchased content.
- Server-dependent game modes.
- Subscription entitlement checks.
Permanent ownership is generally a stronger offline candidate than temporary subscription access, but it is not a guarantee. Ubisoft+ access may require entitlement verification, so do not promise offline access without title-specific confirmation.
While offline, treat saves as local saves. Reconnect and allow synchronization to finish before switching to another computer, reinstalling the game, or continuing the same save elsewhere. Otherwise, newer offline progress may not yet exist in the cloud.

If the offline option is missing
A missing button does not by itself prove that offline play was permanently removed. Try this order:
- Do not clear cache folders or sign out immediately. You may destroy the cached-login state needed for offline startup.
- Reconnect temporarily. Sign in to the correct account and confirm that the game is present in its library.
- Update Ubisoft Connect and the game. A partially updated or outdated launcher can behave differently offline.
- Launch the game successfully online through the same storefront route you normally use.
- Check the login-screen gear or Settings menu for an offline-start option.
- Check the account or profile menu for Go offline or Offline mode.
- Close the programs normally, disable the network, and retry.
- Check the game’s official requirements for mandatory online authentication or online-only features.
- Contact Ubisoft Support if the game is owned but cannot be authenticated.
Do not edit launcher configuration files, block Ubisoft services with firewall rules, download modified launchers, or use unofficial activation tools as a first-line solution. Those approaches can create licensing, malware, account, or save-data problems.
Common failures and first fixes

Returning to online mode
- Reconnect Wi-Fi or plug Ethernet back in.
- Open Ubisoft Connect and sign in if prompted.
- Allow launcher, game, and DLC updates to finish.
- Open the game or launcher and wait for cloud synchronization to complete.
- Only then switch devices, reinstall the game, or continue the save elsewhere.
Important limits and exceptions
There is no verified universal number of days for which every Ubisoft Connect game remains available offline. Do not apply offline-duration rules from another publisher’s launcher. Likewise, a specialized Ubisoft Escape Games emergency mode with a stated time limit is not general guidance for ordinary Ubisoft Connect PC games; its documentation concerns a different system.

Offline play can also stop working after a major update, a hardware or account change, a new DLC entitlement, a launcher update, or an expired authentication state. That is why the most reliable rule is simple: prepare online, then test offline before you actually need it.
