Save progress within each Oracle game using that game’s own save feature. To carry selected progress from Oracle of Ages to Oracle of Seasons, or vice versa, complete one game and enter its password when starting a linked game in the other. On Nintendo Switch, suspend points let you resume a session, but they are separate from the password link between the games.
How do saving and transferring work?
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons are separate games, originally released for Game Boy Color in 2001. Each has its own in-game save. Linking the two is a different process: after completing one, you receive a password to use in the other. Nintendo describes the password as a way to continue the adventure between titles (Oracle of Seasons; Oracle of Ages).
The password does not copy a general save file. It starts a linked adventure in a new file, carrying selected details and progress-related content into the other game.
How do I transfer progress between Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages?
- Complete your first game: either Oracle of Ages or Oracle of Seasons.
- When the completed game provides its password, write it down accurately.
- Open the other Oracle game and choose an unused file at the file-selection screen.
- Select SECRETS, then enter the password from the completed game to begin the linked adventure.
The scanned Oracle of Ages manual describes this password route at the file-selection screen. Nintendo says the linked adventure retains the hero’s name, starts with additional items, brings back characters encountered in the first game, and includes an additional final boss (Oracle of Seasons; Oracle of Ages).

How do I save and resume on Nintendo Switch?
Both Oracle games are available in the Game Boy Nintendo Classics library. With access to that library through an active Nintendo Switch Online membership, you can use the app’s suspend-point feature to create and load a saved emulator state. Nintendo’s support instructions explain the controls through the Suspend Menu (Game Boy games on Nintendo Switch Online; creating and loading suspend points).
A suspend point is for resuming play in that emulated game. Nintendo’s cited guidance does not describe it as a way to transfer progress between Ages and Seasons; use the in-game password to start a linked game in the other title.

Can I link the games with a Game Link cable?
The scanned Oracle of Ages manual also describes a GAME LINK option for original hardware, requiring two Game Boy Color systems, both game cartridges, and a compatible Game Link cable (Oracle of Ages manual scan). This is a legacy hardware option; the password method does not require a cable.

Use the individual game’s own save feature to preserve progress in that cartridge or platform version. The manual scan cited here does not establish the exact save-and-quit button sequence, and the condition of an individual original cartridge’s save hardware can vary. Do not assume an old cartridge will retain data reliably without checking it.
