In the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4, choose the “Save Painter Neal” goal in San Francisco. Cross the grass to the path near the statue, ride partway up, turn back toward the statue, then jump onto the wire and grind around it to finish the challenge.
Steps to save Painter Neal
- Select the goal: Start the “Save Painter Neal” objective in the San Francisco level.
- Reach the path: From the goal’s starting area, cross the grass to the nearby path by the statue.
- Turn toward the statue: Ride about halfway up the path, then turn around so you are facing the statue. The wire should now be visible.
- Grind the wire: Jump onto the wire and grind around the statue. Completing the grind finishes the challenge.

This route is for the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 objective in San Francisco. Do not substitute instructions for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4: its Painter Neal sequence uses different actions involving wires and a sphere, as described in PCGamesN’s THPS 3+4 guide.
