To change a 24/7 YouTube bhajan stream to morning aarti, schedule the live event in YouTube Studio, then set the playlist handoff in the separate playback or automation system feeding your encoder. YouTube Studio’s scheduled-event workflow does not document an automatic playlist switch. Set the handoff for the temple’s actual aarti time in India Standard Time (IST), rehearse it, and check the feed in YouTube Live Control Room.
What YouTube Studio schedules—and what it does not
A scheduled YouTube Live event gives viewers an upcoming event and watch-page URL. The ongoing video and audio still have to come from an encoder connected to YouTube with the event’s stream URL and stream key. The encoder can be software or standalone hardware. The bhajan-to-aarti transition is a different task: configure it in the playback or automation system supplying that encoder. YouTube’s documented event-scheduling steps do not provide a playlist-switching control for a live event. YouTube’s encoder setup guide describes the event and encoder workflow.
Do not confuse a live-event schedule with scheduling an uploaded video to become public. YouTube’s scheduled-publishing feature applies to a private uploaded video and a chosen publication time and timezone; it is not a way to switch content inside a running livestream. Set up the bhajan-to-aarti stream
1. Check channel eligibility and prepare the content
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days to livestream. Check eligibility before building the schedule. Prepare the regular bhajan rotation and the aarti playlist in the playback system you plan to use, and confirm that it can feed your encoder and make a timed switch.

Confirm that you have permission to use the recordings, performances, and any accompanying music in a livestream. A devotional song’s traditional status does not automatically establish that a particular recording is free to broadcast: the recording and performance may have separate rights. Resolve permissions for every track before going live.
2. Schedule the live event in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room.
- Choose Manage, then Schedule stream, and complete the event details.
- Save the scheduled event and use its watch-page URL to share the upcoming stream.
- Open the event’s stream settings and retrieve the stream URL and stream key for the encoder. Treat the key as a password: do not publish or share it, and reset it if it is exposed.
Menu labels may change as YouTube updates Studio, but the documented scheduling path is through Live Control Room’s Manage area. The scheduled event and the encoder’s continuous feed are connected parts of the broadcast, not the playlist scheduler.

3. Connect and start the encoder
- In your software or hardware encoder, enter the YouTube stream URL and stream key for the scheduled event.
- Set the encoder’s video and audio inputs to the output of your playback system. Verify that the correct bhajan rotation is playing before the event.
- Start the encoder and wait for the preview to appear in Live Control Room.
- Check the preview, audio, picture, and stream-health indicators. For the scheduled-event flow, click Go live in Live Control Room when you are ready to begin.
YouTube recommends setting up at least two hours before the event, starting the encoder at least 15 minutes beforehand, checking the preview, and monitoring stream quality. These are preparation recommendations, not a guarantee against outages. The guidance is in YouTube’s live-streaming tips for computer encoders.
4. Configure the aarti handoff in the playout system
- Choose the actual morning-aarti time for the temple or broadcast, rather than assuming one hour applies throughout India.
- Set that time in the playback or automation system that controls the content sent to the encoder. Use IST, and confirm how the system handles its timezone and recurring schedules.
- Set the transition from the regular bhajan rotation to the aarti playlist. If the service offers a transition or overlap option, choose and test the behavior you want rather than assuming the change will be seamless.
- Rehearse the scheduled change in advance. Confirm both what the playback system sends and what viewers see and hear in YouTube’s preview or live feed.
The handoff configuration is in the playout layer, not the YouTube event schedule. The YouTube documentation cited here does not specify a playlist automation service or guarantee how a third-party system handles IST, recurring schedules, or transitions.

Choose a feed method that fits the schedule
YouTube recognizes both software encoders and standalone hardware encoders; it does not rank one as better for this use. Whichever you choose, verify that your playback workflow can feed it, remain running for the intended schedule, and provide a way to monitor and recover the feed. Playlist switching still needs to happen in the separate playback or automation layer.
- Software encoder: appropriate when your playback system can send its output to encoder software and the computer and connection can stay available for the broadcast.
- Hardware encoder: an option when you prefer a standalone encoding device, provided the playback system can supply it and you have a separate way to schedule the playlist handoff.
Plan for a 24/7 run, archives, and continuity
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not establish archive behavior for a stream that continues beyond 12 hours. For a 24/7 channel, arrange separate recording or archive capability if you need a complete copy, and verify the platform’s behavior rather than assuming the entire continuous run will be saved.

A scheduled event and its encoder feed can also be interrupted by a connection or service failure. Decide who will monitor the broadcast, how the encoder or playout system will be restarted, and how you will confirm the resumed feed in Live Control Room. Rehearsing the playlist handoff alone does not test recovery from a dropped stream.

Troubleshooting
The event is scheduled, but no video appears
A scheduled event does not generate its own continuous feed. Check that the encoder is running, that it has the correct event’s stream URL and key, and that it is receiving output from the playback system. Wait for the preview in Live Control Room before using the scheduled-event Go live control.
The encoder preview appears, but the event is not live
For the scheduled-event workflow, starting the encoder and starting the YouTube event are separate actions. Check the preview and then select Go live in Live Control Room when you intend to begin.
The aarti playlist does not start at the expected time
Check the time zone configured in the playout system, its recurring-schedule settings, and the selected transition. Confirm that the automation controls the output feeding the encoder, then rehearse the change and verify it in the live feed. Do not try to correct this by changing the YouTube event’s scheduled start time unless the event itself is meant to start later.
The stream stops or the archive is incomplete
Check the encoder and playback system, restore the feed, and verify the resumed video in Live Control Room. Do not assume YouTube automatically archives a 24/7 run in full: its stated automatic archive coverage is for streams under 12 hours. Use a separate recording or archive plan if you need the complete broadcast.

Review the rights for the specific recording and performance, not only the underlying devotional composition. Replace or remove material you are not authorized to broadcast and obtain permission where needed. A playlist transition does not change the rights status of its recordings.
