To schedule a continuous prerecorded stream on YouTube, create a scheduled live event in YouTube Studio, then connect an encoder or streaming service that can play and loop your video or playlist unattended. Scheduling creates an upcoming event and watch page; it does not play a file or keep a live feed running by itself.
What scheduling does—and what it does not
A scheduled event gives viewers an upcoming stream page and the option to request a reminder. A separate encoder or streaming service must send the live audio and video to that event. YouTube’s encoder workflow uses a stream URL and stream key; the YouTube scheduling instructions reviewed do not describe a native file-looping control. Before choosing a setup, confirm with its provider that it supports your file format, playlist or loop, and unattended operation.
How to schedule a 24/7 live stream on YouTube
1. Check channel eligibility
YouTube says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Its getting-started guidance also says the streamer must be at least 16. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so activate it well before the planned start.
2. Create the scheduled event
- In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live.
- Open Manage and choose Schedule Stream.
- Reuse settings from a prior stream or create a new event. Set the title, audience, visibility, date, and time.
- Check the resulting upcoming watch page. Viewers may be able to select Notify me.
YouTube’s scheduling page also describes auto-start and auto-stop settings. When enabled, they let the encoder’s connection start or stop the stream; they do not supply the video content or make a file loop.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
3. Connect a file-capable encoder or service
- In the event’s Live Control Room, copy the YouTube stream URL and stream key.
- Enter both in the encoder or compatible streaming service. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it, and reset it if you believe it has been exposed.
- Configure the content source to play the intended recording or playlist continuously. Confirm that playback can run unattended and what the system does if the feed or network disconnects.
YouTube supports software and hardware encoders. Software on an existing computer may be sufficient; YouTube says it recommends professional-grade hardware for higher-production-value setups. No particular encoder should be assumed to support unattended prerecorded-file looping without checking its current documentation.
Video, audio, and network settings to check
Use a preset compatible with both your encoder and YouTube’s current settings. YouTube’s encoder guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video codecs in the documented context; AAC or MP3 audio; and a recommended two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds. Check the current YouTube table and your encoder’s compatibility before going live, rather than treating every listed codec as interchangeable in every workflow.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Protocol: YouTube recommends RTMPS, an encrypted extension of RTMP. HLS is an alternative for certain encoder and codec needs, with higher latency.
- Upload capacity: Check upload speed, not just download speed. Keep the total stream bitrate within available upload bandwidth; YouTube recommends 20% spare bandwidth.
- Viewer playback: YouTube transcodes live streams into output formats for viewers on different devices and network conditions. That does not remove the need to send a stable, compatible feed to YouTube.
Test before the scheduled start
Test the exact video, audio, encoder, and network you plan to use. YouTube recommends setting up an encoder at least two hours before an event and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time.
- Send a test feed with similar audio and motion to the planned program.
- Check stream health and messages in Live Control Room, then preview the stream.
- Open the watch page and verify that it is accessible with the intended visibility settings.
- Confirm that audio is present and correctly balanced, video is moving as expected, and the encoder is sending the intended content.
- If using a backup encoder or failover, test the handoff in advance rather than relying on an untested backup.
Choose a setup for continuous prerecorded programming
The key distinction is not simply software versus hardware: the chosen system must play the right file or playlist, remain unattended for the intended duration, and recover or alert you when something fails.

| Option or decision | What to verify |
|---|---|
| Software encoder | Whether it can play and loop your media, run unattended on the computer, and reconnect as needed. YouTube supports software encoders. |
| Hardware encoder | Whether the device supports your source and the required continuous or scheduled operation. YouTube supports hardware encoders and recommends professional-grade hardware for higher production value; it is not required for every creator. |
| File and playlist automation | Supported formats, sequencing or looping, unattended playback, and behavior after a disconnect. Confirm these with the encoder or service provider; YouTube’s scheduling instructions do not establish them. |
| Connection and resilience | RTMPS support, stream-health monitoring, backup or failover behavior, network capacity, and how you will notice an interruption. |
| Duration and archive | YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a continuous event longer than that will produce one complete archive. |
YouTube’s encoder list describes CamStreamer as an Axis-camera streaming application and says it supports continuous and scheduled streams. That camera-oriented description does not establish prerecorded-file playback, so verify its fit before considering it for this use.
Start, monitor, and end the stream
At the planned start, start the encoder so it sends the prerecorded program to the scheduled event. Monitor stream health, the watch page, and the actual audio and video—not just whether the encoder reports that it is connected. For a planned end, stop sending content from the encoder. YouTube’s stated automatic-archive rule applies to streams under 12 hours; plan separately if you need a replay of a longer continuous program.

Troubleshooting common problems
- The event page exists, but viewers see no live program: Scheduling made the event page, but the encoder is not sending a feed. Start the encoder and confirm it is connected to the correct event.
- The encoder cannot connect: Check that the stream URL and key match the event, that the key has not been reset, and that the encoder is configured for a supported protocol. Prefer RTMPS when supported.
- The video plays once and stops: The content source may not be configured to loop, or the encoder may not support unattended playlist playback. Verify those capabilities and settings with its provider.
- The stream is unstable: Check available upload bandwidth and total bitrate, leave the recommended 20% headroom, and inspect Live Control Room stream-health messages.
- The scheduled start is missed: Check the event’s date, time, visibility, encoder status, and auto-start setting. If relying on auto-start, verify its configuration rather than assuming scheduling starts the feed.
- A long stream has no complete single replay: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A longer event should not be expected to produce one complete automatic archive.
Copyright and channel-policy checks
Before looping a recording publicly, confirm that you have the necessary rights to every video, music track, and other included material. Replaying content continuously does not remove copyright obligations. Review YouTube’s current live-stream eligibility, copyright, and monetization rules for your channel and content; do not assume that a scheduled event or an encoder changes those rules.
