To run a prerecorded playlist continuously on YouTube for an Indian public holiday, schedule two things: the live event in YouTube Studio and the playlist feed in an encoder or cloud playout service. Scheduling a YouTube event alone does not make a regular playlist play as a continuous live stream. First choose the holiday calendar that applies to your audience, then align and privately test both schedules.
What you need to schedule
A 24/7 YouTube playlist has two separate parts:
- The YouTube live event: the watch page, title, visibility and scheduled start time viewers see.
- The stream feed: the video and audio sent to that event by an encoder or a cloud playout service. This is what plays and loops the prerecorded material.
You can supply the feed using encoder software on a computer, dedicated hardware, or a cloud service that plays uploaded videos. The computer and hardware route requires the local setup to keep running and connected; a cloud playout service runs the feed remotely. YouTube says, “For higher production value events, we recommend professional-grade hardware encoders.” That is YouTube Help’s recommendation for higher production value events, not a requirement for every stream.
Choose the right Indian holiday calendar first
“Public holiday in India” does not point to one calendar that governs every state, institution and audience. Match the calendar to the people you expect to watch: use the central or relevant state/UT calendar, or the calendar of a specific institution if that is your audience. The National Portal of India presents central and state/UT calendars; it says central holidays are based on a circular from the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. India Post separately publishes an all-India list and postal-circle choices, while the Supreme Court publishes its own institutional calendar.
Check the year and date against the calendar that applies before creating the event. For example, India Post’s 2026 all-India list gives Dussehra (Vijay Dashmi) as 20 October and Diwali (Deepavali) as 8 November. The Supreme Court’s 2026 institutional calendar instead lists Dussehra holidays from 19–24 October and Diwali holidays from 9–14 November. Those entries have different scopes; neither should be substituted for the calendar relevant to your viewers.

Check channel eligibility before you set a date
YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified, must have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the person live streaming must be at least 16 years old. Enabling live streaming for the first time can take up to 24 hours. Activate it well ahead of the holiday rather than relying on same-day setup.
Prepare the playlist and schedule
1. Clear the rights and order of every item
Use videos and audio you have permission to stream. Check the playlist order, transitions and intended end behavior. Confirm that the chosen playout tool is set to repeat the playlist or otherwise continue as intended, and set its end date or duration. Scheduler timezones, looping controls and end behavior vary by tool, so inspect those settings rather than assuming they match YouTube.

2. Create the YouTube event
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the live-streaming area to schedule a stream.
- Enter the event title, description, intended start time and visibility. For a private rehearsal, use a private or unlisted test event; set the holiday event to the visibility you want viewers to have.
- Use the event’s stream setup details to connect your encoder or playout service. Keep the stream key private: anyone with access to it may be able to send video to the event.
YouTube recognizes encoder streaming as one way to broadcast from a computer. Follow the setup instructions for the encoder or playout service you select; the exact controls and stream-key workflow depend on that tool.
3. Schedule the separate playout feed
- Add the prerecorded videos to your encoder or cloud playout service and arrange them in the intended order.
- Choose the YouTube event as the destination and enter its stream key where the tool requests it.
- Schedule the feed to start at the event’s intended start time. Check the scheduler’s timezone and compare it with the time shown for the YouTube event.
- Set looping, duration and end-date behavior explicitly. If the holiday broadcast should continue through a particular local date, verify how the tool treats that date and whether it stops at the beginning or end of it.
Run a private test before the holiday
Test the complete path—not just the event page—well before the scheduled broadcast. YouTube’s computer-streaming guidance recommends preparing and testing in advance, checking the Live Control Room preview, and monitoring audio and video during the stream. Google’s Live Streaming Guide also recommends testing the full setup privately in YouTube Studio.

- Start the encoder or playout feed and wait for the stream to appear in the Live Control Room preview.
- Check that the expected video and audio are present, in sync and at a usable level.
- Open the event from a separate viewer device or browser session and confirm the intended audience can access it. Check private or unlisted access using the appropriate account or link.
- Let the playlist run long enough to confirm its order, loop behavior and any transitions or end-of-playlist behavior.
- Verify that the event and feed show the same intended start time and that the playout tool has the right timezone and stop settings.
For a live holiday broadcast, monitor the stream while it runs. YouTube’s guidance calls for checking audio and video continuously; a scheduled start does not remove the need to watch for feed interruptions.

2. Encoder software or dedicated hardware
With a local encoder, your computer or encoding hardware sends the feed to YouTube. This gives you direct control over the encoding setup, but the streaming device, software and network connection must remain available throughout the broadcast. A hardware encoder is optional; YouTube recommends professional-grade hardware for higher production value events, not for every creator or playlist.
3. OneStream Live
OneStream Live documents a 24/7 prerecorded-video workflow for YouTube: add videos, connect the YouTube channel, enter stream details, choose to start now or schedule for later, and set a duration. According to OneStream’s help page, last updated 3 September 2026, this feature is YouTube-only, requires its Enterprise plan and has a maximum duration of 30 days per setup. Troubleshoot common scheduling problems
- Live streaming is unavailable: check channel verification, age eligibility and whether the channel has had a live restriction in the previous 90 days. If enabling live streaming for the first time, allow up to 24 hours.
- The event is scheduled but no video appears: the YouTube event is separate from the feed. Start or schedule the encoder or cloud playout service, confirm it targets the correct event, and check the stream key.
- The feed starts at the wrong time: compare the event time with the playout scheduler’s timezone and scheduled start. Do not assume the two tools use the same timezone.
- The playlist stops or does not repeat: check the playout service’s loop, duration and end-date settings, then confirm the behavior in a private test. YouTube’s scheduled event does not itself loop a playlist.
- The Live Control Room preview has no audio or video: inspect the encoder or playout output and confirm that the feed is reaching the event; test again before making the broadcast public.
- Viewers cannot open the event: check the event’s visibility and test access from a viewer device or account appropriate to its private, unlisted or public setting.
