Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →If YouTube’s verification SMS is not arriving on your Indian number, wait a few minutes and try the voice-call option if it appears. If neither arrives, try a different number or operator. YouTube says some operators may not support Google’s text or voice messages, but it does not name any Indian carrier as unsupported. Phone verification is required to enable live streaming; it is separate from any later checks for advanced features.
Why the YouTube verification code may be missing
YouTube can send its account-verification code by text message or voice call. A text may be delayed, including in densely populated areas or where an operator’s infrastructure is weak. YouTube also notes that some operators do not support Google text or voice messages. Its published help does not identify particular Indian operators or provide delivery statistics for India.
There is also an account limit: one phone number can be associated with no more than two channels per year. If YouTube says the number has reached that limit, waiting for a text or switching between SMS and voice call will not resolve it; use a different number.
Try these steps in order
- Check the number and country shown. Make sure the number is entered correctly and that the verification flow offers the intended country and number. YouTube’s help pages do not describe a special SMS workaround for India.
- Wait a few minutes. The code can be delayed. If you still have not received it, YouTube says, “If you haven’t, you can request a new code.” YouTube’s verification help explains the missing-code steps.
- Try a voice call. If the option is available on the verification screen, request the code by voice call instead of SMS. YouTube specifically recommends this after waiting a few minutes.
- Try another number or operator if neither method works. Operator support for Google text and voice messages can vary. YouTube recommends trying another number or operator; its documentation does not establish that any named Indian carrier is the cause.
- Respond to a limit message with a different number. YouTube allows a number to be associated with at most two channels per year. If that limit has been reached, use a number that has not reached it.
Phone verification is not the same as advanced-feature eligibility
Phone verification is necessary for live streaming, but it does not by itself guarantee access to every YouTube feature. In YouTube Studio, check Settings > Channel > Feature eligibility to see what is enabled for your channel. Some advanced features may also require sufficient channel history or ID or video verification where those options are available. See YouTube’s feature-access guidance.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For an India-based channel, YouTube’s phone-verification flow can unlock intermediate features and add a “phone verified” label to the channel’s About page, visible to users in India. YouTube says the label was introduced in connection with India’s Information Technology Rules, 2021. That label is distinct from SMS delivery troubleshooting and does not mean every advanced feature has been unlocked. Details are on YouTube’s India-based phone-verification page.
If verification succeeds but you still cannot start a live stream
- Return to Settings > Channel > Feature eligibility in YouTube Studio and check the status shown for your channel.
- Distinguish a phone-verification issue from an advanced-feature requirement. If Studio indicates that channel history or ID/video verification is required, follow the option shown there.
- If verification itself still fails, go back to the missing-code sequence: check the number, wait, use voice call if offered, and then try another number or operator. If the screen reports the two-channel limit, use a different number.
Or let it run in the cloud
Once your channel can go live, StreamNeo can keep an uploaded video or playlist streaming to YouTube without leaving a computer or home connection on. Upload your recording, add your YouTube stream key, and go live; StreamNeo loops the video from the cloud. It does not stream from a camera.
