Choose a one-time or recurring schedule and its time zone. While it is live, inspect the stream details page or Stream Health; afterward, review historical health sessions and Analytics for audience and delivery context. Wowza Streaming Cloud is the former product name; Wowza now calls the service Wowza Video.
Schedule a stream in Wowza Video
The current live-stream details page lets you create schedules when setting up a stream and add more after it exists. To manage an existing stream, open its live stream details page and select Schedules. The available schedule patterns and controls are described in Wowza’s current live stream details documentation.
Create a one-time or recurring schedule
- Open the stream: In Wowza Video, open the live stream details page for the stream you want to schedule.
- Open Schedules: Select the Schedules tab, then add a schedule.
- Choose the pattern: Set a one-time start and stop, a one-time start or stop, or a recurring schedule. For a recurrence, choose the days of the week and when the recurrence takes effect and ends.
- Set the time zone: For a one-time schedule, select the intended Time zone. Do not assume the schedule uses your current location’s time zone.
- Review and save: Check the date, time, recurrence, and time zone before saving. Return to Schedules to review the configured schedule.
For a simple future start, Wowza also describes Go live later, which schedules the stream to start on a future day and time. See the Wowza Video live stream overview for that workflow. The available documentation does not establish that this shortcut replaces every start-and-stop or recurring-schedule option.
Automate schedules through the API
If schedules need to be managed by software rather than one at a time in the UI, the Wowza Video REST API reference documents schedules that start and/or stop a live stream or transcoder once or repeatedly. Its schedule operations include creating, listing or retrieving, updating, enabling, disabling, checking state, and deleting schedules. Use the API reference for the applicable request details and authentication requirements; the documentation summarized here does not specify those implementation details.

Older Streaming Cloud documentation describes statuses such as Enabled, Disabled, and Expired, but it is legacy material. Treat those labels and old navigation as historical context, not confirmation of current Wowza Video UI wording.
Monitor a live broadcast
During an event, distinguish stream health from audience reporting. Stream health focuses on the incoming source and processing; Analytics provides audience and delivery context.

Check stream health on the details page
Open the live stream details page and inspect its real-time preview and statistics for connection, transcoding, and delivery. Wowza’s current details-page documentation says these metrics refresh every 10 seconds. In the Stream Health view, graphs show source-connection and transcoding information, including actual inbound bitrate, frame rate, keyframe interval, and frame size.
Inbound bitrate is the rate actually arriving from the source, not simply the bitrate configured in an encoder. If it differs from the configured value, use the health data alongside the encoder’s output settings and connection status to diagnose the source or network rather than assuming the configured rate is being received.

Use the account-level Monitor page cautiously
Wowza’s Monitor page documentation describes an at-a-glance view for up to three active streams, including inbound connection status, actual inbound bitrate, frame size, frame rate, keyframe interval, and unique-viewer counts, with links to individual health views. That page is labeled legacy, so confirm the current navigation and labels in your account before relying on click-by-click instructions. Its documentation also says updates pause while the page loses focus and resume when it regains focus.
Health graphs are diagnostic, not a guarantee that every brief disruption will appear. Legacy health guidance notes that short irregularities may not register between refreshes. Avoid treating an apparently smooth graph as proof that no momentary interruption occurred.

Review a completed stream
Inspect historical health sessions
On the stream details page, select a historical health session by its start time and duration; date and time filters can narrow the session search. Current Wowza documentation says health sessions for a given stream are visible for the last 90 days. Use the recorded inbound bitrate, frame rate, keyframe interval, and frame-size behavior to investigate source or processing patterns during the event.
Use Analytics for audience and delivery
Wowza’s current Analytics documentation lists viewer, device, rendition, country, and popularity information, and describes CSV export. Analytics auto-updates every 60 seconds, separate from the 10-second refresh specified for details-page statistics. “Unique viewers” depends on identifiers such as IP address and user agent, so it should not automatically be treated as equivalent to unique-viewer figures from another product or report.

Troubleshoot scheduling and monitoring
- The stream starts at an unexpected local time: Reopen the schedule and verify its selected time zone as well as the date and time. The schedule time zone, not an assumed viewer or operator location, determines the intended schedule.
- A recurring event does not run on the expected day: Check the selected days of the week and the recurrence’s effective start and end. Confirm that the schedule is enabled in the current UI; do not assume an old legacy status label is present.
- The source appears connected, but the received bitrate differs from the encoder setting: Compare actual inbound bitrate in Stream Health with the source’s configured output. The health value measures what is arriving, which can differ from the configured rate.
- The Monitor page seems stale: It is legacy documentation, and its described updates pause when the page loses focus. Return focus to the page and, if necessary, open the individual stream’s current details and Stream Health views.
- A brief interruption is missing from the graph: Health graphs may not capture short irregularities between refreshes. Use available historical sessions and other event records as context rather than treating the graph as a complete record of every moment.
- You cannot find an older event: Current documentation specifies a 90-day window for visible health sessions. Narrow the date/time selection within that period when searching.
