Schedule each YouTube Live event separately in YouTube Studio, then use a playlist to organize its replay and any suitable highlights. A playlist is not a scheduler that launches a sequence of live broadcasts. To choose a time students can actually attend, build the schedule around their local school hours and commitments—not a supposed nationwide after-school time.
Choose a time for the students you actually serve
There is no single official timetable that identifies when all Indian students are free. In its answer to Rajya Sabha Unstarred Question No. 2106 on 19 March 2025, the Ministry of Education said “school timings are determined by the respective State Governments based on local conditions and administrative requirements.” The answer did not set a nationwide 10 a.m. school start. It also said CBSE advises affiliated schools, including KVS and NVS schools, to follow State and Union Territory timing guidelines.
The National Curriculum Framework for School Education (2023) likewise says exact timings and subject order depend on local context. Its planning figures should not be treated as a universal daily timetable. School hours can also change: the Ministry’s 2022 heat-wave guidance said schools may start early and end before noon, and that hours may be reduced during heat conditions.
Make a local calendar before announcing a recurring slot
- Define the intended audience at a useful level: for example, a state or city, class or age group, and school shift. Avoid collecting unnecessary personal information from minors.
- Check the timetable or local guidance that applies to those students. Note regular school days, exam periods, holidays, and seasonal changes separately.
- Account for travel home, meals, homework, and other recurring commitments. Pick a repeatable time that avoids class hours and gives students a reasonable transition after school.
- Ask the community which candidate times work, then treat the first choice as a trial—not a nationally proven best hour. Review attendance and feedback across several sessions before adjusting.
Label the time zone in announcements, especially if viewers may be outside the target locality. YouTube recommends a consistent, sustainable schedule and communicating changes; consistency is useful only when the creator can maintain it.

Schedule each live event in YouTube Studio
For an encoder-based broadcast, YouTube’s workflow is YouTube Studio → Create → Go Live → Manage → Schedule Stream. You can reuse settings from a previous stream or create a new one.
- Open YouTube Studio, select Create, then Go Live.
- In Live Control Room, open Manage and choose Schedule Stream.
- Choose Reuse settings if the earlier stream’s configuration is appropriate, or choose the option to create a new stream.
- Enter the event details and schedule the broadcast. Check the event information before sharing it so viewers know which session they are planning to watch.
- Share the scheduled event’s watch URL with the audience. Scheduled events can appear as upcoming, and viewers can choose Notify me to receive a reminder.
For an encoder stream, YouTube uses a stream key and server URL to connect the encoder. Treat the stream key like a credential: do not publish or share it with viewers. If you are hosting on camera through YouTube’s webcam workflow, selecting a webcam and microphone is part of that production setup, not a requirement for scheduling an event or creating a playlist.

Use a playlist for replays, not to launch live events
Schedule each broadcast as its own event. After it ends, decide whether the archive should remain public, then add the replay and any suitable highlight clips to the relevant playlist. YouTube recommends organizing live-stream archives and highlights this way so viewers can find and revisit them.
Keep the archive understandable
- Use clear titles that distinguish the subject, grade level, date, and session number where relevant.
- Place replays in the playlist that matches their subject or series, and keep the ordering useful to a student who is catching up.
- Check the visibility of each archive before relying on the playlist as a public replay library.
- Only stream or publish material you have the rights to use; a scheduled event or playlist does not grant permission to use copyrighted content.
A webcam or microphone may be useful if the session includes an on-camera host, but neither is necessary merely to schedule a live event or arrange its replay.

Review the cadence and troubleshoot common problems
If the scheduled event is missing or the link is wrong
Return to YouTube Studio’s Create → Go Live → Manage area and confirm that you scheduled the intended event. Share the watch URL for that event, not an old event or a playlist link when you mean to announce a live broadcast.
If the encoder will not connect
Check that the encoder is using the stream key and server URL for the scheduled event. If you reused settings, verify that the reused configuration is the one you intended. Keep the key private while checking or replacing connection details.

If students cannot attend consistently
Compare candidate times against the actual school calendar and the audience’s reported availability. Recheck exam dates, holidays, school-shift changes, commute time, and seasonal notices rather than assuming the audience has a fixed national schedule. YouTube recommends communicating schedule changes and choosing a frequency and format that remain sustainable.
