You cannot change Minecraft’s world spawn without command permissions. A bed is the no-cheats alternative only if you mean your own respawn point: it does not change where players return by default.
World spawn and your respawn point are different
World spawn is the world-level location players return to by default if they die without another valid respawn point. A bed sets a personal respawn point for the player who uses it. Minecraft explains the distinction in its guide to spawning and dying.

Set your personal respawn point with a bed
- Place a bed in a safe location.
- Use or sleep in the bed to set your respawn point. Minecraft displays “Respawn point set” in chat when it succeeds.
- Keep the bed usable. If you move it, the old respawn point becomes unusable and you return to world spawn instead. Place and use a new bed to set your point at the new location.
This works without enabling cheats, but it affects only your own respawn point—not the world spawn.
Change the world spawn with command permissions
Minecraft documents /setworldspawn [x] [y] [z] as the way to set world spawn. Enter coordinates to choose a location; without coordinates, the command uses your current location. The command requires suitable permissions. On a multiplayer server you do not control, ask the owner or an operator to grant access.

To enable command use in single-player, the settings depend on edition. Minecraft’s commands guide gives these paths:
- Bedrock: Open the world’s Game settings and turn on “Allow Cheats.” Enabling cheats permanently disables achievements for that world, even if you later turn cheats off.
- Java: Choose “Allow Commands” when creating the world, or enable it afterward in World Options.
Once you have permission, run /setworldspawn at your current location or include the desired coordinates. The command changes the world-level spawn; it is not the same as setting a bed respawn point.

Check your edition and version before relying on behavior
Command details can vary by edition and version. For example, the Java Edition 1.21.9 release notes say /setworldspawn is no longer limited to the Overworld and describe expanded look-direction control for /setworldspawn and /spawnpoint. That is a Java 1.21.9 change, not a universal statement about Bedrock or every Minecraft version. See the Java Edition 1.21.9 release notes.
