To rotate a prerecorded video in CameraFi Live, add it as a Video source, tap that source, then choose Rotate left 90° or Rotate right 90°. This changes the video source; it is separate from locking your phone screen to portrait or landscape. Check the broadcast preview before going live.
Add the prerecorded video and rotate it
- Open your CameraFi Live session and swipe left to reveal the Video source controls.
- Tap + and choose the prerecorded video from your phone’s gallery. CameraFi Live supports video files as broadcast sources.
- Tap the video source you added. Choose Rotate left 90° or Rotate right 90° until the picture is upright.
- If the picture is mirrored or upside down, use Reverse left and right or Upside down. Choose Reset to clear source rotation and reversal adjustments.
These source controls are documented in CameraFi Live’s video-source guide. The app’s Android getting-started guide also confirms video files can be used as broadcast sources.
Check the framing and screen orientation separately
After rotating the file, inspect the broadcast preview. A portrait video should appear upright and deliberately framed in a portrait output; check a landscape file in the landscape output. CameraFi Live documents source rotation, but its guide does not guarantee that every file will be automatically cropped or reframed to fit the output. Do not assume rotation alone changes the canvas layout.
If needed, separately choose or lock the phone’s screen orientation. An older CameraFi Live update note lists Settings > Screen Rotation with Auto rotate, Landscape lock, Portrait lock, and Reverse landscape lock. This setting controls device or app screen rotation, not the rotation of an individual prerecorded video. Because the note is from 2020, confirm the setting’s location and labels in your installed version.

CameraFi Live’s portrait-streaming tutorial discusses 9:16 output for a vertically mounted USB camera. That figure is not a general promise about how every prerecorded file will be displayed.
Test the YouTube broadcast before going public
- Decide whether the stream should be portrait or landscape, then set the phone’s screen-rotation lock as intended.
- Start an unlisted YouTube livestream and check the actual picture and audio in the output. Confirm that the video is upright and framed acceptably.
- Check your internet speed and video and audio quality before switching to a public broadcast.

Use video you have permission to broadcast
CameraFi Live’s FAQ says its overlay feature can broadcast prerecorded video, and warns that using someone else’s content may result in copyright violations. Use content you are authorized to broadcast and follow applicable YouTube policies. See the CameraFi Live FAQ.
