To run different playlists on multiple YouTube channels, create a separate scheduled livestream event in YouTube Studio for each channel, then match OBS’s media scene and stream connection to the intended event. YouTube schedules the broadcast; OBS supplies the video feed. OBS does not automatically map each YouTube event’s schedule to a different playlist.
How YouTube scheduling and OBS playlists fit together
A scheduled YouTube livestream is a broadcast event, not a playlist scheduler. Create or choose the event in that channel’s Live Control Room, then connect an encoder such as OBS to the event using its stream details or a supported account connection. YouTube says, “Scheduling a stream lets you promote your stream.” YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains scheduling and connecting an encoder.
OBS controls the media and scenes sent through the encoder. Its VLC Video source can contain multiple media items and supports playlist controls such as looping and shuffling. The official OBS Media Sources guide describes these controls and prerequisites; the OBS Sources Guide explains how sources are arranged in scenes. Neither documents an automatic link between a YouTube event schedule and an OBS playlist.
Set up a different playlist for each scheduled broadcast
- Switch to the right YouTube channel. In YouTube Studio, select the channel that will host the broadcast, open Live Control Room, and use Manage and Schedule Stream to create or reuse that channel’s event. Labels may change as YouTube updates its interface. Scheduling can provide an upcoming-stream page that you can promote and share.
- Keep the event details associated with that channel. Note which event you intend to use. At stream time, connect OBS to the matching event using its stream URL and key, or use YouTube’s supported account integration and select the intended broadcast. Follow YouTube’s current encoder instructions for the connection method you choose.
- Make the playlist in OBS. Add a VLC Video source for the ordered media, or create a separate scene for each playlist and layout. In the VLC source’s playlist controls, leave shuffle off when the sequence must remain fixed; enable it only when randomized playback is intended. Choose the appropriate loop or playback behavior for your broadcast.
- Match the scene to the event before going live. Check both the selected OBS scene and the YouTube channel/event. A mismatched scene can send the wrong video; mismatched stream details can send the feed to the wrong broadcast.
VLC and OBS prerequisites
The OBS VLC Video source requires VLC Media Player to be installed. For 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC so the architectures match. If VLC is missing or the architecture does not match, the source may not be available or work as expected; consult the OBS Media Sources guide for current requirements.

Repeat the setup for multiple channels
Repeat the YouTube event setup while switched to each channel, and connect OBS to the event intended for that channel. This repeat-and-match approach follows YouTube’s documented event and encoder workflow; it is not a built-in cross-channel playlist scheduler. Before starting each broadcast, verify the account/channel, event, stream connection, and OBS scene together.
If broadcasts overlap, plan how each one will receive its intended OBS feed and event connection. The sources describe channel-specific events and encoder details, but do not establish that one OBS setup automatically routes distinct playlists to multiple simultaneous broadcasts. Do not assume that creating several events alone will handle that routing.

Use timed playlist blocks within one continuous stream
A playlist that plays items in sequence is different from a schedule that changes content at a particular clock time. For a morning, afternoon, or evening block within one ongoing livestream, arrange separate scenes or sources for those blocks and switch scenes when needed. OBS’s official guides cover scenes, sources, and VLC playlists, but do not document a native clock-based playlist scheduler.
Timed scene automation is an optional route, not a YouTube scheduling feature. A third-party guide points to Advanced Scene Switcher for timed changes, but its current workflow and compatibility are not established here. Check the plugin’s current documentation and compatibility with your installed OBS version, then test a complete transition—including the expected playlist playback—before relying on it live.

Choose the right arrangement

Troubleshooting
- The VLC Video source is missing or does not work: Install VLC Media Player and ensure its architecture matches OBS; 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.
- The playlist plays in an unexpected order: Check the VLC source’s shuffle setting. Turn it off for a fixed sequence.
- The wrong playlist appears on a broadcast: Confirm the selected OBS scene and the YouTube channel/event before sending the feed live.
- The feed reaches the wrong event: Check that OBS is using the stream URL and key for the intended event, or that the correct broadcast is selected through account integration.
- A timed scene change does not happen as expected: Do not assume OBS natively schedules playlists by clock time. Verify the automation tool’s current setup and OBS compatibility, and test the entire transition before relying on it during a live broadcast.
