For a standard stereo YouTube livestream, set OBS to AAC audio at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz. To repeat the track, add it as an OBS Media Source and enable Loop. Hindi music does not have a separate bitrate setting in YouTube’s published live encoder guidance; the recommendation is based on channel layout, not language.
Set the OBS streaming audio bitrate
- In OBS Studio, open Settings → Output. Find the streaming audio bitrate control. Its exact label and placement can vary with your OBS version and output mode; Advanced output mode also lets you configure streaming and recording separately.
- For a stereo YouTube stream, choose 128 kbps for streaming audio. YouTube’s live encoder guidance specifies that rate for stereo. OBS’s general streaming overview suggests around 160 kbps, or less when upload speed is limited; that is broad guidance, while YouTube’s platform-specific target for this setup is 128 kbps. YouTube’s live encoder settings and the OBS Studio overview describe their respective recommendations.
- Set the audio sample rate to 44.1 kHz and use AAC. YouTube lists AAC or MP3 as supported live audio codecs; OBS documents AAC as its default, widely supported audio codec. Sample-rate controls are in OBS audio settings, though labels can vary by version.
These are audio settings, distinct from video resolution, video bitrate, and keyframe interval. The guidance here is specifically for a typical stereo music stream, not a 5.1 setup.
Loop the Hindi music file in OBS
- Add a Media Source to the scene and select the local audio file. OBS documents MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV as supported audio inputs. See OBS Media Sources.
- Open the Media Source properties and enable Loop. The source will restart when the file reaches its end.
- Check the source’s audio meter while it plays. Listen for abrupt cuts at the end-to-start transition and confirm the intended track is selected before streaming.
Test the stream before relying on it
Run a test with the actual music and representative content, then listen to the playback and check that it is uninterrupted. Monitor YouTube’s stream health during the event; YouTube specifically recommends monitoring it. Neither the bitrate nor the language alone guarantees how a particular recording will sound, so a listening check with the actual track matters. OBS also recommends testing before the first live stream.
When 5.1 settings apply
YouTube’s live recommendations distinguish stereo from 5.1 surround: stereo uses 128 kbps at 44.1 kHz, while 5.1 uses 384 kbps at 48 kHz. A standard Hindi music loop intended for ordinary stereo playback should use the stereo settings above. Choosing 5.1 adds channel-layout and playback considerations and is not a quality upgrade for a stereo source.

Common problems and fixes
- The track stops after one play: Reopen the Media Source properties and confirm Loop is enabled.
- No audio reaches the stream: Confirm the Media Source is active in the scene, its audio meter responds, and the selected streaming audio track is configured in OBS output settings.
- OBS shows a different bitrate label or menu: Check Settings → Output and the selected output mode. OBS versions and modes can place controls differently; use the streaming audio control, not the recording bitrate, when changing the live stream.
- The loop clicks, clips, or has an awkward transition: Listen to the source file around its end and beginning. Bitrate changes will not repair a cut or defect in the recording itself.
- YouTube reports stream-health trouble: Check the status in YouTube Live Control Room and verify the OBS stream is sending audio and video as expected. Do not assume changing audio bitrate alone will fix a broader connection or encoder problem.
