In OBS Studio, open Settings > Video and set Common FPS Value to 25. That controls the output frame rate. Choose your stream resolution separately under Output (Scaled) Resolution; Base (Canvas) Resolution is the workspace where you arrange sources. YouTube’s live encoder guidance permits input frame rates up to 60 fps and does not identify a special 25 fps rule for India.
Set OBS to 25 FPS
- Open the Video settings: In OBS, select Settings > Video.
- Set the output frame rate: Find Common FPS Value and choose 25. OBS describes this as the desired output frame rate. If the control is set to a different value, change it to 25 before going live. OBS Studio Overview Guide.
- Choose the stream resolution separately: Set Output (Scaled) Resolution to the resolution you want OBS to send to YouTube. Base (Canvas) Resolution is the layout area for arranging your sources; changing it is not the same as changing the stream’s output resolution. OBS Studio Overview Guide.
- Apply and verify: Apply the setting, then check that OBS is using 25 FPS for the output you intend to stream.
Configure the YouTube encoder settings
OBS’s 25 FPS setting is within YouTube’s stated live input ceiling of up to 60 FPS. That ceiling does not guarantee that every YouTube playback rendition will retain precisely 25 FPS. YouTube’s live encoder guidance also recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe frequency; do not exceed a four-second keyframe interval. Follow the applicable resolution-and-codec guidance in YouTube’s live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
Choose a bitrate with the right qualification
YouTube’s published bitrate table does not give a separate 25 FPS row. For reference only, its H.264 1080p30 row lists a 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended bitrate. Those are the figures for that 30 FPS row, not a 25 FPS-specific target. YouTube’s recommended bitrate varies with both resolution and codec, so consult the current table for the combination you use rather than treating the example as a universal setting. Leave upload bandwidth headroom
YouTube recommends upload capacity with a 20% margin over your stream bitrate. Use a reliable outbound connection, test with representative audio and movement, and review stream health before and during the broadcast. See YouTube’s streaming tips and its encoder guidance.

What the India setting means
The cited OBS and YouTube instructions are general; they do not establish a special 25 FPS requirement for streams sent from India or different treatment by YouTube India. Set 25 FPS when it suits your content and production needs, not because the channel is located in India. The appropriate resolution, codec and bitrate still depend on your chosen output and available upload capacity.
Troubleshoot a 25 FPS stream
- OBS output is not 25 FPS: Reopen Settings > Video and check Common FPS Value. Make sure you changed the output frame-rate control rather than a resolution setting.
- The stream resolution is not what you expected: Check Output (Scaled) Resolution. Base (Canvas) Resolution controls the workspace and is a separate setting.
- Upload or stream health is unstable: Compare your available outbound upload capacity with the selected bitrate and keep YouTube’s recommended 20% margin. Test under conditions similar to the live broadcast and monitor stream health.
- You are unsure which bitrate to use at 25 FPS: YouTube’s cited table has no distinct 25 FPS row. Use its resolution-and-codec guidance as the reference, and do not label the H.264 1080p30 figures as an exact 25 FPS recommendation.
