Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallCrashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteTo make OBS retry after a connection drop, open Settings → Output, enable Automatically Reconnect, set Retry Delay and Maximum Retries, then apply the changes. These settings make OBS attempt to reconnect; they cannot restore a broken internet connection or guarantee that YouTube will preserve the same live broadcast after a long outage.
Configure OBS automatic reconnect
- In OBS, open Settings → Output.
- Enable Automatically Reconnect.
- Choose a Retry Delay and Maximum Retries that fit your stream and likely interruption. There is no universally recommended value: the right choice depends on how long you want OBS to keep retrying and the nature of your connection.
- Select Apply, then OK.
The labels above match OBS’s English interface, but layouts and wording can vary by release. Check the controls in the OBS version you have installed. OBS’s current project localization identifies the reconnect controls, but is not a version-pinned user manual: OBS English UI localization.
Test the stream before you need reconnect
Before an important broadcast, test OBS and your YouTube stream. YouTube recommends checking upload bitrate, selecting stream quality that fits the available connection, and watching stream health and messages in Live Control Room. The upload capacity that matters is the stable capacity available to your streaming computer—not just a provider’s advertised plan speed.
- Confirm OBS is sending data and the stream appears in YouTube Live Control Room.
- Check YouTube’s encoder guidance and stream health messages during the test.
- Use the connection and quality you expect to use on stream day. A successful test on a different network does not establish that your regular connection is stable.
See YouTube’s live encoder settings for its stream configuration and testing guidance.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What happens during an outage—and what to check when service returns
OBS’s reconnect feature retries the connection to the streaming server. It does not fix an outage between your home or studio and your ISP, or a failed route from your ISP to the ingest server. If the network path is still unavailable, OBS cannot reconnect successfully. OBS describes intermittent disconnections as network issues between the computer and remote ingest server, often outside the application’s control.
- Let OBS retry while the network recovers. Avoid assuming that a retry means the internet connection is back.
- Check OBS. Confirm that it reports a successful connection rather than continuing to retry or showing an error.
- Check YouTube Live Control Room. Verify that YouTube is receiving data and review stream health and encoder messages.
- If OBS is connected but YouTube receives no data, check the encoder configuration and outbound connection. YouTube’s troubleshooting flow advises checking that the encoder is operating and that the outbound internet connection is strong; contact your ISP if the connection itself is faulty.
- Check the broadcast status. Reconnection does not guarantee YouTube will keep the same broadcast active after a prolonged interruption. Follow the status and messages shown in Live Control Room.
Use OBS’s stream connection troubleshooting guide and YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guide to narrow down the fault.

Reduce repeated disconnects on an India-based connection
The same general OBS and YouTube steps apply in India; the reviewed guidance does not establish a special India-only retry setting, best ingest server, or typical outage pattern. Your ISP, local network, and route determine whether the streaming computer can reach YouTube’s ingest server. Test the connection you will actually stream from and use YouTube’s reported stream health rather than assuming one setting works across Indian networks.
Start with the local network
- Prefer Ethernet over Wi-Fi. OBS says, “It’s recommended to use a wired connection when streaming.” An Ethernet cable can help avoid Wi-Fi instability, but it is optional and cannot fix an ISP outage.
- Check the router, modem, cabling, and network equipment. A loose cable or failing device can resemble an ISP problem.
- Consider VPNs and security software. OBS lists VPN instability and security software interference among possible causes. Test changes carefully and restore protections after troubleshooting.
- Check network utilities and drivers. Network-optimization software or outdated network drivers may affect the connection.
- Ask your ISP if the problem persists. Recurring congestion or a faulty route can be outside your control.
Adjust stream settings to match a stable connection
If the connection cannot sustain the bitrate you configured, reduce the bitrate based on the stable upload speed available. YouTube recommends matching stream quality to connection capacity. A lower bitrate can mean lower image quality, so test the result before going live rather than making an untested change during a broadcast.

OBS also offers dynamic bitrate, which may reduce dropped frames when the connection cannot keep up, at the cost of video quality. It does not resolve the underlying network issue. OBS suggests trying a different server as another general troubleshooting step, but a geographically selectable YouTube ingest choice may not be available in every configuration.
Windows network options and IP binding
OBS suggests that Windows users try enabling network optimizations and TCP pacing. It also advises leaving Bind to IP at Default. Testing IPv4-only is an option; if it makes no difference, OBS recommends returning to IPv4 and IPv6. These are troubleshooting options, not guaranteed fixes.
