What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
For a player using official matchmaking, open Settings → Gameplay from the main menu and change the preferred region. The default is Automatic; choosing a distant region can significantly increase latency and create networking problems that affect combat.
Community-server owners face a different situation. The current Path of Titans hosting reference documents no ServerRegion, country, or flag setting in Game.ini. The flag beside a server can therefore come from hosting-provider or platform geolocation metadata rather than a game configuration value. If that flag is wrong, verify the server’s actual location with the provider and escalate the metadata problem instead of adding an undocumented setting.

First identify which “region” you mean
Path of Titans uses the word region for two separate concerns. A player’s preferred matchmaking region tells official matchmaking where to look for a multiplayer server. A community server’s physical hosting location is determined by the machine or data center running that server. Those controls are not interchangeable.
| Question | Correct control | Who changes it | What it affects |
|---|---|---|---|
| Which area should matchmaking search? | Settings → Gameplay preferred region | Each player | Official matchmaking selection and likely connection distance |
| Where is a community server physically hosted? | Machine or provider data-center location | Server owner or hosting provider | Network path, latency, and possibly geolocation metadata |
| Which country flag appears beside a server? | No documented in-game override | Usually provider or platform metadata | The label shown in the server browser, not the player’s preference |
Changing your Gameplay region will not relocate a community server. Conversely, editing a server’s session settings will not change the region preference saved in your player client.

Change your matchmaking region as a player
The following path is the documented way to influence which region official matchmaking uses.
- Launch Path of Titans and stay at the main menu.
- Open Settings.
- Select the Gameplay tab.
- Find the preferred server-region control and cycle through the available regions.
- Select the region you want, or leave the setting on Automatic when you want matchmaking to choose an appropriate nearby region.
- Return to Multiplayer and search or join as usual.
When Automatic is the better choice
Automatic is the default. It is the safest choice when you do not have a specific reason to use another region, because manually selecting a far-away region can significantly raise latency. Alderon Games warns that this can lead to networking issues that affect combat, so a region that looks desirable on a list may still produce a worse playing experience if it is geographically distant from you.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhen to choose a specific region
A manual choice is useful when you need matchmaking to search a particular area, for example when coordinating with players there or when the automatic result is not suitable. Treat it as a matchmaking preference, not a guarantee that every server you see is physically located in that region. The setting influences the matchmaking system; it does not rewrite the location of a community server.
Joining a friend instead of using matchmaking
Alderon’s official blog notes that you can join friends directly through the friends list, bypassing the matchmaking system. If your immediate goal is to play on the same server as a friend, direct joining may be more relevant than repeatedly changing the preferred region. The connection you ultimately receive still depends on the server being joined and its network location.

How the region choice relates to latency
Latency is the delay introduced while traffic travels between your device and the server. The further away the selected matchmaking region is, the greater the chance of a longer network path. Alderon specifically cautions that far-away regions can produce networking problems and combat effects. The documentation does not publish a universal ping threshold, so there is no single number at which a region becomes unusable for every player.
- Use Automatic when you have no reason to force a distant area.
- If combat feels inconsistent after a manual change, return to Automatic or try a geographically closer region.
- Do not infer a server’s physical data center solely from the region preference in your client.
- For a community server, ask the owner or provider where the machine actually runs; that is a separate latency question from your matchmaking setting.
Configure a community server through Game.ini
Community servers are entirely community run. Owners can customize documented server settings and moderation tools, and Alderon allows them either to self-host or to work with a Game Server Provider (GSP). The hosting workflow requires a controlled stop-edit-start cycle.
- Stop the server. Do not edit the configuration while the process is running. The hosting documentation warns that live edits may not take effect reliably.
- Locate
Game.ini. Find it in the server’s configuration directory. The exact parent directory depends on the operating system and the hosting arrangement, so use the path supplied by your self-hosting setup or GSP. - Open the correct section. Session settings normally belong under
[/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession]. Every option must be on its own line and placed beneath the appropriate section header. - Edit only documented options. Set values such as the server name, map, player limit, password, chat behavior, whitelist, or other published gameplay controls.
- Save the file. Keep the syntax exactly as required by the hosting reference. Be aware that defaults may be removed when you make edits, so retain any settings you still need.
- Restart the server. Changes are applied after the server starts again. If the server remains online during the edit, stop it and repeat the save-and-restart process before diagnosing the result.
Example session block
[/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession]
ServerName=My_Community_Server
ServerMap=Panjura
MaxPlayers=100
bServerAllowChat=true
This is an operational example of syntax, not a performance recommendation. The value MaxPlayers=100 is simply an example setting; no source establishes it as an ideal capacity for every machine or connection.
What the published Game.ini options do—and do not do
The current configuration reference lists session and gameplay controls, but it does not list a key for a country, a flag, or a server matchmaking region.

Not supported by the current reference |
Do not add invented lines such as ServerRegion=EU or CountryFlag=US and expect the browser to recognize them. The published list provides no evidence that those keys are parsed. Changing ServerName also changes only the name displayed for the server; it is not documented as a geolocation control.
Why a community server can show the wrong country flag
The flag beside a server is not the same thing as your preferred matchmaking region. Because the current hosting reference contains no country or flag override, the displayed flag can be derived from provider or platform geolocation metadata, commonly associated with the server’s public IP or listing information. The available documentation does not specify one universal algorithm, so treat that explanation as the likely source of a mismatch rather than a guaranteed rule for every listing.
A recent player report described a server hosted in Washington, DC appearing with a Germany flag while using a commercial provider. That report demonstrates that a provider/geolocation mismatch can occur; it does not establish a universal correction or prove that every incorrect flag has the same cause.
Evidence to collect before contacting support
- The exact server name as displayed in Path of Titans.
- The server’s unique GUID, if available from the owner or deployment records.
- The hosting provider or confirmation that the server is self-hosted.
- The country or region advertised to players.
- The actual data-center city and country supplied by the provider.
- A screenshot or description of the flag shown in the server browser.
Who should correct the problem
- Ask the hosting provider to verify the server’s public IP registration and geolocation metadata against the actual data-center location.
- If the provider cannot correct the listing information, open an Alderon support ticket with the server name, GUID, provider, advertised location, actual location, and the displayed flag.
- Keep the request focused on geolocation metadata. Do not claim that editing
Game.ini, changingServerName, or changing your Gameplay region will fix the flag, because the published documentation does not support those methods.
Self-hosting versus a Game Server Provider
Alderon’s Community Servers FAQ identifies two deployment choices: run the server on equipment you control, or use a GSP. Both can host a community server, but they place responsibility for location and troubleshooting in different hands.

| Decision area | Self-hosting | Game Server Provider |
|---|---|---|
| Infrastructure control | You control the machine and network. | The provider controls the underlying infrastructure and public IP. |
| Operational work | You handle installation, ports, updates, availability, and troubleshooting. | The provider reduces day-to-day infrastructure work, subject to its service procedures. |
| Physical location | You choose where your machine is located. | You choose from the provider’s available locations, but the provider supplies the data center and IP. |
| Latency planning | Place the machine near the intended player base and verify the network path. | Select a physically suitable provider location and ask where the server and public IP are registered. |
| Flag or geolocation issue | Check your own public IP registration and listing details. | Contact the provider first because its IP and metadata may determine the displayed flag. |
| Game configuration | Edit Game.ini locally while the server is stopped. |
Use the provider’s file manager or support workflow, still stopping the server before editing. |
Neither deployment choice creates a documented Game.ini flag override. The difference is who controls the physical machine, public IP, and geolocation records.
Where region fits in a dedicated-server deployment
Owners setting up a dedicated server use AlderonGamesCmd together with an authentication token, a unique server GUID, a database selection, a port, a branch key, and the Path of Titans server executable or start script. These are deployment requirements, not a documented country-flag mechanism.
During setup, choose a machine or provider location that makes sense for the community you intend to serve. Then verify the resulting public listing and network behavior. If the browser flag is wrong, changing the branch key, database, port, or executable does not address the documented geolocation gap; investigate the IP and provider metadata instead.

The region menu changed, but matchmaking still finds unexpected servers
- Confirm that you changed the control under Settings → Gameplay, not a community-server setting.
- Remember that the control influences matchmaking; it does not guarantee a particular community server.
- Use the friends list to join a friend directly when you need to bypass normal matchmaking.
- Return to Automatic if the manually selected region is distant and produces networking or combat problems.
A community server has high latency even though its flag looks local
The flag is not proof of physical proximity. Ask the owner or provider for the actual data-center city and country, then compare that information with your location and the route your connection takes. A listing can carry incorrect geolocation metadata while the server itself remains elsewhere.

Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
The server flag is wrong
Do not add a speculative ServerRegion or CountryFlag line. Record the server identity and both advertised and actual locations, ask the provider to correct its IP or listing metadata, and escalate to Alderon support if the provider cannot resolve it.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Game.ini changes do not appear
- Stop the server before editing.
- Check that you edited the active
Game.iniin the configuration directory used by that deployment. - Verify that each option is on its own line and under the correct section header.
- Save the file, then restart the server.
- Confirm that the option is in the published configuration list. An undocumented region or flag key will not become valid merely because it is syntactically present.
The provider and the game show different locations
Ask the provider to distinguish the advertised location, the data-center location, and the public IP registration. Supply all three values in any support request. This gives the provider and Alderon enough information to determine whether the mismatch is in hosting metadata, IP geolocation, or the game’s server listing.
Practical owner checklist
- Decide whether the server will be self-hosted or run through a GSP.
- Choose a physically appropriate machine or data-center location for the intended players.
- Complete the dedicated-server requirements: AlderonGamesCmd, authentication token, unique GUID, database, port, branch key, and server executable or start script.
- Stop the server before every
Game.iniedit. - Use the documented
[/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession]section for session settings and keep one option per line. - Restart after saving and verify the settings in-game.
- Do not advertise an undocumented configuration key as a flag solution.
- Record the server name, GUID, provider, advertised location, actual data-center location, and displayed flag if a geolocation problem appears.
- Send that evidence to the provider first, then to Alderon support if necessary.
The reliable separation is simple: players change matchmaking preference in Settings → Gameplay; owners change documented session behavior in a stopped server’s Game.ini; and a wrong country flag is handled as a provider or platform geolocation issue because no official flag override is currently documented.
