To run an Indian music channel continuously on YouTube, first secure livestream rights for every recording and composition, then create a YouTube Live event and connect it to a cloud encoder that loops your authorized media. YouTube Live Control Room configures and monitors the broadcast; it does not play your music files. The encoder sends the audio and video feed to YouTube using the event’s stream URL and private stream key.
Before setup: clear the music rights
Confirm that you have permission to livestream both the sound recording and the underlying composition. Check the license for the intended platform and use, territories, duration, monetization, and any conditions for Content ID. Buying a song, owning a physical copy, finding a track online, or having a general music subscription does not by itself establish YouTube livestream rights. Rights for a particular Indian song or catalogue depend on its owners and agreements.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. Its guidance says: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A match can replace the stream with a placeholder; if the matched content remains, YouTube may temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream. A license and a Content ID allowlist address different issues: the license grants permission, while allowlisting your channel can help prevent automated matching from interrupting a licensed broadcast. If you have permission, ask the rights holder or distributor about adding your channel to its allowlist. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
What you need
- A YouTube account with live streaming enabled. First-time enablement may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave it until launch day.
- Authorized music files and, if desired, artwork or another visual to accompany the audio.
- A cloud encoder or streaming service that explicitly supports continuous playback of prerecorded media and playlists.
- A way to monitor stream health and handle a disconnect, plus a plan for archives if you need them.
Set up the YouTube event and cloud encoder
- Enable live streaming ahead of time. In YouTube Studio, complete the live-streaming setup for your channel. YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours. Its live-streaming setup guidance recommends allowing time for this step.
- Create or schedule an event. In YouTube Studio, choose Create → Go Live, then use the Stream tab to configure the broadcast. If you want a scheduled watch page, create or schedule the event there.
- Copy the ingest details securely. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room into the corresponding destination fields in your cloud encoder. Treat the key like a password: keep it private, and reset it if you believe it has been exposed. YouTube explains the setup in its encoder streaming instructions.
- Choose and configure the media source. Upload or select only files you are authorized to use. Set the encoder to loop a single video or play a continuous playlist, and attach the intended visual. Select YouTube as the RTMP or RTMPS destination. Before choosing a service, verify that it can loop prerecorded media for long periods, recover from a dropped connection, provide monitoring, and expose the stream key securely.
- Set the output and start the encoder. Use the service’s YouTube destination settings to set the video and audio format, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and keyframe interval. Start the encoder so it sends a feed to YouTube.
- Check the preview before going live. For a scheduled event, wait for the incoming preview in Live Control Room, confirm the correct event is receiving it, and check the sound, visual, and stream health. Then choose Go live in Live Control Room. Keep monitoring the service and YouTube’s stream-health indicators after launch.
Encoder settings for YouTube
Use YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance as the baseline, then confirm that your chosen service supports the configuration. YouTube recommends RTMPS where available, constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval, and a keyframe interval no longer than four seconds. Supported video codecs listed in its guidance include H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1; frame rates can be up to 60 fps. Audio should use AAC or MP3.

There is no single correct video bitrate for every music stream. YouTube’s bitrate recommendations vary by codec, resolution, and frame rate. Choose a setting the cloud service can sustain continuously and that fits your visual quality needs, then verify the result in Live Control Room. For an audio-led stream with a static or slowly changing visual, prioritize stable audio and an ingest profile the service can maintain.
For stereo audio, YouTube recommends 128 Kbps and a 44.1 kHz sample rate. These are platform recommendations; the final sound also depends on the source audio and encoder.

Plan for continuity and recordings
“24/7” is a publishing goal, not a promise that one YouTube event can run forever or that its archive will be complete. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, and warns that streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If preserving a YouTube archive matters, plan a controlled handoff or restart before the 12-hour boundary and test how that transition behaves with your encoder and event setup. YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance also recommends keeping a local backup if you need a dependable recording.
A separate local recording or media backup can be stored on an external SSD for video backups; it is not required to keep a cloud encoder running. The restart method, watch-page behavior, and whether a particular service can update a playlist without interruption depend on its configuration. Test the workflow before relying on it for a public schedule.
