To show a real charity fundraiser progressing on stream, first choose a donation route that sends contributions through a charity tool, create and publish a campaign with a clear target, then add that campaign’s goal widget or native donate controls to your broadcast. In OBS Studio, a fundraiser widget is commonly added as a Browser source. A generic creator goal or a promise to donate your tips later is not the same thing as a donation made through a charity fundraising tool.
Choose how viewers will donate before building the on-screen goal
Start with the donation mechanism, not the overlay. Confirm that the intended charity is available, the campaign can be used in your region, and the payment route provides the donor experience and receipts you intend to describe. The visible progress display should reflect the fundraiser collecting the money.
- Use a charity fundraiser platform when it supports your selected organization and provides a campaign page and stream tools. Twitch lists services including betterplace, DonorDrive, JustGiving, Streamlabs Charity, and Tiltify, but that list does not establish that every service supports every charity, creator, region, or overlay.
- Use YouTube Giving if your channel and location qualify. YouTube Help says eligibility includes being based in an available location, having at least 10,000 subscribers, being in the YouTube Partner Program, and not being designated as made for kids. Check YouTube’s YouTube Giving FAQs and the setup flow for current eligibility and available charities.
Do not treat tips, subscriptions, Bits, gifted subscriptions, or similar payments to you as charity donations just because you plan to pass the money on. Twitch distinguishes these creator payments from donations made through a charity tool; its Charitable Donations guidance says, “No, currently Twitch has no product that allows for charitable donations via Bits and subscriptions.” Tell viewers clearly which route their payment uses.

Streamlabs’ setup guide, last updated December 24, 2025, covers the charity stream campaign workflow and its Streamlabs Charity Donation Goal widget.
Add the fundraiser progress goal to your stream
Set up the widget in Streamlabs
- Open the Streamlabs dashboard and select All Widgets.
- Under Goals, choose Streamlabs Charity Donation Goal.
- Adjust its appearance, save the widget, and connect the Streamlabs account to the published campaign if prompted.
- If you want donation alerts, link the account to the published campaign and configure charity alerts in the alert box settings.
Add it in Streamlabs Desktop
- In Streamlabs Desktop, open the scene where the goal should appear.
- Use the Sources panel to add the charity goal as a widget source.
- Position and size the goal so it remains legible without covering important gameplay or stream information.
Add it in OBS Studio
- Open the goal widget’s settings in the Streamlabs dashboard and copy its widget URL.
- In OBS Studio, select the intended scene and add a Browser source.
- Paste the widget URL into the source settings, then set its dimensions and position it in the scene.
- Preview the scene and confirm that the goal loads and shows the correct campaign.
Keep the widget URL private: Streamlabs warns not to show it on stream. Anyone who obtains a private widget link may be able to access the widget itself, so do not display it in a browser bar, chat, or desktop capture.

Use YouTube Giving or YouTube’s own goal controls correctly
For eligible channels, YouTube Giving provides a native fundraising route. YouTube says the fundraiser’s donate button appears after its specified start date. For a donate button in mobile live chat, live chat must be enabled and viewers must see chat in portrait mode; made-for-kids settings can remove the button. Check the campaign and watch page before going live rather than assuming the controls will appear for every viewer.
YouTube’s general Goals feature is different: YouTube Help explicitly labels it “Not a fundraising tool” and advises against using it to raise money for specific items or expenses. Use YouTube Giving or a charity fundraising service to collect charitable donations. If you display a separate goal graphic, make clear whether it tracks the actual fundraiser or something else. See YouTube’s Goals guidance.

Check the fundraiser before viewers arrive
- Confirm the selected charity and public campaign page are correct.
- Check that the campaign is published and that its target and dates are right.
- Test the progress display in the scene you will use; confirm it shows the intended campaign.
- Test alerts separately if you plan to use them, and make a short private or unlisted rehearsal if your setup allows.
- Open the stream as a viewer, preferably on a phone as well as a desktop, and verify that viewers can find the donate button or campaign link.
- Prepare a concise spoken and written explanation of who receives donations and where viewers should donate.
Common problems and fixes
The goal widget is missing or blank
Check that you selected Streamlabs Charity Donation Goal, rather than a similarly named generic or Twitch-specific goal widget; verify that the widget URL is current and that the browser source has loaded. Reopen the widget settings, confirm its campaign link, and refresh the source or scene.
The goal appears, but does not show the right campaign or progress
Make sure the Streamlabs account is linked to the published campaign, and that the widget is configured for that campaign. Check the public campaign page independently so you can distinguish a display issue from a campaign or donation issue.

A charity goal widget seems to have disappeared from the dashboard
Check the exact widget name and current availability in your account. Streamlabs announced that its separate Twitch Charity Donation Goal widget was scheduled to sunset on April 12, 2026. That notice does not identify it as the same widget as Streamlabs Charity Donation Goal; do not assume the status of one determines the other. Streamlabs’ widget update notice was published March 13, 2026 and last updated June 12, 2026.
