To loop a Hindi devotional video on YouTube Live with OBS, add the local video as an OBS Media Source, enable Loop, then connect OBS to a YouTube stream using its server URL and stream key. For a sequence of videos, use OBS’s VLC Video source and enable Loop Playlist. Test the audio, picture and YouTube preview before inviting viewers—and use only media you have the rights to stream.
Before you set up the loop
Make sure your channel is eligible to stream
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. The minimum age to live stream is 16. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable streaming and check access well before the planned broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and setup guidance.
Prepare the media and confirm the rights
Keep your media file on the computer running OBS. OBS Media Source supports common video formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI and WebM, and audio formats including MP3, AAC, OGG and WAV. If you want a still devotional image over a separate soundtrack, add the image and audio as separate sources in the scene.
A devotional subject does not automatically make a recording free to use. Confirm that you have permission for the specific sound recording and composition, the planned live use and relevant territories; also check whether permission covers an archived replay. YouTube’s livestream terms require creators to hold necessary rights worldwide, including music licensing rights. Keep permission records and check any conditions with the rights owner.

Choose the right OBS source
| What you want to play | OBS source | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| One continuous video file | Media Source | Enable Loop. If the source should restart when it becomes visible in the active scene, leave Restart playback when source becomes active enabled. |
| A still image with a separate audio file | Image source plus a media source for the audio | Enable Loop on the audio source. Check that the image remains visible and the audio does not stop. |
| Several files played in sequence | VLC Video | Add the playlist and confirm Loop Playlist is enabled. VLC must be installed on the computer. |
OBS describes Media Source’s Loop option as restarting a file after playback completes. For a playlist, VLC Video is the direct choice; a live camera, microphone or dedicated encoder is not required for this basic prerecorded-media setup. See the OBS Media Sources documentation.
Set up the loop and connect it to YouTube
- Create a scene. In OBS, add or select a scene for the devotional broadcast. In the Sources panel, select + and choose Media Source.
- Select the local file. Give the source a name, choose the video file and enable Loop. If using a still image and separate audio, add each as its own source and enable Loop on the audio source. For multiple files, add a VLC Video source, load the playlist and check Loop Playlist.
- Create or select a YouTube stream. In YouTube Studio, open Go Live and create a stream or choose an existing scheduled stream. YouTube provides a server URL and stream key for the encoder connection.
- Enter the connection details in OBS. Open OBS stream settings, select the appropriate YouTube service or custom server option, then enter the server URL and stream key supplied by YouTube. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it can send a feed to your channel. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions explain the stream connection.
- Start OBS streaming and wait for the preview. Confirm YouTube Live Control Room receives the signal and displays the intended picture and sound. Do not start the viewer-facing event until the preview is ready and the stream looks correct.
Choose quality settings for a reliable stream
Set OBS output to a resolution and frame rate your upload connection can sustain, then use YouTube’s current encoder recommendations for that combination rather than copying a single bitrate from an unrelated setup. Run an upload speed test and leave headroom for normal connection fluctuations. A high-quality setting that repeatedly drops frames is worse for viewers than a stable, lower setting.

Use the resolution- and frame-rate-specific recommendations on YouTube’s live encoder settings page when choosing a video bitrate; there is no one bitrate that fits every stream. OBS labels can vary by version, so check the current settings available in your installed version.
Test before the broadcast and monitor it live
- Run a test stream with motion and audio similar to the planned broadcast. An unlisted test is one option.
- Check the YouTube preview for the correct image, framing and visible loop. Listen for the soundtrack, confirm its level is sensible and make sure it continues playing.
- Review YouTube’s stream health indicators and resolve any warning before the public event.
- Start the encoder ahead of the scheduled event, check the preview, then begin the viewer-facing broadcast. Keep monitoring stream health and audio/video quality during the event.
YouTube’s live encoder help recommends checking the preview before going live; its streaming guidance covers testing and managing a live stream.

Copyright can interrupt a devotional stream
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects material, a placeholder may replace the live output; if the content remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. A license does not necessarily prevent an interruption: YouTube says a channel may also need to be allowlisted by the rights owner for licensed third-party content. Ask the owner about allowlisting before relying on the license.
YouTube’s special live Content ID matching feature is limited to certain YouTube Content Manager partners and has global-rights and exclusive-ownership requirements. Ordinary creators should not assume they can enable it. Review YouTube’s guidance on live-stream copyright and the livestream terms before broadcasting.

Common problems and fixes
- YouTube does not offer Go Live: Verify the channel, check for a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and allow for up to 24 hours after first enabling live streaming.
- OBS connects but YouTube shows no preview: Confirm OBS is streaming to the server URL and stream key for the same YouTube event. Check that the selected scene contains the media source and that the source is visible.
- The file stops after playing once: Reopen the Media Source properties and turn on Loop. For a playlist, check Loop Playlist on the VLC Video source.
- A playlist source is unavailable: Install VLC on the computer, then reopen or recreate the VLC Video source and confirm the playlist files are accessible.
- The picture appears but there is no audio: Check the media file’s audio track, the source’s audio level and OBS’s active audio output. Verify sound in YouTube’s preview during a test rather than assuming OBS meters alone confirm the audience can hear it.
- The stream buffers or loses health: Lower the output resolution, frame rate or video bitrate to a level the actual upload connection can sustain, then test again. Use YouTube’s recommendations for the chosen resolution and frame rate.
- The stream is replaced or interrupted after copyright detection: Stop relying on the material until you have confirmed rights for the live use and, where required, asked the owner to allowlist your channel.
