To repeat one cartoon, open it on YouTube and right-click the video player, then select Loop. To cycle through selected cartoons, put them in a YouTube playlist and turn on that playlist’s Loop control. Keep the spare PC awake while it is plugged in—but treat all-day playback as an aim, not a guarantee: YouTube may pause web playback and ask someone to confirm they are still watching.
Choose between repeating one cartoon and cycling through several
Repeat a single cartoon
Open the cartoon’s YouTube watch page on the PC. Right-click inside the video player and choose Loop. YouTube’s desktop player repeats that video until Loop is turned off. See YouTube Help: Loop videos or playlists on YouTube – Computer.
Repeat a curated sequence
- Open one of the cartoons you want to include and use YouTube’s playlist controls to create a playlist. Add the other selected videos to it. You can choose a privacy setting such as Private when creating the playlist. See YouTube Help: Create and manage playlists.
- Open a video from that playlist. Expand the playlist beside the video and select its Loop control.
- Check that the playlist Loop control is active. YouTube will cycle through the selected playlist rather than choosing unrelated recommendations.
Autoplay is different
Autoplay queues another related video after the current one ends; it does not repeat only your chosen cartoon or guarantee that a curated sequence will play. Its setting is device-specific, so check the Autoplay switch in the computer’s player if you want recommendations to continue. See YouTube Help: Autoplay videos.
Keep Windows awake while the PC is plugged in
- In Windows 11, open Start > Settings > System > Power & battery > Screen, sleep, & hibernate timeouts.
- Adjust the plugged-in screen timeout and sleep timeout for the period you want to watch. These are separate settings: the screen can turn off without putting the PC to sleep, but the PC must stay awake for YouTube playback to continue.
- If this is a laptop, check what happens when its lid closes. Windows provides settings for lid and power-button actions; confirm the plugged-in lid action before leaving it unattended. Menu availability can vary by device. See Microsoft Support: Change the power mode for your Windows PC.
Test the setup and account for YouTube interruptions
- Start the video or playlist and confirm that the appropriate Loop control is active.
- Leave the PC running nearby for a while and verify it does not sleep during the intended playback period. Adjust the plugged-in timeout if needed.
- Allow for YouTube’s “Video paused. Continue watching?” prompt. YouTube says it can appear before 60 minutes of uninterrupted watching on web when Autoplay is on; a person may need to confirm to resume. Native looping therefore does not guarantee unattended playback all day. See YouTube Help: Are you still watching?.
Check whether the spare PC still runs Windows 10
Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025. Microsoft says it no longer provides free software updates from Windows Update, technical assistance, or security fixes for Windows 10. The operating system may still run, but that support status is relevant if you plan to keep an internet-connected PC in regular use. See Microsoft Support.
