To set up a wireless-charging gaming headset, first confirm that the exact headset model supports the charger you plan to use. Wireless audio does not mean wireless charging: some headsets use a dedicated magnetic stand, some support Qi, and others charge only by cable or through an earbud case. Pair the headset with your gaming platform using its supplied adapter or instructions, place it on its intended charger, then verify the charging light or battery display.
Check how your headset charges before connecting a charger
Look up the exact model in its manual or official support page. Identify whether it uses a purpose-built magnetic dock or hanger, a Qi pad for a headset with built-in Qi support, a charging case, or a USB cable. Do not assume a generic Qi pad will charge a headset just because the headset connects to your console or PC wirelessly.
A headset stand may have two unrelated functions: holding the headset and charging a phone on a Qi surface. ASUS describes the ROG Throne Qi as providing up to 10 W of Qi charging for compatible devices; that output figure does not establish that a headset is compatible. MSI says the HS01 Combo’s Qi charger is for Qi-enabled phones and other compatible small electronics. Check the headset’s own compatibility information before placing it on either stand’s Qi surface: ASUS ROG Throne Qi specifications and MSI Immerse HS01 Combo.
Qi charging can also work differently for earbuds. SteelSeries describes the Arctis GameBuds as charging in a Qi-compatible case; that is not the same as placing an over-ear headset directly on a Qi pad. See SteelSeries Arctis GameBuds.

Set up the headset with your gaming platform
Pairing is separate from charging. Follow the instructions for your headset and platform; a wireless headset may need its supplied USB adapter rather than Bluetooth pairing. For example, PlayStation instructs PULSE Elite owners to insert the included PS Link USB adapter into a PS5 USB-A port, press the headset’s PS Link button, and follow the on-screen instructions. Charge it using the method the manufacturer specifies
For a dedicated magnetic stand or dock
Connect the stand to its specified power source, then seat the headset at the intended contact points. If the stand is designed to hold the headset magnetically, align it as instructed; do not assume that any hanger or stand has charging contacts. Fractal Design Scape is one reported gaming-headset example with a magnetic wireless-charging stand. PC Gamer reported up to 40 hours of battery life for Scape in its October 5, 2026 article, without specifying the test conditions. PC Gamer’s Scape coverage describes the product, but its price and stock can change.

For a Qi-capable headset
Use a Qi pad only if the headset maker confirms that the exact model supports Qi. Place the headset over the intended charging area and check for the model’s charging signal. HyperX’s 2020 announcement for the Cloud Flight S identifies Qi charging as a feature and says the Qi charger is sold separately. It also reports up to 30 hours of battery life in a test at 50% headphone volume. This historical announcement does not confirm current headset or charger availability. For USB charging
Use the supplied or manufacturer-approved cable and power source. Sony’s INZONE H9 II guide says to use its supplied USB-C cable and warns that charging may fail with other cables or some adapters. Sony estimates approximately 3.5 hours to charge from empty, with actual time varying. Its guide also says not to charge if liquid such as water or sweat, or foreign matter such as dust, is on the cable or USB-C port. Sony INZONE H9 II Help Guide.

For earbuds with a charging case
Charge the case using its specified method, then place the earbuds in the case as directed. A Qi-compatible earbud case does not make the same pad suitable for a separate over-ear gaming headset.
Confirm that charging has started
Check the headset’s light or battery display after placing it on the stand or connecting the cable. Indicator colors and patterns differ by model, so use the manual’s definitions rather than treating one headset’s signal as universal.

That depends on the model and charging method. Sony says the INZONE H9 II can be used while connected to a USB AC adapter or a compatible computer port. PlayStation says the PULSE Elite can be used while connected to USB: “You can use your headset while charging as long as you keep it connected to the USB device.” Do not assume a headset can be used while sitting on a wireless stand or Qi pad; check its own instructions. Choose a charging setup that matches the headset

If the headset does not appear to be charging
- Recheck compatibility: confirm the exact model supports the dock, Qi pad, case, or cable being used. A stand’s Qi output specification alone does not confirm headset compatibility.
- Reseat it: align a headset with its intended magnetic contacts or, for a confirmed Qi model, the marked charging area. Check the manufacturer’s instructions for placement.
- Check the connection and cable: make sure the charger is powered and use the supplied or approved cable and adapter. Sony warns that other cables or some adapters may prevent charging on the INZONE H9 II.
- Inspect the port and cable: follow the manufacturer’s warnings about moisture, debris, and charging conditions. Do not connect a cable to a wet or dirty port.
- Read the model’s indicator guide: a light that turns off may mean charging is complete, not that charging failed. Compare the signal with the manual and check the platform battery display if available.
