To set up an OmniFactory server, download the matching Omnifactory 1.3.2 Server.zip from the project’s CurseForge files page, extract it into a dedicated folder, run the supplied Forge launch files once, accept the EULA in eula.txt, configure server.properties, and test a client using the same pack release and Forge profile. OmniFactory targets Minecraft 1.12.2 and Forge; clients on another pack version or loader configuration will usually fail to connect.
Running a modpack with friends? Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks (CurseForge, FTB, Technic) and free DDoS protection.
This is an expert, GregTech Community Edition-centered pack rather than a vanilla server. Treat the supplied scripts, README and launch configuration as authoritative, and choose the Java release recommended for Minecraft 1.12.2 by the pack or launcher instead of assuming that the newest Java version is compatible.

Prepare the server before downloading files so that the live world, backups and configuration are easy to identify.
Hardware and operating system
- A computer or virtual server that can run Java and remain online while players connect.
- Enough CPU time, memory and storage for a large Forge modpack and its generated world. The pack’s files do not establish a universal memory requirement; the practical amount depends on view distance, world activity, automation and player count.
- Administrator access to install Java, open a firewall rule and, when hosting at home, configure router port forwarding.
- Separate storage for backups. Do not keep the only copy of a world inside the live server directory.
Correct pack and game versions
The relevant release is OmniFactory (listed as Omnifactory) 1.3.2, for Minecraft 1.12.2 using Forge. The dedicated-server download is named Omnifactory 1.3.2 Server.zip; the CurseForge listing records an upload date of June 18, 2025. Downloading a different release, or mixing files from different releases, can produce missing-mod errors, recipe differences or a world that cannot be safely opened.
#1 Best Overall
Java compatibility
Use the Java release specified by the pack’s own instructions or by the launcher profile for Minecraft 1.12.2. General Minecraft server guidance is version-specific: a Java installation that works for a newer Minecraft release is not automatically correct for a 1.12.2 Forge server. Check the installed runtime from a terminal with:
java -version
If the command is not found, install the required Java runtime and make sure the executable is on the system PATH, or use the full path to the Java executable in the supplied launch script. Do not change the script’s Java arguments until the server starts reliably.
Download the official server pack
- Open the OmniFactory project’s CurseForge page and go to its files list.
- Select the file identified as Omnifactory 1.3.2 Server.zip, not the client profile or an unrelated add-on.
- Save the ZIP locally and, if you are transferring it to a remote machine, copy the complete archive without renaming internal files.
- Create a new, dedicated directory such as
OmniFactory-server. Keep this directory separate from your client instance and from your backup directory. - Extract the ZIP directly into the new server directory. Preserve the folder structure supplied by the archive.
Before starting anything, read the included README, instructions and launch files. A pack release can change its script name, working-directory assumptions or Forge files. Running a script from the wrong directory, moving a referenced library folder or renaming a file that the script expects can stop the server before Forge loads.
Install and launch Forge from the supplied files
Windows
Open the extracted folder and inspect the supplied Windows launch file. It may be a batch file, and its exact name can vary by release. Run it from the server directory so relative paths resolve correctly. If double-clicking closes the window before you can read an error, open Command Prompt, change to the server directory and run the supplied batch file there.
cd C:pathtoOmniFactory-server
Use the actual path on your computer; the command above is only the directory-change step, not a replacement for the pack’s launch script.
Linux or macOS
Use the supplied shell launch file after reading its instructions. From a terminal, change into the extracted directory first:
cd /path/to/OmniFactory-server
If the script is not executable, apply the permission change described by your operating system, then run the script from that directory. Do not substitute a generic Forge command for the pack’s own command until you have confirmed which Forge server files and arguments the release expects.
Run the first launch
- Start the supplied script or command once.
- Wait while Minecraft and Forge create generated files. The first run can take longer than later starts because libraries, configuration files and the world directory are initialized.
- When the process stops or reports that the EULA must be accepted, stop it cleanly rather than killing the terminal or power-cycling the machine.
- Confirm that the expected files, including
eula.txt,server.propertiesand a world directory, have been created.
Accept the EULA and start the live server
Open eula.txt in a text editor and read the linked terms. Change eula=false to eula=true only if you accept them. This is an explicit legal acknowledgement, not a setting to enable automatically.
Start the server again with the same supplied script or command. Leave the console visible during this launch. A successful startup should proceed past Forge initialization and remain running, waiting for connections. If it exits, record the first meaningful error rather than only the final “server stopped” line; the earliest missing file, Java or permission message is usually the useful diagnosis.
Configure the world in server.properties
Stop the server cleanly before editing configuration. Open server.properties with a plain-text editor and change only the settings you understand. Restart after saving so the server reloads the file.

- The classic UNO card game builds fun on game night with a Minecraft theme.
- UNO Minecraft features a deck and storage tin decorated with graphics from the popular video game.

World identity and gameplay
- World name: choose the directory name for a new world. Do not change it casually after players have built in the existing world; a new name can make the server generate a different world.
- Difficulty: set the challenge level required by your group.
- Whitelist: enable it for a private server and add approved player names through the server console or the pack’s supported administration method.
- View distance: lower it if CPU or memory use is excessive, especially with several players exploring different areas.
- Port: retain the pack’s working value unless you have a reason to change it. If you change it, update the firewall rule, router forwarding and the address players use.
Back up the world before changing generation, difficulty, view-distance or other settings that affect active play. A configuration typo can prevent startup, while a world-generation change can create an inconsistent experience in newly explored chunks.
Make the server reachable
Local-network testing
Test from another computer on the same network before troubleshooting Internet access. Find the host machine’s local IP address, start the server and connect with the Minecraft client’s direct-connect option using that address and the configured port. This isolates pack and Forge problems from router and firewall problems.
Firewall rules
Allow the Java server process, or the configured Minecraft server port, through the host operating system’s firewall. Apply the rule only to the network profiles you trust. If the server works locally but remote players time out, verify that the firewall rule uses the same port shown in server.properties.
Router forwarding
For a server behind a home router, forward the configured port to the host computer’s local IP address. Reserve that local address in the router if possible so the forwarding target does not change. Players outside your home network connect to the public address supplied by your Internet connection and the configured port. Never publish a private local address as if it were an Internet address.

Install and test the matching client
Every player needs the client-side OmniFactory release that matches the server: OmniFactory 1.3.2, Minecraft 1.12.2 and a compatible Forge profile. A vanilla 1.12.2 client, a different OmniFactory release or a different Forge build can fail during the handshake even when the server itself is healthy.
- Install the pack through the supported launcher workflow, selecting the 1.3.2 profile.
- Confirm that the launcher is using Minecraft 1.12.2 and the Forge configuration expected by the pack.
- Launch once in single-player or to the title screen so the client creates its files.
- Use the multiplayer screen to connect to the server’s local address for the first test.
- After a successful local connection, test the remote address from a player outside the host network.
Do not copy a server-only directory over a client installation. Keep client saves and configuration backups separate from the live server world.

Read console errors by symptom
The server closes immediately
- Run the supplied script from the server directory so relative paths resolve.
- Run
java -versionand compare the result with the Java release required by the pack or launcher for Minecraft 1.12.2. - Check that the extracted archive contains all folders and files and that antivirus software has not quarantined a library.
- Read the first error in the console or log. A later stack trace can be a consequence rather than the cause.
“EULA” or missing eula.txt messages
Allow the first launch to create the file, stop the process, then edit eula.txt and set the value to true only after accepting the terms. Editing a different copy of the file, or running the server from another directory, leaves the active process unchanged.
Missing-mod or registry errors
Compare the client and server pack release, Minecraft version and Forge configuration. Re-download the exact server ZIP if files were mixed with another release. Do not remove a listed mod to make the server start; OmniFactory’s recipes and progression depend on its mod set.
Java class, memory or launch failures
Confirm that the selected Java runtime is the one recommended for this 1.12.2 pack and that the launch script points to it. Review the script’s memory arguments and the host’s available memory before changing values. Allocate resources conservatively and test after each change rather than copying arguments intended for another Minecraft version.
Best Value
Players cannot connect
- Check that the server process is still running and has finished loading the world.
- Confirm that the player is using the matching OmniFactory and Forge profile.
- For local tests, use the host’s local address; for Internet tests, use the public address and configured port.
- Recheck the host firewall and router forwarding after any port change.
- Check the whitelist if the connection reaches the server but the player is rejected.
Backups, updates and safe maintenance
Back up the right files
Stop the server cleanly before copying the world directory. Keep dated copies outside the live folder and, ideally, on another disk or system. A useful backup also includes the server configuration and pack-specific settings, not just player screenshots or client saves.
Updating the pack
Do not overwrite a working world in place. Make a full backup, create a separate test directory, extract the new server pack there and compare its instructions and launch files. Open the backup world only after confirming that the new release is intended to be compatible. Keep the old server directory until players have connected successfully and the new world has been checked.
Routine shutdowns
Use the server console’s normal stop command or the method documented by the pack. Abrupt termination risks losing chunk, player or machine data, which is particularly costly in an expert progression pack.
Self-hosting versus managed hosting
Self-hosting gives you direct control, but it also makes you responsible for Java, Forge, backups, updates and network access. Managed hosting can remove the operating-system and router work, provided the provider accepts a custom Minecraft 1.12.2 Forge server ZIP.
| Decision factor | Self-hosted server | Managed host |
|---|---|---|
| Upfront cost | Existing hardware and Internet service may avoid a new hosting bill; electricity and bandwidth remain your responsibility. | Provider pricing varies and is not established here; confirm recurring charges, storage limits and cancellation terms. |
| Files and mods | Full access to the extracted server directory, scripts, configs and backups. | Access depends on the control panel and support policy. Confirm that custom-uploaded Forge 1.12.2 server ZIPs and OmniFactory files are allowed. |
| Backup and updates | You schedule, verify and store backups and perform pack updates yourself. | The provider may offer automated backups, but check retention, restore access and whether modded-world restores are included. |
| CPU and memory | Limited by the host machine and competing workloads. | Defined by the selected plan and platform. Ask how resources are allocated to a modded 1.12.2 instance. |
| Network setup | Requires firewall rules, a stable local address and often router forwarding. | Usually supplies an Internet endpoint, but firewall and account security still matter. |
| Player capacity | Determined by your hardware, Java configuration, view distance and player activity. | Determined by the allocated resources and provider limits; no universal player number can be promised. |
| Best fit | Owners who want maximum control and can maintain a Java/Forge process. | Groups that prefer to avoid local uptime, router configuration and operating-system maintenance. |
Before paying for managed hosting, ask specifically whether it supports Minecraft 1.12.2 Forge, custom server-archive uploads, command-line or file-manager access, scheduled backups and restoring a modded world. “Modded Minecraft” support alone does not prove that this older Forge pack is supported.
