Check IPD and glasses width before putting on the headset
Valve’s Steam Frame product page lists the headset’s IPD target range as 60–70 mm and maximum glasses width as 140 mm. These are manufacturer specifications, not a promise that every person within those measurements will get a clear or comfortable fit.

Valve describes Steam Frame as lightweight and compact, with “the weight balanced front-to-rear for a comfortable experience.” Its product page also specifies a modular headstrap and says the core module can be separated to use other headstrap solutions. These are confirmed design features; the page does not explain which strap adjustment to make first or specify a correct pressure level.

Follow the fitting prompts presented in the headset or check Valve’s current support guidance for the actual adjustment sequence. Do not treat Steamworks developer setup instructions as consumer fit directions: Valve’s Steam Frame development setup documentation covers powering on a development unit and initial update steps, not ergonomic fitting.
If you wear prescription glasses
Valve lists Zenni prescription inserts among Steam Frame accessories on its product page. That is one officially named alternative to wearing glasses inside the headset. The listing does not establish a prescription range, availability, price, or universal compatibility, so check the current accessory information for details relevant to your prescription.

Whether you use glasses or an insert, the published 140 mm glasses-width limit is only a preliminary check; it does not establish compatibility for every frame shape or prescription. Assess the fit using the headset’s own prompts or Valve’s current support instructions.
