There are two ways to make YouTube music play continuously in India: listen to stations, albums or playlists in YouTube Music, or broadcast a continuous live music stream to an audience on YouTube. The first is personal playback; the second is a creator broadcast with live-stream access and music-rights requirements. Choose the path that matches what you want to do.
Choose the right kind of continuous stream

Keep YouTube Music playing for personal listening
Start a station, album or playlist
- Open YouTube Music and choose a station, album or playlist.
- For a playlist, use shuffle if you want the tracks to play in a different order. YouTube describes stations based on favorite songs, albums and artists as listening options.
These features keep playback going for you; they do not create a viewer-facing live stream.
Check background-play access in India
If you want music to continue while you use other apps or turn off the screen, check the subscription features shown for your account in India. In its 12 March 2026 India announcement, Google said Premium Lite background play and downloads were rolling out for most videos, while identifying YouTube Premium as the option for background playback that includes music content and YouTube Music Premium. Plan availability and entitlements can change, so verify the current details in your account rather than relying on a general price or assuming the same feature is available to everyone. Set up a continuous live music broadcast
For a broadcast, enable live streaming on the channel in advance, choose a way to produce the stream, and resolve music rights before going live. YouTube for Artists says first-time live streams should be enabled at least 24 hours before the planned stream.

1. Enable live streaming and verify the channel
- In YouTube, select Create (+) → Go live → Enable.
- Complete phone verification when prompted.
- Allow at least 24 hours before your planned first live stream for access to be enabled, as advised by YouTube for Artists. YouTube for Artists: Going Live for Music Channels
2. Choose a production method
You can use a simple mobile or webcam stream, or choose an encoder for more customization and control. YouTube for Artists describes an encoder as an option, not a requirement. Its guidance does not prescribe a particular encoder, computer, audio interface, bitrate, or 24/7 configuration, so choose production settings based on your equipment and stream needs rather than treating an unsupported number as a YouTube requirement. 3. Confirm rights before broadcasting music
Make sure your channel has the necessary rights for every recording, composition and other third-party element in the broadcast. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it identifies content, a placeholder may replace it; if the content remains, YouTube says the stream may be interrupted or terminated. YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams

If a rights holder has licensed music for your stream, ask whether your channel must be allowlisted through Content ID. A stream can still be interrupted despite a license if allowlisting is required and has not been done. A license does not by itself establish that YouTube’s systems will recognize the permission.
4. Do not treat Creator Music as a live-stream licence
YouTube’s Creator Music usage details say its tracks are for long-form videos, not live streams or Shorts. The same help page describes Creator Music as available to U.S. YouTube Partner Program creators, with expansion to creators outside the U.S. pending. It is therefore not an established licensing route for an India-based live broadcast. YouTube Help: Understand Creator Music usage details

5. Understand alternatives and remaining risk
YouTube lists possible routes for music you do not own, including permission, Creative Commons material used according to its terms, public-domain material, and music from the YouTube Audio Library or Creator Music. None guarantees that a stream will avoid a Content ID claim or strike, and copyright rules and exceptions vary by country.
