To set up Dolby Atmos for Headphones with an Astro A50, first identify the headset generation and platform. On Windows 10 or 11, select the A50 as your playback device and configure Atmos in Dolby Access. On Xbox, use Dolby Access and the console’s headphone-audio settings; the exact connection steps vary by A50 model. Logitech’s detailed no-sound procedure applies specifically to the A50 X, not every A50.
Before you change settings: identify your A50
Check the headset and base-station model, then match the instructions to your platform. The A50 family is listed for Atmos use, but that does not make every generation’s connections or audio settings interchangeable. Dolby lists support for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10, and Windows 11 PC with an included activation code on its Astro A50 product page.
Activation terms can depend on the package. Logitech’s Gen 4 XB specifications list Xbox One, PC, and Mac compatibility and a two-year Dolby Atmos activation code. Check the documentation or account associated with your own headset rather than assuming all A50 packages have identical terms.
Set up Dolby Atmos on Windows 10 or 11
- Connect the headset and base station according to the instructions for your A50 generation.
- Select the A50 as the Windows playback device. Open Settings > System > Sound and choose the headset as the output device.
- Install and open Dolby Access. Follow its setup flow for Dolby Atmos for Headphones and complete any activation step requested for your package or account.
- Check the spatial-audio setting. In the selected playback device’s properties, open the spatial sound control and choose the Dolby Atmos option if it is available. Microsoft identifies Dolby Access as an additional spatial-audio option; menu wording can vary with Windows version and drivers. See Microsoft’s Windows spatial sound instructions.
Set up Dolby Atmos on Xbox
For Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, use Dolby Access to configure Dolby Atmos for Headphones, then verify the headphone output format in the console’s audio settings. The available menus and connection details depend on the A50 model. Dolby lists these Xbox platforms among the supported devices for the A50, subject to the included activation code.

A50 X: resolve no sound after selecting Atmos
Logitech’s Xbox troubleshooting procedure is specifically for A50 X. If you have that model and lose sound after switching to Dolby Atmos, follow its documented sequence:
- Dock the headset.
- Connect the base station to the Xbox over USB.
- Launch Dolby Access once.
- In the headset-audio menu, choose Dolby Atmos for Headphones.
- Turn on and undock the headset. Logitech says Dolby Access should show a green readiness check; see its A50 X no-sound troubleshooting article.
Logitech notes that redocking the A50 X returns Xbox to speaker-format operation. If you redock it, check the console’s audio format again before troubleshooting the headset as though nothing changed.

A50 Gen 3 on Xbox One: follow the legacy optical setup
Logitech’s Gen 3 Xbox One setup guide specifies current headset firmware, USB power, an optical connection, and Xbox audio set to Bitstream Out with Dolby Digital. That is the documented legacy setup for Gen 3 on Xbox One; it is not a general Dolby Atmos recipe for newer A50 models or consoles.

Choose the setup path that matches the headset

If Atmos is unavailable or there is no sound
- Confirm the model first. Do not apply A50 X USB troubleshooting or Gen 3 optical settings to another generation without model-specific guidance.
- Check activation. Use the code or account associated with your headset package if Dolby Access requests activation. Package terms differ; Logitech lists a two-year code for the Gen 4 XB package.
- Recheck the selected output and format. On Windows, verify the A50 remains the selected playback device and that spatial sound is set on that device. On Xbox, confirm the headphone format in audio settings after using Dolby Access.
- For A50 X, verify dock state. Logitech says redocking changes Xbox back to speaker-format operation; undock after selecting Atmos using its documented sequence.
