To receive personal tips on Twitch, create a tipping page with a third-party service, connect a payment method through that service, then add its link to your channel or make it available through a chat command. For a charitable fundraiser, use Twitch’s Charity tool or another service that sends contributions directly to the charity. These are different payment flows: a personal tip is not automatically a charitable donation.
Set up a personal tipping link
Personal tips are generally handled through an external tipping page and payment provider, rather than as a payment processed by Twitch. Streamlabs and StreamElements document ways to create a page and surface its link on Twitch; they are examples, not a complete comparison of providers. Check the service’s current terms for supported regions, payment methods, fees, chargebacks, and privacy disclosures before choosing one.
1. Create a tipping page
Choose a service and follow its current setup flow. Streamlabs documents a tipping page workflow, while StreamElements documents a tipping page that can be linked through its Twitch-compatible !tip command.
2. Connect a payment method
For Streamlabs, the documented route is the Tipping area, then Tip Methods, where you choose a payment processor and complete its connection steps. The service provides a shareable URL for the resulting page. Labels and availability can change, so use the current dashboard instructions for your account and region.

3. Review the page before sharing it
Streamlabs documents settings such as display currency, minimum and suggested amounts, a page message, and banner customization. These are Streamlabs-specific examples; do not assume another provider offers the same options. Check that the page explains what viewers are paying for and that its amount and currency settings are appropriate for your audience.
4. Add the link to your Twitch channel
- Open your Twitch channel’s About area and enable panel editing.
- Create a text or image panel and add the tipping-page URL. Streamlabs’ Twitch instructions describe this panel approach; its newer guide describes placing the Tip Page URL in an image panel.
- Save the panel and view your channel as a viewer to confirm the link is visible and opens the correct page.
5. Optionally share the link in chat
StreamElements says its !tip command works on Twitch and returns a link to the creator’s tipping page after that page is configured under Revenue → Tipping Settings. Follow the current StreamElements dashboard instructions to enable it, then test the command in chat. A command makes the link easier to request; it does not turn the payment into a Twitch payment.
6. Check what viewers and receipts may reveal
Review the payment provider’s account settings, terms, and receipt behavior before accepting tips. Streamlabs advises using a PayPal Business account rather than a personal account to help keep a creator’s real name and personal information hidden from viewers. That is vendor guidance, not a guarantee of anonymity: payment screens, receipts, account configuration, and local requirements can affect what information is disclosed.

Set up a charitable fundraiser separately
If viewers are meant to donate to a charity, choose a flow that sends the money directly to that charity. Twitch says money given to a streamer who later donates it is not considered a charitable donation and is not tax deductible. If you receive the money first, describe it as your plan to donate your revenue—not as a direct donation from viewers to the charity.
Use Twitch’s Charity tool
- In the Creator Dashboard, open Charity.
- Choose an eligible charity and create a fundraiser.
- Confirm the charity and current eligibility in your dashboard before sharing the fundraiser with viewers.
Twitch describes its Charity tool for Affiliates and Partners. Twitch says funds raised, excluding payment processing fees, are donated according to PayPal Giving Fund policies. Charity availability and eligibility should be checked in the dashboard; do not imply that every charity or creator can use the tool.

Explain the destination clearly
Tell viewers whether a link is a personal tipping page or a direct charity fundraiser, and name the recipient. Do not promise tax deductibility for a personal tip. For any external charity platform, verify how it handles fees, receipts, and the transfer to the charity before promoting it.
Personal tips are not Twitch Affiliate payouts
A third-party tipping page and Twitch monetization are separate arrangements. Twitch’s monetization overview distinguishes completing monetization setup from qualifying as an Affiliate or Partner, and says streamers who are neither are not eligible for Twitch payouts under that overview. This does not establish the eligibility or payout terms for an external tipping service.

For Affiliate onboarding, Twitch lists direct deposit/ACH, check, wire transfer, PayPal, and holding payouts, with available choices varying by region. Its guide gives minimum balances of $50 for most payout methods and $100 for wire transfers. Those are Twitch Affiliate payout figures, not thresholds for third-party tips; check the current onboarding page and your locale-specific settings.

- Payment methods and regional availability: confirm what viewers can use and whether the service supports your location.
- Fees and chargebacks: review the provider’s current terms rather than assuming a tip reaches you in full.
- Identity and privacy: inspect account settings and sample receipts; do not promise anonymity.
- Viewer-facing wording: label personal support as a tip and reserve “charitable donation” for a flow that pays the charity directly.
- Link behavior: test the channel panel and, if enabled, the chat command while logged out or from a viewer account.
