How do I set up Jackbox Party Pack 12 for local multiplayer?
One person runs the purchased game on a host device; everyone else joins that game from a browser using the room code. For an in-person session, put the host screen where the whole group can see it. Jackbox does not require a particular television, monitor, cable, or connection type.
- Get the game on the host device. Jackbox says one person in the group needs to own the product to host. Its October 2026 announcement listed PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Apple TV, iPad, and Mac App Store, with an announced price of $29.99. Those were planned launch details, not confirmation of current store availability or price; check the intended store listing before buying. Jackbox’s announcement
- Set up the shared screen. Install and launch the pack on the host device, choose a game, and wait for its lobby. In a room together, position the screen so players can follow the game.
- Let players join from their own devices. Each player opens jackbox.tv on an internet-capable phone, tablet, or computer and enters the room code shown on the host screen. A phone is common, but it is not the only option. Players do not each need to buy the pack. Jackbox’s joining instructions
- Start when everyone is in the lobby. Once the group has joined and has a device ready, the host starts the game from the host screen.
This is Jackbox’s general setup guidance. The company had not established Pack 12-specific host system requirements or browser behavior in the cited information, so do not assume requirements from an older pack apply.
What is in Party Pack 12?
Jackbox’s product page lists five games: We Forgot a Card, Hyperface, Debate and Switch, Idol Factions, and MegaPals. The page gives We Forgot a Card a player range of 2–8 and a listed duration of 15 minutes; those figures apply to that game, not automatically to the other four. The same listing mentions an option to purchase created cards in real life for We Forgot a Card, but does not establish where that option is fulfilled or whether it is available in every region.
Which browser should players use?
Players should use an up-to-date browser on a supported internet-connected device. Jackbox’s support page lists minimum versions for jackbox.tv, but those are general controller-browser support details, not Pack 12-specific requirements. Check the current supported browsers list if a player cannot join.

How should I choose a host platform?
Choose a platform you can buy and run the pack on and whose screen you can make visible to everyone in the room. The announced platform list does not establish that one version performs better or is easier to set up than another. Store availability and price can change, so confirm both on the platform you intend to use before purchase.

Jackbox does not provide online matchmaking, but remote guests can participate if the host shares the game screen through a video-call service, Steam Remote Play Together, or supported console sharing. Guests still use jackbox.tv as their controllers. The host should choose a sharing method supported by their platform and make sure the shared screen is legible to everyone; Jackbox recommends wired internet where possible in its remote-play guidance.
