You can run a 24/7 rain-sounds stream through OBS on JioFiber, but a broadband plan’s advertised speed does not guarantee a stable, uninterrupted broadcast. Build a simple OBS scene using rain audio and visuals you have rights to use, send it to YouTube with a private stream key, and choose a bitrate your connection can sustain after testing. Jio’s published home-use terms do not settle whether a particular continuous or monetized stream is allowed on your plan, so confirm that with Jio before relying on it.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel eligible to livestream: it must be verified and have no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s encoder workflow uses a server URL and stream key from Live Control Room. YouTube: Create a live stream with an encoder
- A computer running OBS, a stable wired connection if practical, and a measured upload connection. Test the line at the time and place you plan to stream; household traffic and network conditions can change.
- Rain audio and a still image or looping visual that you created or have permission to use for continuous worldwide livestreaming and any archive. YouTube makes the provider responsible for obtaining necessary rights. YouTube Terms of Service
Set up the YouTube stream and OBS scene
- Open YouTube Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream and select the encoder workflow. Copy the server URL and stream key shown there. Keep the key private: anyone with it may be able to send a feed to your stream. Do not show it in a screen capture, publish it, or share it.
- Make a simple OBS scene. Add a still image or looping rain visual, then add your rain recording as an audio source. Check that the image is framed correctly and that the audio source plays continuously. If the visual is animated, keep it simple and check OBS resource usage during the test.
- Configure the stream connection. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, choose YouTube as the service, and connect through the available account or stream-key workflow. If entering details manually, use the server URL and stream key from Live Control Room. Never paste the key into public notes or screenshots.
- Choose an output profile. In Settings > Output, use an encoder and bitrate that your computer and measured upload can sustain. YouTube recommends RTMP or RTMPS ingest, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval; its guidance says not to exceed four seconds. For H.264, YouTube lists 6 Mbps for 720p at 60 fps and 4 Mbps for the 240p–720p at 30 fps row. These are YouTube recommendations, not guarantees that JioFiber can sustain those rates at your home. YouTube: Live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions
- Set audio deliberately. YouTube’s advanced recommendations specify stereo AAC audio at 128 kbps; its encoder guidance also lists AAC or MP3. Listen to the scene before going live and keep levels below clipping.
- Start a private test. Use a private or unlisted test stream if appropriate for your channel. Confirm YouTube receives a clean preview, the rain audio is continuous, the image is correct, and OBS is not accumulating dropped frames before making the stream public.
Choose a bitrate JioFiber can actually sustain
There is no verified, universal “JioFiber bitrate” for a 24/7 stream. Jio does not publish a sustained upload figure for your individual connection in the material available here, and the result depends on your plan, local conditions, other household use, and destination. Do not pick a bitrate from the plan’s headline speed alone.
OBS advises choosing bitrate based on stable upload capacity and service limits. Its troubleshooting guide gives 75% of total upload as an example starting point, not a universal rule or reliability guarantee. Measure your line, leave headroom for normal household use, then test the chosen setting for long enough to see whether the feed remains stable. If OBS shows dropped frames or intermittent disconnections, lower the bitrate and investigate the network path. OBS: Dropped frames and general connection issues
- Start conservatively. A static or simple looping rain visual usually needs less video complexity than fast motion. Select a modest resolution and frame rate that suit the visual and your measured upload.
- Keep headroom. Other devices and applications may use upload bandwidth while the stream runs. A bitrate that works when the connection is otherwise idle may fail during ordinary household use.
- Judge the test by stability. Check YouTube’s preview and OBS’s dropped-frame indicators, not only a one-time speed-test result. If stability degrades, reduce bitrate or resolution and test again.
Will JioFiber allow a continuous livestream?
Jio describes JioFiber as a broadband service for uses that include streaming, but that general description is not a service-level promise for continuous encoder uploads. Jio’s plan FAQ says plans are for home use and warns that RJIL may discontinue service for misuse, fraudulent, unauthorized, or commercial use. It does not define whether an individual’s continuous ambient stream, especially a monetized one, counts as commercial use. Ask Jio about your exact plan and intended use rather than treating “unlimited” as permission or a guarantee. JioFiber plans and offers FAQ JioFiber service information

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Protect the stream from copyright interruptions
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A detected match can trigger a warning and placeholder image; if the content remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. Even licensed material may need the rights owner to allowlist your channel. Use original rain recordings and visuals, or retain clear permission covering worldwide continuous live use and archiving. A “no copyright” label by itself is not proof that the recording is cleared. YouTube: Copyright issues with live streams YouTube Terms of Service
Plan for outages, power loss, and archives
Monitor the connection and recover deliberately
OBS sends your encoder feed to YouTube; it does not provide connectivity or guarantee continuous service. Check OBS and Live Control Room periodically. A UPS can help bridge a brief local power interruption if sized for the computer and router load, but it cannot keep the stream online through a Jio network outage. Choose backup capacity only after measuring the equipment’s draw and deciding how much runtime you need.

Keep a local recording if the archive matters
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive as backup. If a complete YouTube archive matters, plan periodic stream restarts before the 12-hour threshold and understand that each restart causes an interruption. YouTube: Archive live streams
Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| OBS shows dropped frames or the stream disconnects intermittently | The network path is unstable or the bitrate exceeds what the connection can sustain. | Reduce bitrate, leave more upload headroom, stop competing uploads, and test again. OBS recommends bitrate reduction among its troubleshooting steps. OBS connection troubleshooting |
| YouTube does not receive the OBS feed | The stream key or server details may be wrong, or the channel may not be eligible to livestream. | Recheck Live Control Room’s server URL and key, keep the key private, and confirm channel verification and the absence of a live restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube encoder setup |
| The stream shows a warning, placeholder, or terminates | YouTube may have detected third-party content in the audio or video. | Remove the material or use content with documented rights for the intended live use. If licensed, ask the rights owner about channel allowlisting. YouTube live copyright guidance |
| The stream runs, but no complete YouTube archive appears | A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured. | Record locally and schedule restarts before the threshold if you need YouTube archives. YouTube archive guidance |
Or let it run in the cloud
If you would rather not leave OBS and a computer running at home, StreamNeo keeps an uploaded video live on YouTube from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It does not stream from a camera. Nothing has to stay on at home; uploaded video streams at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month.
