For a spoken church service on a limited connection, start with OBS output at 1280×720, 30 fps, H.264, CBR, and a two-second keyframe interval. Set the video bitrate only as high as the church’s upload connection can repeatedly sustain; YouTube’s H.264 guidance recommends 8 Mbps for 720p30, but that is platform guidance—not a guarantee about any Indian broadband connection. Rehearse with the actual camera movement and audio before relying on the stream.
Set up a reliable starting configuration
This baseline suits a mostly fixed camera and spoken service. Clear audio and a stable incoming feed matter more than choosing the highest output resolution.
- Confirm YouTube live eligibility. Check that the channel is verified and eligible to stream using YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule an encoder broadcast, then connect OBS using its YouTube integration or select YouTube/RTMPS and choose the intended stream key. Keep the key private: it authorizes sending video to your channel.
- Set the output video. In OBS, open Settings → Video. Set the output resolution to 1280×720 and the frame rate to 30 fps. For a fixed pulpit view, 60 fps usually adds bandwidth demand without a meaningful benefit.
- Choose the video encoder settings. In Settings → Output, use H.264 and CBR. Set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds. Choose an initial bitrate based on repeated upload tests from the actual streaming computer and connection; bitrate guidance is in the next section.
- Set audio. Use AAC audio. YouTube recommends 128 Kbps for stereo. Check that speech is clear and music is not clipping in the OBS meters and in a viewer-side test.
- Use RTMPS. YouTube recommends RTMPS for the encoder connection. Confirm OBS is connected to the intended broadcast and stream key, not an old or different scheduled event.
- Rehearse the real service. Test with the planned camera movement, scene changes, microphones and music. Check YouTube’s stream health and watch the live preview from another device; confirm both picture stability and intelligible sound.
See OBS Project’s YouTube walkthrough for the OBS-to-YouTube connection flow. OBS’s system requirements page warns that meeting compatibility requirements alone does not ensure a computer can stream successfully.
Choose bitrate for the upload you can sustain
YouTube’s current H.264 encoder table, accessed in 2026, lists these values for the common 30 fps choices below. They are YouTube ingestion recommendations, not a measurement of a church’s connection or a promise that a broadband plan will sustain the rate.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Output | YouTube H.264 minimum | YouTube H.264 recommended |
|---|---|---|
| 360p30 | 0.4 Mbps | 3 Mbps |
| 480p30 | 0.4 Mbps | 4 Mbps |
| 720p30 | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p30 | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
Use the full YouTube encoder settings table for other frame rates and codecs. A listed minimum is not necessarily a good target for a moving service image: lower rates can make motion harder to see clearly. If the connection cannot sustain the recommended value, prioritize a stable feed over nominal resolution.
Measure the right connection
- Run upload tests from the same computer, router and connection that will send the broadcast. Advertised plan speed, download speed, and a single brief test do not establish sustained upload performance to YouTube.
- Connect the streaming computer to the router by Ethernet where possible. OBS notes that Wi-Fi may be unstable for streaming.
- OBS’s connection troubleshooting guide gives 75% of total upload speed as a rough diagnostic starting point for stream bitrate. It is a heuristic, not an engineering guarantee: congestion, bursts, packet loss and routing can still disrupt a stream.
There is no India-specific OBS preset or ISP-performance figure established here. Determine a safe bitrate at the church location by repeated testing and a representative rehearsal.

Adapt in small steps
- If upload is constrained or dropped frames appear, lower the video bitrate in Settings → Output first.
- If that is not enough, reduce output resolution—for example, from 1080p30 to 720p30. Keep 30 fps for a mostly static service unless a tested need justifies more.
- Retest after each change with the actual scenes and movement. Avoid changing several settings at once, so it is clear which adjustment helped.
YouTube transcodes accepted live input for viewer devices, but that does not compensate for an unstable feed reaching YouTube. H.264 is a straightforward baseline for troubleshooting; YouTube’s table also covers AV1 and H.265, but changing codecs does not solve an inadequate or unstable connection.
Reduce dropped frames and disconnections
OBS Project defines dropped frames as a connection to the remote server that is unstable or cannot keep up with the configured bitrate. That points first to upload capacity or network stability, not automatically to a faulty OBS installation. Follow OBS’s connection troubleshooting guide.

Check the likely causes
- Bitrate too high: Lower it, then test again against the intended YouTube ingest service.
- Wi-Fi or a faulty cable: Try Ethernet and check the cable, router and other network devices.
- Router, driver or software interference: Check network drivers and investigate VPN or network-optimization software that may affect the connection.
- Congestion or routing outside the church: Restarting the router is a basic check; if the problem persists, contact the ISP because congestion or routing may be beyond local control.
- Bitrate fluctuates during congestion: OBS offers “Dynamically change bitrate to manage congestion.” It may reduce the configured bitrate when the connection cannot keep up, at the cost of image quality; it does not fix the root cause. Availability of some network controls depends on Windows.
A wired connection is a practical first step, not a guarantee. OBS identifies network cables, routers and other network devices as possible failure points.
Plan for a long-running church broadcast
OBS can send a continuous program, but a setup should not be treated as able to run unattended forever. Rehearse reconnect behavior and confirm which YouTube broadcast is selected if the connection drops. OBS’s community walkthrough describes how scheduled-broadcast auto-start and auto-stop choices affect starting, ending and reconnecting; it also notes broadcasts can eventually end after a prolonged period without an incoming stream. It does not establish a guaranteed grace period or uninterrupted operation.

For long services or all-day operation, arrange human checks for live status, stream health, audio, computer power, router power and connectivity. If unattended operation is essential, separately test recovery and backup power against the actual computer, router and connection. No universal UPS size, runtime or ISP failover arrangement follows from the available setup information.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Prioritize intelligible church audio and a manageable scene
A camera, microphone and preamp can feed an encoder stream, but the bitrate table cannot tell you whether speech will be intelligible in the room or at a remote viewer. Test the complete audio chain, including any church mixer or audio interface already in use. Keep speech consistent, avoid clipping, and listen from a separate device during rehearsal. A clear single-camera stream is often a better starting point than a complex scene that strains the computer or connection.

Computer load depends on encoder, output resolution, frame rate and scene complexity. Use OBS’s Auto-Configuration Wizard as a starting check, then rehearse the exact scenes and sources planned for the service; minimum compatibility requirements alone are not proof of streaming capability.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you do not want a church computer and home connection to remain on for the stream, StreamNeo runs an uploaded video or playlist as a YouTube live stream from the cloud. The three steps are: upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live.
- Nothing has to stay on at the church or at home to keep the computer sending the stream.
- Each slot streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot rather than quality tiers.
- It automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free, with no card required; this is one free day per account.
- Monthly: $9.99 per month.
StreamNeo plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube only. Start the free first day with StreamNeo.
