To change what a PS VR2 Sense controller button or stick does in a SteamVR game, press the controller’s PS button to open the SteamVR dashboard, then open Settings and the controller-binding controls. Select the game or application and edit its binding. The right assignment depends on the action that game expects; there is no single mapping that applies to every VR game.
Change bindings for a game that is already working
- Press the PS button on either PS VR2 Sense controller to open the SteamVR dashboard.
- Open Settings, then go to the controller-binding controls. Select the game or application whose controls you want to change.
- Choose the binding to use or edit the button and stick functions for that game. Assign each control according to the in-game action you want it to perform, then save or apply the binding if prompted.
- Return to the game and check the controls. If an action is still wrong, reopen that game’s bindings and adjust the relevant assignment.
SteamVR’s in-headset binding interface has changed over time. Valve’s SteamVR 2.12 release notes, published August 5, 2025, describe a smaller in-headset binding UI, a fix for a binding-save issue, and controller offsets under Options for Legacy, SteamVR Input, and OpenXR inputs. Labels or placement may differ by version. Valve’s SteamVR 2.12 release notes
Why bindings differ between games
Bindings are tied to the selected game or application, not a universal PS VR2 layout. A button or stick direction that works for one title may have a different purpose in another. Sony notes that some VR games require binding changes, and recommends changing them when starting the game or from settings. PlayStation Support: PS VR2 Sense controller use on PC
Valve’s developer guidance also explains that input-binding setup can affect how many players can use a game, and that automatic rebinding can be difficult for some controller profiles. That is context for why available bindings vary; it is not an official PS VR2 button map. SteamVR Input documentation for developers

Check what is actually wrong before changing settings
- The headset works in SteamVR, but one action is wrong: start with that game’s selected bindings.
- One or both controllers are missing: check Bluetooth pairing for the affected controller.
- The headset is not connected to the PC: complete the PS VR2 PC adapter setup before troubleshooting bindings.
Pair PS VR2 Sense controllers for the first time
If PC setup is already complete and both controllers appear in SteamVR, skip this section. For first-time pairing, Sony says to charge both controllers, unplug their USB cables, and turn on Bluetooth on the Windows PC. Add each controller separately while its indicator is blinking. PlayStation Support: PS VR2 Sense controller use on PC
- On the left controller, hold PS + Create until the indicator blinks.
- In Windows Bluetooth settings, add the left controller while it is blinking.
- On the right controller, hold PS + Options until its indicator blinks.
- Add the right controller separately in Windows Bluetooth settings.
Connect the headset to a PC if setup is incomplete
Sony’s PC setup requires the PS VR2 PC adapter, adapter power, a USB 3.0 Type-A connection to the PC, and a DisplayPort 1.4 cable between the adapter and PC; Sony identifies the DisplayPort cable as sold separately. Connect the headset to the adapter’s USB-C port, then open the PlayStation VR2 App through Steam and follow its setup instructions. PlayStation Support: PS VR2 PC setup
