PS5 emulation on a PC is still experimental, and there is no universal setup or guaranteed list of playable games. The clearest project-specific starting points are KytyPS5, which documents host requirements and several game-input options, and SharpEmu, which documents launching a legally obtained game’s eboot.bin. Neither source establishes a general PS5 firmware-installation procedure or a PC performance tier that will run commercial games well.
Project requirements and instructions can change. The details below reflect the projects’ documentation checked on October 4, 2026; they are project-published requirements, not independent hardware tests.
Check the emulator’s requirements before setting it up
KytyPS5 and SharpEmu publish different requirements and input instructions. Treat them as separate projects: do not assume that a file format or procedure documented for one also applies to the other.
| Project | Host requirements stated by the project | Documented game input | What its documentation says about status or firmware |
|---|---|---|---|
| KytyPS5 README | Windows 10 version 1803 or later, a current Linux distribution, or experimental macOS support; a 64-bit x86 processor, or Apple Silicon with Rosetta 2 on macOS; and a Vulkan 1.3-capable GPU with current drivers. | A legally obtained game directory, ELF file, or ZArchive dump. Its launcher can scan configured folders for game directories containing eboot.bin. |
Early-stage, with limited compatibility. The project says external low-level emulation modules are neither required nor planned. |
| SharpEmu repository | Windows x64, Linux x64, or macOS x64; a Vulkan-capable GPU and current graphics driver. | A legally obtained game’s eboot.bin. |
Experimental; compatibility and performance vary by game, operating system, and GPU driver. The consulted README does not establish a general firmware workflow. |
These are the projects’ stated compatibility requirements, not a recommended gaming-PC specification. The documentation cited here gives no independently tested minimum CPU, RAM, or graphics-card tier, and Vulkan support alone does not establish that a game will run at a usable speed.

- Heighten Your Senses. Discover Deeper, highly immersive gaming experiences.
- Feel your in-game actions and environment simulated through haptic feedback
- Chat online through the built-in microphone or connect a headset directly via the 3.5mm jack
- Play on more devices Connect using a USB Type-C cable or Bluetooth wireless technology so you can easily play on more devices including Windows PC and Mac computers, Android and iOS mobile phones.
- Elevate PC gaming with advanced features like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in a range titles
Keep KytyPS5 build tools separate from normal use
KytyPS5’s Windows build instructions list CMake, Ninja, Visual Studio 2022 or Build Tools with Clang tools, and Qt 6. Those are requirements for building the project from source, not listed runtime requirements for an ordinary user launching a ready-made build.
How to set up PS5 emulation on a PC
Because the projects have different requirements and do not document one shared installation flow, use the instructions for the specific emulator you choose. The steps below stay within the workflows their documentation describes.

- Haptic feedback - Feel physically responsive feedback to your in-game actions with dual actuators which replace traditional rumble motors. In your hands, these dynamic vibrations can simulate the feeling of everything from environments to the recoil of different weapons. .Operating temperature : 41 °F to 95 °F (5 °C to 35 °C)
- Adaptive triggers - Experience varying levels of force and tension as you interact with your in-game gear and environments. From pulling back an increasingly tight bowstring to hitting the brakes on a speeding car, feel physically connected to your on-screen actions.
- Built-in microphone and headset jack - Chat with friends online using the built-in microphone or by connecting a headset to the 3.5mm jack. Easily switch voice capture on and off at a moment’s notice with the dedicated mute button. Internet and account for PlayStation Network required.
- DualSense Controller PS5 and PC compatible. Not compatible with PS4.
- PS Remote Play requires Remote Play App connected to Wi-Fi, PS4 or PS5 console with the latest system software and compatible game. A PS4 or PS5 console with a wired connection via a LAN cable is recommended. Version 4.0 of the Remote Play App on iOS and iPadOS or version 4.1 on macOS is required for games to be playable with the controller over Bluetooth.
- Choose a project and check its current instructions. Start with the KytyPS5 README or SharpEmu repository linked above. Confirm that your operating system, processor architecture, graphics hardware, and driver meet that project’s stated requirements.
- Obtain the emulator through the project’s own distribution method. Follow the current instructions published by that project. The documentation cited here does not establish a single installer, release-download path, or set of installation screens that applies to both projects.
- Prepare a game input the chosen project documents. KytyPS5 accepts a legally obtained game directory, ELF, or ZArchive dump; its launcher can scan folders you configure for directories containing
eboot.bin. SharpEmu documents launching a legally obtained game’seboot.bin. Use only files you are legally entitled to use. - Launch the input using the project’s own usage instructions. Do not apply another emulator’s firmware, file-conversion, or launch instructions unless the chosen project explicitly documents them.
- Check the project’s current compatibility information for the specific game. A title appearing in a folder or being accepted as an input does not establish that it will boot, render correctly, or perform well.
Does PS5 emulation require PS5 firmware?
Do not assume that a PS5 firmware package is required. KytyPS5 says external low-level emulation modules are not currently required and are not planned; SharpEmu’s consulted usage documentation describes a game’s eboot.bin but does not specify a PS5 firmware package or a general firmware installation process. That is not evidence that every emulator has the same requirements: check the instructions for the particular project and build rather than transferring a procedure from another system.
In particular, shadPS4 identifies itself as a PS4 emulator. PS4 firmware guidance should not be treated as PS5 setup guidance.

Which PS5 game files can you use?
Use the input documented by your selected emulator, not a presumed universal PS5 dump format. KytyPS5 documents a legally obtained game directory, ELF file, or ZArchive dump; its launcher’s folder scan looks for game directories containing eboot.bin. SharpEmu documents launching a legally obtained game’s eboot.bin. The cited pages do not provide a universal extraction or decryption tutorial.
Whether copying, decrypting, or using a particular game or firmware file is lawful depends on the jurisdiction and circumstances. The emulator documentation cited here does not provide legal advice for every case; use only files you are entitled to use and check applicable law.

What to expect from experimental PS5 emulators
KytyPS5 describes itself as early-stage and warns that compatibility is limited and may change between builds. SharpEmu likewise labels itself experimental and says compatibility and performance vary by game, host operating system, and GPU driver. Consequently, meeting a project’s hardware requirements does not guarantee that a commercial game will work, and the sources here do not establish a reliable list of playable titles or performance benchmarks.
RPCSX describes itself as an experimental PS4 and PS5 emulator for Linux, but its consulted README does not establish a beginner setup, firmware workflow, or minimum PC specification. It is therefore not a basis for filling in the setup details missing from KytyPS5 or SharpEmu.
