For the legacy Conan Exiles branch, install Savage Wilds with Workshop mod ID 2377569193, set ServerDefaultMap=/Game/Mods/Savage_Wilds/Savage_Wilds in Engine.ini, save, and restart the server. Every connecting player must use the same game branch, Savage Wilds build, other mods, and load order. The legacy Workshop item is currently marked removed and incompatible with Conan Exiles Enhanced, so verify a current Team WildCypher build and ID before deploying on the Unreal Engine 5 version.
Godlike.Host offers hosted Conan Exiles servers with its own game panel, SFTP access and free DDoS protection, if you would rather not host it yourself.
What Savage Wilds adds—and which version this guide covers
Savage Wilds is a full-size custom map from Team WildCypher. The project site describes a handmade world of approximately 36 km² with four factions, eight dungeons, caravan fast travel, seasonal systems, event systems, and recipes from the Exiled Lands plus most Isle of Siptah recipes. The project’s stated design goal is that “Nothing in the base game is altered.” In practical terms, it is a map-and-content mod rather than a replacement for Conan Exiles’ core rules.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThis procedure covers the legacy PC server branch documented by current hosting instructions. Its Steam Workshop entry is titled (Legacy) Savage Wilds 1.5.63, uses Workshop/mod ID 2377569193, and is approximately 1.7 GB uncompressed. The Workshop page currently reports that the item was removed from the community and is incompatible with Conan Exiles Enhanced.
Funcom moved the PC game to Unreal Engine 5 in the Enhanced release on May 5, 2026. Funcom also notes that mod support depends on compatibility with the new version. Therefore, do not assume that the legacy ID, package, or map path works on Enhanced. Obtain the current Team WildCypher release information for the branch you intend to run, and use the legacy values below only when both server and clients are on the legacy branch.

Decide which server branch you are running
Legacy Conan Exiles
Use the legacy instructions when the server and all players are using the pre-Enhanced PC branch supported by the Workshop item described above. The values are:
- Workshop ID:
2377569193 - Map path:
/Game/Mods/Savage_Wilds/Savage_Wilds - Map configuration section:
[/Script/EngineSettings.GameMapsSettings]
The server must be restarted after the mod and map settings are saved.

Enhanced is the Unreal Engine 5 PC release dated May 5, 2026. The legacy Workshop listing explicitly says it is incompatible with Enhanced, so installing ID 2377569193 on an Enhanced server is not a supported plan. Look for a current Team WildCypher build that specifically names Enhanced support and provides its current distribution method and ID. Do not carry the legacy Engine.ini path over automatically; use the path supplied for that build.
Why the branch check comes first
A server can have a correctly typed ID and map path yet still fail if its executable branch and the clients’ branches differ. Treat “legacy versus Enhanced” as a prerequisite, not a troubleshooting detail. A client on one branch cannot be made compatible merely by changing the map field.
Prerequisites and preparation
Before changing files, gather the following:
- A Conan Exiles server running the same branch that your players will use.
- Permission to stop and start the server.
- Access to the host’s Workshop Mods/Mods settings or to the server’s files.
- A current Savage Wilds package for that branch. For the legacy procedure, this is the Workshop item identified by ID
2377569193when it is available to your server and clients. - A way to edit
Engine.inior the equivalent server-properties fields. - The same Savage Wilds build, every additional server mod, and the same load order on each client.
Stop the server before editing its mod list or map settings. This prevents a running process from overwriting a file while you are saving it and gives the restart a clean opportunity to load the map.
Install Savage Wilds through a control panel
Control panels use different labels, but the documented workflow is the same: stop the instance, enter the Workshop ID, set the custom map, save, and restart.

- Includes a 6 inch Conan the Barbarian polyresin figurine, a custom comic book, 3 soundtracks featuring the music from Conan Exiles as well as the music from Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures and Age of Conan: Rise of the Godslayer, an artbook, a map of the world of Conan Exiles, a code to unlock 6 full-color digital comic books from Dark Horse Comics, a code to unlock the digital rule book created by Modiphius for their Conan pen and paper RPG, and a code to unlock the “Coming of Conan” eBook!
- Dominate the Exiled Lands - Carve out your piece of the Exiled Lands, taking it from other players if you must! Build siege weapons and use explosives to break down the walls of your enemy’s city.
- Survive in a Savage Land - Dress well or light a campfire to stay warm and make sure to cool yourself down in the heat. Hunt, cook, eat, and drink to stay alive. Build a shelter to weather scouring sandstorms.
- Brutal, Bloody Combat - Fight vicious monsters and other players using an action-oriented, combo-based combat system. Dodge, block, and learn to master the true art of combat to become the greatest fighter in the Exiled Lands.
- Play Together or Alone - Play alone locally or fight for survival and dominance in persistent multiplayer on public servers. You can also host your own server and invite others to join you in a world where you have full control of the rules and settings. Want to play with just handful of friends? Try co-op mode!
- Stop the server. Use the panel’s Stop, Shutdown, or equivalent control and wait until the process is fully offline.
- Open the mod configuration. Go to the panel’s Workshop Mods, Mods, or equivalent field. Some panels expose this as a server-properties editor rather than a separate mod page.
- Add the legacy Workshop ID. Enter
2377569193as a Workshop Mod ID. Enter the number itself, not the Workshop URL and not the map path. - Open the map setting. Find the panel’s Map field or open the server’s
Engine.inieditor. The setting must be placed under[/Script/EngineSettings.GameMapsSettings]. - Set the map path exactly. Use
/Game/Mods/Savage_Wilds/Savage_Wilds, preserving the capitalization, underscores, slashes, and absence of a file extension. - Save the configuration. If the panel has separate Save or Apply buttons for mods and properties, use both before starting the server.
- Start the server and wait for the mod download. Workshop retrieval and first startup can take longer than a normal restart because the legacy package is approximately 1.7 GB uncompressed.
- Join only after the server is fully ready. The first successful boot should load Savage Wilds as the default map rather than the previous map.
When the panel provides both fields in one server-properties file, the equivalent entries are:
Workshop Mod IDs: 2377569193
Map: /Game/Mods/Savage_Wilds/Savage_Wilds
The exact property labels vary by host, so use the panel’s displayed names. The values themselves do not change for the legacy branch.
Set the map directly in Engine.ini
If the panel does not expose a Map field, edit the server configuration directly. The relevant Windows server file is:
ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/Engine.ini
Add or edit the following section:
[/Script/EngineSettings.GameMapsSettings]
ServerDefaultMap=/Game/Mods/Savage_Wilds/Savage_Wilds
- Keep the section header in square brackets exactly as shown.
- Use one
ServerDefaultMapline in that section; remove an older value if the file contains a conflicting one. - Do not add quotation marks, a trailing
.pak, or a filesystem drive path. This is an Unreal asset path, not the location of the downloaded mod file. - Save the file while the server is stopped, then restart the server.
Funcom identifies Engine.ini and ServerSettings.ini as the key Conan Exiles server configuration files. Savage Wilds’ default-map value belongs in Engine.ini under the map-settings section shown above; ordinary gameplay settings belong in their own configuration areas.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Self-hosted installation when no panel is available
Install and initialize the dedicated server
Install the official Conan Exiles Dedicated Server from Steam tools and run it once. The first launch creates the WindowsServer configuration directory, including the location used for Engine.ini. Stop the process before making the mod changes.
Deploy the mod files
For manual deployment, Conan Exiles’ technical manual instructs administrators to place each server mod’s .pak file in:
Rank #3
- Explore a giant world, from the burning desert in the South to the snow-capped mountains in the North
- stay warm, cool yourself down, drink and eat, weather scouring sandstorms, prevent your mind from being corrupted when exploring dark dungeons, and battle vicious monsters to stay alive
- harvest resources to craft tools and weapons, then build anything from a small home to entire cities piece by piece
ConanSandbox/Mods
List the mod filenames one per line in:
modlist.txt
The technical manual requires the client to have the same mods and load order to connect. Keep the filename spelling and line order identical between the server’s modlist.txt and the client’s active mod list. Do not substitute the Workshop ID for a filename in this file; the ID belongs in a Workshop-aware control panel, while manual deployment uses the downloaded .pak filenames.

Set the default map
Use the same Engine.ini section and value as the panel method:
[/Script/EngineSettings.GameMapsSettings]
ServerDefaultMap=/Game/Mods/Savage_Wilds/Savage_Wilds
Save the mod list and map configuration, then start the server. A self-hosted setup gives you direct control over files, but you are responsible for obtaining a branch-compatible package, keeping the package and load order synchronized, and maintaining the server process and network environment.
Control panel or self-hosting?
| Decision point | Control-panel host | Self-hosted server |
|---|---|---|
| Initial setup | Enter the Workshop ID and map path in labeled fields, then restart. | Install the dedicated server, initialize it, place .pak files in ConanSandbox/Mods, edit modlist.txt, and edit Engine.ini. |
| Access to Engine.ini | May be exposed as a Map field or an in-panel file editor. | Direct access to ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/Engine.ini. |
| Mod-file access | The panel normally retrieves Workshop content from the ID. | You manage the .pak files and their filenames manually. |
| Workshop updating | Can be handled by the host’s Workshop integration; confirm how that host handles the legacy branch. | You are responsible for obtaining and replacing the correct package. |
| Firewall and process maintenance | The host manages the machine and server process around its own service. | You maintain the operating system, firewall, process, storage, and uptime. |
| Legacy-branch support | Verify that the host still offers the legacy Conan Exiles branch and accepts the legacy Workshop item. | You choose the executable branch, but every client must use that same branch. |
Choose a panel when you want labeled Workshop and Map fields and less direct file maintenance. Choose self-hosting when you need full control over package files, modlist.txt, and configuration. Neither method resolves the Enhanced incompatibility reported for the legacy Workshop item.
Prepare clients before they connect
Server installation is only half of the setup. A player can be rejected even when the server starts normally if the local mod state differs.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Match the game branch. Use legacy on both sides for the legacy package, or use Enhanced on both sides only with a build that explicitly supports Enhanced.
- Install the same Savage Wilds build. For the legacy branch, that means the same Workshop item/version represented by ID
2377569193when available. - Match every additional mod. The client must have all server mods, not only Savage Wilds.
- Match load order. Keep the same order as the server’s Workshop configuration or
modlist.txt. - Restart the game client after changing mods. This ensures the client rebuilds its active mod list before attempting to join.
If the server reports a mod mismatch, compare the branch, Workshop IDs, package versions, and ordering first. Changing ServerDefaultMap will not correct a client-side mod mismatch.

Troubleshooting by symptom
The server starts on the wrong map
- Confirm that
ServerDefaultMapis under[/Script/EngineSettings.GameMapsSettings], not under an unrelated section. - Check the value character by character:
/Game/Mods/Savage_Wilds/Savage_Wilds. - Remove or replace a duplicate
ServerDefaultMapentry that points to another map. - Save the configuration while the server is stopped and perform a full restart.
The server cannot find the mod
- On a control panel, verify that
2377569193is in the Workshop Mods field and that the host actually supports the legacy branch. - On a self-hosted server, verify that the Savage Wilds
.pakis inConanSandbox/Modsand that its exact filename appears on its own line inmodlist.txt. - Check available storage and allow time for the approximately 1.7 GB uncompressed legacy package to download and unpack.
- Confirm that you did not install the legacy package on Enhanced, which the Workshop page marks incompatible.
A player receives a mod-mismatch error
- Compare legacy versus Enhanced branch selection.
- Compare the Savage Wilds Workshop ID or package version on server and client.
- Compare every additional mod and the exact load order.
- On a manually managed server, compare the server’s
modlist.txtlines with the client’s active mod list.
The panel has no Workshop or Map field
Use the panel’s file manager or configuration editor to open ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/Engine.ini. If the host does not permit mod-file access or does not offer the legacy branch, the documented legacy procedure cannot be completed there; choose a host that exposes the required settings or self-host the dedicated server.
The map path looks like a normal Windows folder
Do not convert the Unreal asset path into a drive path. /Game/Mods/Savage_Wilds/Savage_Wilds is the map asset reference that belongs in ServerDefaultMap. The Windows folder used for manual mod files is a separate location: ConanSandbox/Mods.
Updating, changing branches, or removing Savage Wilds
Updating within the legacy branch
Keep the server and clients on the same build. A control panel may retrieve Workshop updates automatically, but the host’s behavior and continued access to the removed legacy item must be verified. With manual deployment, replace the server package only when you can distribute the same build to every client, then confirm the modlist.txt filename and order.
Moving from legacy to Enhanced
Do not treat an Enhanced game update as a routine mod update. The legacy Workshop page reports incompatibility, so wait for a Team WildCypher package that explicitly supports Enhanced and follow that package’s current ID, installation method, and map path. Update the server and all clients as one coordinated change.
Removing the map
Stop the server, remove the Savage Wilds entry from the panel or manual mod list, and change ServerDefaultMap to the map asset you intend to run. For self-hosting, remove the corresponding .pak from ConanSandbox/Mods only after it is no longer listed in modlist.txt. Restart before asking clients to connect.
Final deployment checklist
- Server and clients are on the same Conan Exiles branch.
- You verified that the Savage Wilds build is intended for that branch.
- Legacy deployment uses Workshop ID
2377569193only when that legacy item is available. Engine.inicontains[/Script/EngineSettings.GameMapsSettings]andServerDefaultMap=/Game/Mods/Savage_Wilds/Savage_Wilds.- Self-hosted deployment places the
.pakinConanSandbox/Modsand lists its filename inmodlist.txt. - All additional mods and their load order match on server and clients.
- The server was stopped while files were edited and restarted afterward.
- You allowed time for the legacy package’s download and first startup.
- You have not assumed that the legacy Workshop item works with Enhanced.
The reliable legacy recipe is therefore straightforward—install ID 2377569193, set the exact Savage Wilds map asset in Engine.ini, restart, and synchronize every client—but the compatibility warning is decisive. Because the old Workshop listing is removed and marked incompatible with Enhanced, verify the current Team WildCypher release before committing a live server to either branch.
