To test 4K 60fps YouTube Live playback on a Jio set-top box, open a live stream that offers 2160p60, select that quality in the YouTube player, and check whether playback stays smooth. Jio markets its set-top box as 4K, but that label alone does not confirm that every box, software version, TV, network and YouTube Live stream will deliver 2160p60.
What a valid 4K60 test checks
YouTube uses “2160p (4K)” for 3840 × 2160 pixels. A useful test checks the quality offered by the stream, the quality selected in the player and how playback behaves over time—not just the set-top box’s advertised resolution. YouTube’s resolution guidance explains its resolution labels.
The test stream must offer 2160p60. If its quality menu tops out at 1080p or a lower frame rate, it cannot establish whether the Jio box can play YouTube Live at 4K60. YouTube’s live encoder settings identify 4K/2160p at 60 fps as a supported stream format; that does not mean every live stream is published in that format.
How to test playback

Prepare the box and TV
Install any offered updates for the Jio set-top box and YouTube app. Confirm the TV is displaying the input connected to the Jio box. Jio advises using the latest device software and a stable internet connection for best performance in its JioTV+ FAQ.

Choose a suitable live stream
Find a YouTube Live stream whose player quality menu offers 2160p60. Open the player settings, choose Quality, and select 2160p60 if it appears. Record the menu’s highest option. If 2160p60 is not offered by the stream, choose another stream before judging the box.

Observe sustained playback
Let the stream play long enough to notice buffering, pauses, visible judder, image breakup or quality changes. Note whether 2160p60 remains selected and whether playback stays continuous. A momentary appearance of the option is not the same as stable playback.

Record diagnostics if available
If the app exposes playback statistics, note the current and optimal resolution and dropped frames. Do not assume that every Jio box’s standard YouTube app has a particular statistics overlay: the detailed official overlay explanation available is for YouTube TV, a separate service. Repeat under a simpler network load
If quality is unstable, pause other household downloads and repeat. If practical, test over a wired connection, then compare with Wi-Fi. YouTube recommends 20 Mbps sustained speed for 4K UHD playback in its system requirements. This is general playback guidance, not a guarantee that a particular stream will run at 4K60 at that speed.

How to interpret the result
- 2160p60 is missing from the quality menu: First verify that the chosen live stream actually offers 2160p60. If it does, record the result and check again with another known 2160p60 stream; the missing option alone does not identify whether the stream, app, device, display or network is responsible.
- 2160p60 appears but playback buffers or drops quality: Repeat with household downloads paused and, where practical, a wired connection. This helps distinguish a stream or device limitation from unstable network conditions, without proving a single cause.
- 2160p60 stays selected and playback looks stable: Record that as the result for the tested setup. It is not certification for every Jio box, app version, TV, network or live stream.
For a useful support report, include the Jio box model if known, its software and YouTube app versions, TV model or resolution capability, stream link, highest quality shown, selected quality, whether it remained stable, and any visible playback statistics. Jio’s product page describes its set-top box as 4K, but the cited Jio materials do not certify YouTube Live 4K60 across every hardware and software combination. Avoid buying a replacement box based only on a missing menu option.
Keep viewer and broadcaster bandwidth figures separate
The 20 Mbps figure is YouTube’s sustained-speed recommendation for viewer playback of 4K UHD. Separately, YouTube’s live encoder table recommends a 35 Mbps H.264 ingestion bitrate for a broadcaster sending a 4K/2160p60 stream. That 35 Mbps figure concerns upload from the broadcaster to YouTube; it is not the viewer’s download requirement.

Keep the app and service straight
Run this test in the YouTube app and use a YouTube Live stream. JioTV+ is Jio’s content-aggregator app, not YouTube; its live channels are not a substitute for this test.
