You can’t set up UPI to receive YouTube Super Chat earnings in India. Google’s AdSense for YouTube payment-method table lists wire transfer for India. Google’s UPI instructions are for paying Google Ads in advance—not for receiving creator earnings.
How Super Chat earnings reach you
Eligible YouTube creators receive YouTube earnings through AdSense for YouTube. You set up or link that account through YouTube Studio. YouTube earnings are tracked in a dedicated YouTube payments account, which has its own payment threshold separate from any other AdSense payments account.
The payment direction matters: with Google Ads UPI prepayment, you send money to Google to fund advertising. With an AdSense for YouTube wire transfer, Google sends finalized creator earnings to your bank account. Google describes UPI on its Google Ads help page as “a payment method that you can use to make prepayments.” That is not a creator-payout option.
Set up your YouTube payout method
- Open YouTube Studio and set up or link AdSense for YouTube. Use the account intended for creator earnings. Google says only one AdSense or AdSense for YouTube account is allowed under the same payee name, so don’t create a duplicate.
- Complete the account checks Google requests. Submit tax information and follow any identity or address verification instructions shown for your account. Verification requirements can depend on account thresholds and instructions.
- Wait until payment-method selection is available. Google enables adding a payout method after the YouTube payments account reaches its payment-method selection threshold. Thresholds depend on reporting currency; check your account rather than assuming a particular amount.
- In AdSense for YouTube, go to Payments → Payments info → Add payment method. Enter the bank details requested, choose whether to make the method primary if that option appears, and save.
- Use the method shown for your India payment address. Google’s country table lists wire transfer for AdSense for YouTube in India. If a method is absent from the Add payment method page, Google says it is unavailable in that country. Follow the exact fields and instructions displayed in your account.
- Check the YouTube payments account for balance and payment status. Its threshold is separate from any other AdSense payments account you may have.
Why Google Ads UPI instructions don’t work for creator payouts
Google’s Ads UPI flow is for prepaying an advertising account. Its instructions specify an India billing address, an INR Google Ads account, prepay billing, and a bank account registered for UPI; Google says this option is currently available in the Google Ads Android app. Those steps fund ads—they do not configure how YouTube pays a creator.
When YouTube pays finalized earnings
Google says finalized YouTube earnings are generally added to AdSense for YouTube between the 7th and 12th of the month after they are earned. To be included in that month’s payout, your balance must meet the applicable threshold and payment changes must be completed by the 20th. Payments are generally issued between the 21st and 26th; bank transfers may take up to seven working days after issue. These are Google’s stated payment-cycle dates, not a guarantee that a particular bank will post funds on a specific day.
The applicable threshold depends on reporting currency. Google’s India payment-method table confirms wire transfer availability, but does not establish an INR threshold amount here. Check the current threshold shown in your AdSense for YouTube account or Google’s current threshold help information; each payments account must qualify independently.
Super Chat eligibility is separate from payout setup
Having a payout method does not by itself make Super Chat available. Google lists conditions for Super Chat and Super Stickers that include being at least 18, living in a region where the feature is available, and accepting the Commerce Product Module (or the formerly applicable addendum). These determine whether you can offer the fan-paid live-chat features; the AdSense for YouTube payment method determines how eligible earnings are paid.
