Sony calls this feature Console Sharing and Offline Play—not “home console.” Only one PS5 can have it enabled for your account at a time.
What Console Sharing and Offline Play does
When enabled, other people using that PS5 can play games and media that your account purchased and downloaded, even when the console is offline. They can also use some PlayStation Plus benefits; Sony does not say that every subscription benefit is shared. See Sony’s Console Sharing and Offline Play guide for the current policy.
How to enable it on your PS5
- Sign in to the account that owns the games or media you want to share.
- From the PS5 home screen, open Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play.
- Select Enable.
Sony says the feature is allowed automatically on the PS5 used for the account’s first PlayStation sign-in. If you want to enable it on a different PS5, first disable it on the console where it is currently enabled.
Move sharing to another PS5
If you can access the old console
- On the old PS5, go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play.
- Select Disable.
- On the new PS5, use the same menu path and select Enable.
If you no longer have the old console
Use Account Management to deactivate all devices remotely. Sony permits remote deactivation of all devices only once every six months; follow the instructions on Sony’s support page.

PS5 sharing is separate from PS4 primary-console activation
Console Sharing and Offline Play is the PS5 setting. PS4 uses a separate primary-console activation system. Changing the PS5 setting does not replace or change a PS4’s primary-console activation.
Troubleshoot activation or missing content
If you cannot enable sharing
- Check PlayStation service status.
- Update the PS5 system software and restart the console.
- Turn off your router for at least five minutes, then restart it.
- If sharing is enabled on another PS5, disable it there before trying again.
If a game or benefit is unavailable
- Confirm that the account with sharing enabled purchased the content.
- Check that the relevant PlayStation Plus subscription is active if the unavailable feature depends on it.
- If a game shows a padlock icon, check for a licensing or network issue.
For Sony’s current steps and policy details, consult its Console Sharing and Offline Play support guide.
