The Warband system gives characters on the same Battle.net account a shared set of tools, but it does not make every item, reputation, reward, or appearance interchangeable. Use the Warband Bank at any banker to move eligible items and gold manually. Use Warband reputations, achievements, and collections for progress that updates automatically. Gear marked Warbound until Equipped can travel between eligible characters before someone equips it; ordinary bound gear cannot.
The rules apply to characters on your Battle.net account in the same region, across realms and factions. Blizzard also describes Warbands as spanning subscriptions within that region. The exact behavior of individual items, reputations, and rewards still depends on their tooltip and system rules.

What a Warband shares—and what it does not
A Warband is an account-level group for your World of Warcraft characters in one region. It is not a guild, realm, faction, or character bank. A character on one realm can use the shared systems with a character on another realm, and Alliance and Horde characters in the same regional Battle.net account can participate.

| System | What is shared | How it works | Main boundary |
|---|---|---|---|
| Warband Bank | Eligible items and manually transferred gold | Deposit at a banker, then another Warband character withdraws the contents | Items must meet the bank’s eligibility rule; character banks remain separate |
| Warbound until Equipped gear | Some pieces of equipment before they are equipped | Move the item through the Warband Bank or another permitted transfer method | Only gear carrying the Warbound-until-Equipped behavior qualifies; equipping it ends that transferable state |
| Warband progression | Converted reputations, achievements, and other account-level progress | Progress is recorded for the Warband rather than copied as an item | Some reputations and rewards remain character-specific |
| Collections and appearances | Most collected appearances and collection progress | Unlocks are recorded in the account collection | Collecting an appearance does not guarantee that every class can use it |
That distinction matters. You do not “withdraw” a reputation or transmog appearance from the bank. Conversely, putting an item in the Warband Bank does not automatically make it usable by every class.

How to move gold and items through the Warband Bank
The Warband Bank is the direct-transfer method. Blizzard describes it as shared storage available at bankers, separate from each character’s personal bank. The procedure is deliberately manual: one character deposits, and another character withdraws.
Deposit an eligible item
- Log in to the character that currently holds the item.
- Go to a banker and open the Warband Bank rather than the character’s regular bank.
- Drag the item into a Warband Bank tab. Blizzard’s overview says a non-soulbound item can be deposited.
- Close the bank and log in to the receiving character on the same regional Battle.net account.
- Visit a banker, open the Warband Bank, and withdraw the item into that character’s bags or personal bank.
Use the item’s current tooltip as the final check. “Non-soulbound” is the broad eligibility description in Blizzard’s feature preview; a particular item can still have its own restriction, class requirement, or other binding behavior.
Transfer gold
- At a banker, open the Warband Bank on the character holding the gold.
- Choose the bank’s gold controls and deposit the amount you want to make available.
- Log in to the other Warband character.
- Open the Warband Bank at a banker and withdraw the amount that character needs.
This is an in-game account transfer, not an in-game mail between characters. The gold remains in the shared bank until a character withdraws it, so the receiving character does not need to be on the same realm or faction as the depositor, provided both belong to the same regional Warband.

Use reagents without taking them out
The Warband Bank can supply reagents for crafting without first withdrawing those reagents into the crafter’s bags. When a crafting recipe searches available materials, the bank can be used as a source. This saves a deposit-and-withdraw step, but it does not turn every item in the bank into a universally usable crafting material; the recipe and reagent rules still apply.
Bank capacity and dated figures
Blizzard’s April 17, 2024 Warbands overview described up to five Warband Bank tabs, with 98 inventory slots per tab. It also said tabs are purchased for increasing amounts of gold. Those figures describe the launch-era design, not a guaranteed October 2026 patch value. If your current interface shows different tab counts, slot counts, or prices, follow the in-game display and current official patch notes.
Organize the bank so transfers are less error-prone
Use one tab for common crafting reagents, another for gear waiting for an alt, and a third for consumables or profession supplies. Clear labels reduce the chance of withdrawing the wrong item on a crowded account. Before logging out, confirm that the item stack moved completely and that the gold balance in the bank changed by the intended amount. Because the bank is shared, a second character can withdraw an item immediately; there is no separate delivery queue to wait for.
Remember that ordinary character-bank slots are still private. If an item is in a character’s personal bank, another alt cannot see it until you move it to the Warband Bank. Likewise, depositing an item does not create a duplicate: the original character no longer has that physical item.

Move Warbound-until-Equipped gear before equipping it
A Warbound-until-Equipped item can be passed among characters in your Warband while it retains that status. Put it in the Warband Bank, log in to the intended character, and withdraw it. Once a character equips the item, the transferable state ends and the usual binding rules apply.
Read the item’s binding line before moving it. An item that is already soulbound, or that lacks the Warbound-until-Equipped designation, should not be treated as shareable merely because it is armor or a weapon. The Warband Bank is not a way to undo a character bind.
What “bonus gear” means
Blizzard’s preview says bonus gear can sometimes be available at a tier below the gear from the source and may be usable by any class. “Sometimes,” “may,” and “a tier below” are important qualifications: this describes a possible reward pattern, not a promise that every activity produces a transferable copy or that every class can equip every item.
A safe gear-transfer workflow
- Inspect the item immediately after receiving it.
- Confirm that the tooltip identifies it as Warbound until Equipped rather than soulbound.
- Deposit it before equipping if another character is the intended user.
- Withdraw it on the destination character and check level, armor type, weapon type, and class requirements.
- Equip only after confirming that this is the character you want to bind it to.
If the bank rejects the item, do not repeatedly relog expecting the restriction to disappear. The rejection normally means the item does not meet the current transfer rule or has already become bound.
Transferability is not power parity
A transferable piece can still be unsuitable for an alt because of item level, required character level, armor specialization, weapon proficiency, or class restrictions. Check those details after withdrawal and before equipping. A bonus item being described as potentially usable by any class does not guarantee identical stats, ideal secondary attributes, or equal value for every specialization.
What progression is shared across WoW alts?
Warband reputations use the highest character progress
For reputations converted to Warband status, progress made by one character is available to the Warband. The displayed level is the furthest progress achieved by any character, not the sum of every character’s progress. Blizzard’s example is straightforward: if one character is at Renown 5 and another is at Renown 10, the Warband displays Renown 10, not Renown 15.
This is shared progress, not duplicated progress bars. Advancing a lower character to a level already reached by another does not add the two values together. Before assuming a reputation is shared, check whether that reputation has been converted to Warband status; Blizzard explicitly notes that some reputations are excluded.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsRewards can still be character-specific
Shared reputation does not mean that every reward is granted to every character. Blizzard distinguishes Warband-wide rewards, which are granted once, from rewards that still need to be collected separately on each character. A mount, currency, unlock, title, or item can therefore follow a different collection rule from the reputation level that unlocked it.

When a reward seems to be missing, identify which of these cases applies:
- The reputation level is shared, but the reward requires a character-by-character claim.
- The reward is Warband-wide and was already granted to another character.
- The reputation is not one of the reputations converted to Warband status.
- The reward has an independent class, faction, or activity restriction.
Achievements and other account-level systems
Blizzard’s Warband launch announcement lists shared Renown, achievements, and collections among the account-wide systems introduced with Warbands. That announcement is not a complete list of every exception or every system in the game. Treat each interface as authoritative: an achievement or unlock that appears in the account-wide collection is available there, while a character-only reward still follows its own rule.
Do not use a character’s quest log or currency total as proof that an entire account-wide system is missing. Some interfaces show the account result only after a login, zone change, or opening the relevant collection panel. If two characters appear to show different values, compare the named reputation or achievement in its dedicated interface rather than relying on a temporary popup.
How transmog and appearances are shared
Collecting an appearance is separate from using it
Most appearances can be collected by any Warband character regardless of whether that character can equip the item. For example, a character can contribute an appearance to the collection even when the item’s armor or weapon type is not usable by that character.
Collection does not override class restrictions. Class-specific appearances remain an exception, and the character that wants to apply an appearance must still meet the appearance’s use requirements. In practical terms:
- Unlocking: the item or event records an appearance in the Warband collection.
- Using: the transmog interface checks whether the current character can use that appearance.
Do not delete, vendor, or equip an item solely to test whether its appearance is available. First look in the appearance collection on the character that will use it, then check the item’s class and equipment restrictions.
Practical appearance workflow
- On the character that receives an item, determine whether it grants a new appearance.
- Allow the collection to register the appearance before discarding the item.
- Switch to the character whose outfit you want to change.
- Search the transmog collection and verify that the appearance is usable by that class.
- If it is absent, check whether the appearance is class-specific or whether the original item was never collected.
When an alt cannot access something
The Warband Bank is missing or shows no shared contents
- Confirm that both characters use the same Battle.net account and regional game grouping.
- Use a banker and open the Warband Bank tab, not the character’s personal bank.
- Check whether the contents were deposited on the other character or are still in that character’s bags.
- Allow for launch-era conversion processing if the account is newly entering the Warband system.
Blizzard’s July 2024 launch article warned that the first-login Warband conversion could take up to 20 minutes or longer. That is a dated launch estimate rather than a current service guarantee. If a current conversion appears stuck beyond the normal in-game process, consult the latest official support or patch information rather than repeatedly moving items.

The item will not deposit
Check the binding line first. Non-soulbound items are the stated general category for Warband Bank deposits; soulbound items are not made transferable by changing characters or realms. For gear, look specifically for Warbound until Equipped. If the item has already been equipped and bound, the bank cannot restore its former state.

The receiving character cannot equip the gear
Transferability and usability are separate checks. A Warbound-until-Equipped piece can move successfully and still fail the destination character’s armor, weapon, level, stat, or class requirements. Return it to the bank or send it to a character that can use it; do not assume the Warband label removes equipment restrictions.
The reputation level looks different than expected
Compare the characters’ highest levels rather than adding their progress. A converted reputation should display the highest achieved value. If the expected reputation is not shared at all, it may be excluded from Warband conversion, or the visible reward may be character-specific even though the reputation itself is shared.
An appearance is collected but unavailable
Search the collection on the character that wants to transmog it. A collected appearance can remain unusable because it is class-specific or otherwise restricted. Collection status answers “has the account unlocked this look?”; the transmog interface answers “can this character wear it?”
Cross-region and account mistakes
Warband sharing is regional. Characters on a different Battle.net account or in a different regional game grouping are not part of the same Warband, even if they use similar names or belong to the same household. Verify the account and region before moving valuable items or assuming a missing character is a display bug. Faction and realm differences within the same region are not, by themselves, barriers to the Warband systems described here.

- You want to move gold: deposit it in the Warband Bank at a banker, then withdraw it on the destination character.
- You want to move a crafting material: deposit the eligible reagent; crafting can draw from the Warband Bank without withdrawal.
- You want to move gear: inspect the tooltip for Warbound until Equipped and transfer it before equipping.
- You want to share a reputation level: check whether that reputation is converted to Warband status; the highest character progress becomes the displayed progress.
- You want to share a look: collect the appearance, then verify the destination character’s class and equipment eligibility.
- You want to move a soulbound item or already-equipped gear: the Warband system is not designed to bypass that binding.
The useful mental model is simple: the Warband Bank moves eligible objects and gold; Warband progression records the best account-level result; collections record unlocks. Each system has its own exceptions, so the item’s tooltip and the current in-game interface take precedence over assumptions based on another system.
Frequently asked questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I send gold to my alts?
Yes. Deposit gold into the Warband Bank at a banker, then log in to another character on the same regional Battle.net account and withdraw it. The transfer works across realms and factions inside that regional Warband.
How do I transfer items between characters?
Place an eligible, generally non-soulbound item in the Warband Bank. The destination character can withdraw it at any banker. Personal character-bank contents are not visible until you move them into the shared bank.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Can I move soulbound gear to an alt?
No. The Warband Bank does not undo a soulbound status. Gear is shareable only when its tooltip permits transfer, such as the Warbound until Equipped state, and that state ends when the item is equipped.

Does Warbound until Equipped mean every class can use the item?
No. Transferability and usability are separate. Check the destination character’s armor, weapon, level, stat, and class requirements after withdrawing the item.
What progress is account-wide in WoW?
Warband-converted reputations, achievements, and collections are among the account-level systems Blizzard introduced. Reputation displays the highest character progress, not a sum, and individual rewards can still require separate collection.
Why did my reputation not add together across alts?
Warband reputation uses the furthest progress reached by any character. A character at Renown 5 and another at Renown 10 produce a displayed value of Renown 10, not Renown 15.
Can any character unlock a transmog appearance?
Most appearances can be collected by any Warband character even if that character cannot equip the item. Class-specific appearances are an exception, and the character using the appearance must still meet its restrictions.
Why can my alt see an appearance but not use it?
Collection and use are different checks. The appearance may be class-specific or otherwise restricted for that character even though the Warband has unlocked it.
How many Warband Bank slots are there?
Blizzard’s April 17, 2024 overview described up to five tabs with 98 slots each, purchased for increasing gold costs. Treat those as launch-era figures and follow the current in-game interface if it differs.
Does crafting use reagents stored in the Warband Bank?
The bank can supply reagents to crafting without withdrawing them first. The recipe must still accept that reagent, and this feature does not make unrelated or restricted items usable in every craft.
