Then other accounts on that PS5 can play eligible games the subscriber has downloaded, subject to subscription, plan, and game-availability limits.
Enable Console Sharing and Offline Play
- Sign in on the PS5 with the account that purchased the games or has the PlayStation Plus membership you want to share.
- Open Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play.
- Select Enable. Sony says this setting is automatically allowed on the first PS5 used to sign in to PlayStation. See PlayStation’s Console Sharing and Offline Play guide.
- While signed in as the subscriber, download the eligible games you want other accounts on this PS5 to play. Those accounts can then use the games on the enabled console, including when it is offline.
Which PlayStation Plus benefits can other accounts use?
Sony allows selected benefits to be shared with other users on the enabled PS5 while the subscriber’s membership is active. What is available depends on the benefit and, for catalog games, the membership plan and the game’s current availability.
| Benefit | Can another account on the enabled PS5 use it? |
|---|---|
| Online multiplayer | Yes, subject to parental controls. |
| Games purchased with a PlayStation Plus discount | Yes, if the subscriber downloaded them. |
| Monthly PlayStation Plus games | Yes, if the subscriber downloaded them and still has an active membership. |
| Game Catalog and Classics Catalog titles | Yes, when the subscriber’s plan includes the title and it remains available; the subscriber must have downloaded it. |
These sharing rules are described in Sony’s PS5 sharing guide and its PlayStation Plus sharing guide.
What is not shared
- Redeeming a Plus game on the other account: the other account cannot claim or redeem the subscriber’s PlayStation Plus games for itself. That differs from playing a game the subscriber has already redeemed and downloaded on the enabled PS5.
- Buying discounted products: the other account cannot use the subscriber’s Plus discount to purchase items from PlayStation Store.
- Online storage and automatic patch downloads: these benefits are not shared with other accounts.
- Early access to time-limited trials: this is not a shared benefit.
Sony lists these exclusions in its PlayStation Plus sharing guidance.

Limits and account conditions
- One PS5 at a time: Console Sharing and Offline Play can be enabled on one PS5 for an account. Sony also allows selected Plus benefits on one primary PS4.
- Same console only: the shared benefits apply to accounts using the enabled PS5; they cannot be shared with a friend playing on a different PS5.
- The subscriber’s access must remain valid: Plus games require an active membership. Catalog access also depends on the subscriber’s plan and whether the title is still available.
- Age and parental controls apply: child family members may be restricted by age ratings and parental-control settings, including for online multiplayer.
For Sony’s full explanation of shared benefits and restrictions, see Share PlayStation Plus benefits.
Moving sharing to a different PS5
If another PS5 is still enabled for Console Sharing and Offline Play, disable the setting on that console before enabling it on the new one. If you can no longer access the old PS5, Sony lets you remotely deactivate devices through Account Management. Remote deactivation of all devices is available once every six months. Follow Sony’s device deactivation instructions.

Troubleshoot sharing or a locked game
- You cannot enable sharing: check whether another PS5 has the setting enabled and turn it off there first.
- The game or benefit is unavailable: confirm that the account with sharing enabled purchased or redeemed the game, downloaded it, has an active Plus membership if required, and still has access to the title under its plan.
- A padlock appears: it may indicate a license or network issue. Check PlayStation service status, install current PS5 system software, restart the console, and restart the router after leaving it off for at least five minutes.
These checks follow Sony’s troubleshooting guidance for Console Sharing and Offline Play.
