Open the PlayStation Plus hub on the console linked to your account and check Monthly Games. If the title is listed there with the monthly-game claim or download option, you can add it while its claim window is open. The console’s local listing is the best practical check for your region; Sony’s general support guidance does not give one universal deadline for every game.
Check the Monthly Games list on your console
Sony points members to the PlayStation Plus hub for the monthly selection. Use the path for your console, then select the title to claim it:

On PS5
- From the Games home screen, scroll right and select PlayStation Plus.
- Open the Benefits tab and choose Monthly Games.
- Highlight the game and select Download.
On PS4
- From the function screen, scroll right and select PlayStation Plus.
- Scroll down to Monthly Games and highlight the game.
- Select Add to Library, then Download.
Menu labels or placement can vary with the console interface, but Sony’s access guide lists these paths for PS5 and PS4: How to access PlayStation Plus games.
Using a browser or the PlayStation App
Sony also says members can select a PlayStation Plus game and start a download remotely through a web browser or the PlayStation App. To verify claimability rather than simply start a download, check the game listing while signed in to the account you use for PlayStation Plus and look for its monthly-game claim action.

Check the deadline in the current local listing
“New games are added every calendar month,” Sony says, but that describes the cadence—not the final claim date for a particular title. The general support pages do not establish one cutoff date or time that applies to every monthly game. Check the live Monthly Games listing and the announcement for that title and month for the applicable deadline.
Availability can differ by country or region. Sony’s US games page advises members to use the PlayStation Plus hub on their console for the complete list available in their country or region. A public page showing another market’s lineup may not match your account’s selection: PlayStation Plus games catalog.

Make sure it is a monthly game, not a catalog title
PlayStation Plus Monthly Games and the Game Catalog are separate benefits. A title appearing in the Game Catalog does not by itself mean it is currently available to claim as a monthly game. Catalog games can also have an end date and leave the service, so check which section the title appears in.
Sony lists Monthly Games as a benefit of Essential, Extra, and Premium. Extra adds Game Catalog access; Premium adds Game Catalog and Classics Catalog access, along with cloud streaming and game trials. You do not need a higher tier solely for Monthly Games if your eligible membership is active. See Sony’s PlayStation Plus support page for plan benefits.

What happens after you claim a monthly game
Monthly games can be added to your library for later play, but access depends on having an active PlayStation Plus membership. Claiming a game is not the same as buying it outright: if your membership is not active, you cannot play it through that membership benefit.
