To share eligible PlayStation Plus benefits with other people using your PS5, enable Console Sharing and Offline Play on the PS5 signed in to the subscriber’s account. Sony permits this setting on one PS5 at a time; it does not share the subscription with a friend using a different console.
How to enable PS Plus sharing on PS5
- Sign in on the PS5 with the account that has the PlayStation Plus membership or owns the relevant games.
- Open Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play.
- Select Enable. The first PS5 used to sign in with the account has this feature enabled automatically, according to Sony’s PS5 setup guidance.
Other accounts using that enabled PS5 can then access the benefits Sony makes shareable. The setting also allows other users to play the account’s purchased and downloaded games and media while the console is offline.
What other accounts can and cannot use
Sony’s sharing guidance lists these benefits for other users on the enabled PS5, subject to the account, game, and plan requirements:
- Online multiplayer, unless restricted by parental controls.
- Monthly Plus games downloaded by the subscriber.
- Games the subscriber downloaded after purchasing them with a PlayStation Plus discount.
- Game Catalog and Classics Catalog games, if the subscriber’s membership plan includes those catalogs and the games remain available.
Sharing does not give the other accounts the subscriber’s full membership. Sony says they cannot redeem PS Plus games on their own accounts through this arrangement, buy products at the subscriber’s PS Plus discount, use the subscriber’s online storage, use auto patch download, or access early time-limited trials. Can you share PS Plus with a friend?
Only if the friend uses the PS5 on which the subscriber enabled Console Sharing and Offline Play. The feature does not give an account on a separate PS5 access to the subscriber’s benefits. Sony limits this setting to one PS5 at a time for the account; other console activation limits are separate.
If you want to move the sharing setup, disable Console Sharing and Offline Play on the old PS5 before enabling it on the new one. Sony’s setup instructions cover changing consoles.

What changes for child family members?
A family manager can share some main PS Plus benefits with child family members who use the enabled console. The child’s access is still subject to age-appropriate restrictions and the family’s parental-control settings. Online multiplayer, in particular, may be restricted by those controls. Sony’s sharing guidance describes these limits.
PS Plus plan and country affect catalog access
Catalog benefits are not identical across membership plans. Sony’s US plan comparison lists Game Catalog access with Extra and Premium, and Classics Catalog access and cloud streaming with Premium. The sharing page makes catalog sharing conditional on the subscriber’s plan. Plan names, included benefits, available games, and terms vary by country and can change, so check the current PlayStation Plus page for your region before relying on a particular catalog title.

Console Sharing is not Share Play
Console Sharing and Offline Play gives other accounts on one PS5 access to eligible purchased content and selected PS Plus benefits. Share Play instead lets an online visitor join a streamed play session; it does not transfer or share the host’s subscription. Sony explains the separate feature in its Share Play guide.

If shared games or benefits do not appear
- Check the account: make sure the account that enabled sharing is the one that purchased or downloaded the content.
- Check the PS5 setting: confirm Console Sharing and Offline Play is enabled on this PS5, and that it has not been left enabled on another PS5.
- Check membership and availability: some content requires an active PS Plus membership, and catalog games must still be available through the subscriber’s plan.
- Check restrictions: parental controls and age limits may prevent a child account from using a benefit or game.
