Use YouTube’s Shopping features to tag and pin a product so viewers can open its listing, and use a creator-controlled overlay if you need a recurring graphic that shows both MRP and the current offer price. YouTube can display product prices, but its documentation does not guarantee that every Shopping surface will show MRP and offer price together. Confirm the offer with the retailer before going live and keep any graphic current.
Choose how viewers will see the product and its price
YouTube Shopping and a stream overlay do different jobs. Shopping connects an eligible viewer to a tagged product and its retailer listing; an overlay lets you present your own MRP-and-offer-price message on screen.

Set up YouTube Shopping for the live
- Check eligibility and product availability. Shopping features and product visibility depend on creator eligibility, content restrictions, region and delivery availability. Confirm that the product can be shown to the intended audience.
- Tag the product. In YouTube Studio or the live workflow, use the available Shopping controls to select the item you feature. Viewers can open the tagged list through the Shopping control when it is available to them.
- Pin the featured item. YouTube’s live-shopping instructions allow creators to pin a product. Select and order products before the broadcast where possible; YouTube advises making changes at least 30 minutes before the stream for the best viewer experience because live changes may not appear for some viewers. - Check what viewers will actually see. A product shelf beside or below an eligible video or live stream may show items and prices. Selecting an item can open a preview or redirect to the official retailer. Product information is supplied by the retailer and may change; YouTube advises viewers to check the retailer for availability, pricing and purchase terms. See how viewers shop on YouTube.
Add a recurring MRP-and-offer graphic when needed
YouTube’s documented Shopping controls cover product tagging and pinning; they do not describe a native control that repeatedly displays a creator’s own MRP-and-offer-price graphic. If viewers need both amounts visible during the broadcast, prepare the graphic in your normal stream-graphics workflow and verify it against the seller’s current listing.
- Label the amounts clearly as “MRP” and “Offer price.” Do not imply that an offer is current if it has expired or its terms have changed.
- Check the product, price, availability and offer period with the retailer or seller shortly before going live. Keep the graphic synchronized if those details change during the stream.
- Make the tagged product or retailer listing easy to find as well. The graphic is your on-screen communication; Shopping gives viewers a route to product details and purchase terms.
- Do not assume every viewer sees the same Shopping surface. Region, delivery eligibility, format and content restrictions can affect product visibility. Tags may be hidden for content with claimed material, content marked Made for Kids, limited-monetization content, paid content or content blocked for ads.
YouTube’s live-shopping tips cite 30 billion watch hours of shopping-related videos on YouTube in 2023, attributed to YouTube Internal Data, Global, 2023. That figure describes viewing volume; it does not show that a price loop increases sales or conversions. See YouTube’s live-shopping tips.

Check India-facing MRP and e-commerce disclosures
For a sale directed at India, review the current requirements for the product category, seller and transaction rather than assuming one rule automatically governs every creator-led livestream. The Department of Consumer Affairs identifies the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011, and its overview describes retail sale price declarations in MRP form for covered packaged commodities. Government material also describes MRP declarations in Indian currency inclusive of taxes and e-commerce display obligations; the Department’s advisory addresses seller information supplied to marketplace platforms under the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020.
These sources make current compliance review important, but they do not determine how every YouTube live sale fits the legal definitions. Check the latest amendments and relevant seller or platform guidance for your specific product and sales path. Start with the Department of Consumer Affairs Legal Metrology resources, its Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011, and the Department’s e-commerce advisory.
