If you only need to reach the later bosses in Icecrown Citadel, walk around Valithria Dreamwalker and continue through the raid. To complete her encounter and earn its drops, heal her to full health; a character with a direct healing spell is the most reliable choice. Bandages are a possible workaround, but player reports do not establish that they work consistently across difficulties and patches.
Choose whether to skip Valithria or complete the encounter
Valithria is a healing encounter, not a boss you defeat by reducing her health to zero. The encounter ends when she is healed to full health. The door behind her has been open by default since patch 6.0.2, and a recent player discussion also describes walking around her to continue through the raid. How to handle the encounter solo
If you only want to reach later bosses
Walk around Valithria and proceed through the open route behind her. There is no need to start the encounter if you do not need her rewards.
If you want her encounter drops
Use a character with an ability that can heal a friendly NPC. Heal Valithria to full health; that is the encounter’s objective. The raid’s portals lead to the Emerald Dream, where Emerald Vigor increases healing and mana regeneration, but those mechanics are designed for the group encounter and may not be necessary for a solo attempt at current character power. If your character has no direct heal
You can try Heavy Runecloth Bandages or Mageweave Bandages, preferably on normal difficulty, but treat this as an experiment rather than a guaranteed method. A player named Sakera reported on May 3, 2026, that both types worked for them. Other player reports describe bandages being interrupted in heroic modes or failing to complete the encounter. Why portals and bandages are not equally dependable
The Emerald Dream portals and Emerald Vigor belong to the encounter’s intended group strategy. They do not change the central requirement: Valithria must be healed to full. For solo players, a direct heal addresses that requirement; bandages are a workaround supported by individual player reports, with reports of interruptions and inconsistent completion. No verified method is established for every class, difficulty, and current patch.
