Destiny 2’s Heresy chess puzzle—Bungie’s community event nicknamed “Chesstiny”—takes you to a hidden board in Eris Morn’s Throne World, where you place, delete, or convert pieces to solve a series of puzzles. The community had solved the activity by May 1, 2025, when Bungie confirmed the outcome and rewards. This guide follows the community-posted 27-round Midgame sequence; its move list is not an official Bungie solution. Bungie’s May 1, 2025 recap confirms the community puzzle and its completion.
How to reach the chessboard
The board is in a hidden room reached through Eris Morn’s Flat and her Throne World. The 2025 walkthrough reports two ways to access the activity: collect all 60 chess pieces to unlock it, or join a player who has already unlocked it. The walkthrough also says the first step of the En Passant Triumph is completing five chess puzzles in Unknown Space. How the board controls work
This is a bespoke in-game puzzle, not a standard chess match. Stand on the plate for the action or piece you want, then shoot the target tile. The on-screen action budget limits how many moves you can make in a puzzle.

- Piece plates: add or move the selected piece to the tile you shoot.
- Delete: removes the piece on the tile you shoot.
- Convert: changes the piece on the selected tile.
- Undo: reverses the previous move.
- Start Over: resets the board.
Bungie Help’s support reply describes the puzzle loop as solving 27 puzzles by adding, converting, or removing pieces. It also notes that players can reach an impasse. Bungie Help’s “Chess puzzle bug” thread contains that explanation.
Midgame: the 27-round community solution
Use each entry as action or piece plate, then target square. “Delete” and “Convert” are actions; other entries name the piece plate. This is the full sequence posted by community member Salt on Bungie.net, not an official Bungie-authored move list. GameSpot published a list with a different order and some different piece or action details, so do not mix the two sequences within one board state. See the community-posted 27/27 sequence.

Endgame: final board arrangement
The Endgame solution is a final board arrangement, rather than another move list. The community post credits solver Milo, also known as MrRoflWaffles, and the collaborative solving effort. It lists the squares from right to left; the piece type is followed here by its squares for easier checking. The community Endgame solution post also describes access and rewards.

What rewards were reported?
Bungie’s recap confirms exclusive rewards and a cryptic cinematic, but does not name the individual items. GameSpot reported Strange Coins, Ascendant Shards, Curios, an Exotic Cypher, the Enigmatology emblem, the Umbral Rumble shader, and the Deinterlace Exotic ship. Treat that item list as guide reporting, not as official current reward documentation. Bungie’s recap confirms the broader outcome.
The access, solution, and reward details cited here were published in 2025. Their availability in the 2026 game build has not been established by those sources.
