To complete Deciphering Darkness, interact with the Dark Vessel at Locus Point in Voidstorm, then swap nodes until connected nodes are next to each other and their connecting lines turn solid blue. Finish all three puzzle rounds. Your board may not match another player’s layout, so follow the connections shown in your own puzzle rather than copying a fixed picture.
Where to find Deciphering Darkness
Deciphering Darkness is a level 90 World Quest in Voidstorm. Go to Locus Point and interact with the Dark Vessel to begin “Dark Vessel deciphered,” a task attributed to Lady Darkglen. The quest reference lists it as added in Patch 12.0.1 on February 10, 2026. Warcraft Wiki’s quest entry lists rewards of 11,750 XP and 75 reputation with The Singularity; check the live in-game tooltip if you need the current exact amounts, since game data can change.
How the node puzzle works
The board shows nodes joined by lines. Your goal is to rearrange the nodes so that connected “buddy” nodes sit next to each other. After a swap, watch the relevant connection: a solid blue line indicates that the linked nodes are correctly positioned, as described in Wowhead player explanations and a March 2026 walkthrough.
- Select a node, then select another node to swap their positions.
- Check the connecting lines after each swap. Use the blue-line feedback to see whether a connection is now correct.
- Continue rearranging nodes until the connections are correct, then complete the next round. The reported objective has three rounds in total.
Solving a square layout with overlapping lines
Some players report a square board where lines overlap, making it difficult to trace which nodes are connected. Blizzard forum discussions document this kind of player confusion, but do not establish a single universal board or a confirmed bug.

Use the number of links on each node as a clue: nodes with more connections may need positions where they can reach more neighbors. Treat that as a starting heuristic, not a fixed solution. Make a swap, inspect which lines turn blue, and adjust based on the connections visible on your board. Layout reports differ, so there is no established universal pictured arrangement to reproduce.

Players have reported trouble selecting nodes, particularly when lines overlap or the interface feels awkward. Try clicking carefully on the node itself, then use the line-color feedback after the swap to confirm what changed. These are player-reported difficulties, not verified evidence of a universal input bug or official troubleshooting instructions.
