Start by checking Ubisoft’s service status, then compare Ubisoft Connect with another download or connection test. If other services are slow too, investigate your internet connection, router, Wi-Fi or shared network; if only Ubisoft Connect is affected, focus on the app, Ubisoft’s service or the route to it. Ubisoft does not establish a universal expected download speed or a current general speed cap in its troubleshooting guidance.
1. Check whether Ubisoft’s service is having problems
Before changing your PC or network, check Ubisoft’s Help site service updates. If Ubisoft reports an outage or degradation, local changes such as resetting your router may not help; try again after service recovers.

2. Compare Ubisoft Connect with other downloads
Try another game download or a connection test, ideally on the same PC. Keep the units straight when comparing: internet tests often report megabits per second (Mbps), while a launcher may show megabytes per second (MB/s). Eight megabits equal one megabyte, so the figures are not directly interchangeable.
- Several services or devices are slow: investigate your ISP, router, Wi-Fi coverage or network congestion.
- Only Ubisoft Connect is slow: an app-specific issue, Ubisoft service conditions or the route between your connection and Ubisoft are more plausible, but the comparison alone does not identify the cause.
3. Test the network connection
Try Ethernet
If possible, connect the PC to the router with an Ethernet cable and test again. Ubisoft recommends a wired connection for the most reliable and steady results. This is a useful way to check whether Wi-Fi instability is involved, not a guarantee that every setup will download faster.

Restart the router
Power-cycle the router, let it reconnect fully, and retry the download. If you are on a school, workplace or other managed network, ask its administrator whether downloads or network traffic are restricted. Ubisoft also recommends checking for external network restrictions and running a ping test as part of connectivity troubleshooting; see its PC connectivity guide.
4. Check Windows and Ubisoft Connect
Install available Windows updates; Ubisoft notes that these can also update network drivers. Check whether other software may be conflicting with the connection, and make sure Ubisoft Connect is up to date. Ubisoft lists an outdated client as a possible cause of service-unavailable errors. Follow Ubisoft’s connectivity troubleshooting guidance and app troubleshooting guidance for the applicable steps.

5. If a download will not start or gets stuck, check storage
Verify that the drive selected for the game has enough free space for that game’s stated requirement. Ubisoft says insufficient storage can prevent a download from starting; freeing space can address that installation problem, but it does not increase internet bandwidth. Also check internet connectivity, Ubisoft service maintenance, app permissions and whether Connect is current. See Ubisoft’s download troubleshooting guidance.
6. Clear the Connect cache only if troubleshooting warrants it
Ubisoft documents cache clearing as a way to resolve some technical issues, not as a download-speed enhancement. To try it, close Ubisoft Connect completely, rename the cache folders below, then relaunch the app. Connect creates new cache folders automatically.

- Rename the folder at
C:Program Files (x86)UbisoftUbisoft Game Launchercache. - Rename the folder at
%LOCALAPPDATA%Ubisoft Game Launchercache. - Start Ubisoft Connect again and see whether the technical problem is resolved.
Use Ubisoft’s cache-clearing instructions if you need the official procedure.
7. Contact Ubisoft Support if the problem persists
If service status, connection comparisons, network checks and app troubleshooting do not resolve the issue, contact Ubisoft Support. Ubisoft asks users to attach DxDiag and MSInfo reports when seeking technical help; its diagnostic-report instructions explain how to prepare them. Consider reinstalling Connect only after simpler checks, and back up save files first if you want to retain them. Review Ubisoft’s reinstall options carefully if you also want to keep installed games and local saves.

Is there a download-speed cap setting?
The available official troubleshooting guidance does not establish a current universal Ubisoft Connect speed cap, a current bandwidth-limit control or a standard expected speed. Ubisoft published a 2020 notice about temporary bandwidth adaptations during the COVID-19 pandemic, referring to Uplay download preferences in that historical context. It should not be treated as evidence of a current cap or present-day settings path.
