There is no YouTube-set percentage for splitting a channel’s income between collaborators. YouTube pays or credits the channel partner under the applicable monetization terms; the collaborators then need a separate written agreement defining how they divide the money actually received. Do not assume that YouTube’s platform revenue shares, or a customary 50/50 split, decide your private arrangement.
Keep YouTube’s share separate from your collaborators’ split
YouTube’s partner agreement and monetization modules govern what the channel partner earns from YouTube. They do not determine what two or more people working on the channel owe one another. First identify the platform-side receipts, then apply the collaborators’ own agreed formula to the amount they have defined as distributable.
YouTube’s current earnings overview says the Commerce Product Module pays the partner 70% of net revenues from channel memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Super Thanks. The Watch Page Monetization Module pays the partner 55% of net revenues from ads shown or streamed on public videos on the content Watch Page. These are YouTube-to-partner module rates—not recommended collaborator splits. Check the channel’s current signed agreement and modules in YouTube Studio before using a rate in your calculations. YouTube also lists YouTube Premium and Shopping among its monetization features. A channel’s available features and applicable terms can vary; confirm the relevant module or agreement rather than assuming that every revenue source is available or covered by the same terms.

Choose a split by agreeing on the work, costs, and risk
There is no universal collaborator percentage established by YouTube. A 50/50 split may suit a particular partnership, but it is not a platform rule or a default that fits every 24/7 stream. Compare proposals using the actual arrangement:
- Recurring time and responsibility: Who handles programming, stream setup and maintenance, moderation, technical operations, audience development, and coverage when something needs attention?
- Money and resources contributed: Who pays for equipment, software, music or other rights, and operating costs?
- What each person brings: Does someone provide the channel, audience, format, content, brand, or other intellectual property?
- Risk carried: Who is exposed if rights issues, policy decisions, payment adjustments, or interruptions affect the project?
- Initial work versus continuing work: Does the proposal recognize setup alone, ongoing duties, or both—and should the formula change if responsibilities change?
These are negotiation factors, not a YouTube formula. If duties or contributions change, specify whether the split stays fixed or can be reviewed under an agreed process.

Put the payment rules in writing before relying on revenue
Record the terms in an agreement that reflects your actual channel, collaborators, and jurisdiction. Avoid relying on an informal understanding of “ad revenue” or “net”; define what those words mean for this arrangement.
- List covered income. State whether the deal includes watch-page ads, memberships, Super Chat and Super Stickers, Super Thanks, YouTube Premium, Shopping, and separately negotiated sponsorships. Say whether income from unrelated videos or other channels is excluded.
- Define the calculation base. Specify whether the split applies to finalized platform receipts, after which platform deductions or refunds, and which documented operating expenses may be deducted first. Distinguish platform-level “net revenues” from the collaborators’ own definition of distributable cash.
- Set the allocation formula. Write each person’s percentage or another clear formula, what contributions it recognizes, and whether it changes when duties, expenses, or rights contributions change.
- Agree on reserves and corrections. Decide whether funds are held back for project costs or reversals, how invalid-traffic or Content ID adjustments, refunds, and late corrections affect past distributions, and how an overpayment will be reconciled.
- Set reporting and payment procedures. Name who can access the relevant Analytics and finalized payment records, how often statements are shared, when and how collaborators are paid, any minimum distribution amount, and how someone can raise a discrepancy. State which record controls if estimated and finalized amounts differ.
- Cover control, rights, and exit. Address channel and account control, content and music rights, brand assets, responsibilities for continuous-stream operations, account access through appropriate channel permissions, termination, and previously earned but unpaid amounts. YouTube’s partner guidance does not settle ownership or legal rights between collaborators.
- Record tax and payment responsibilities. State who receives YouTube’s platform payments and what records each collaborator receives. Tax treatment depends on residence and circumstances; YouTube advises creators to consult a tax professional for tax questions.
Base distributions on finalized figures, not a live estimate
YouTube says estimated earnings may change after they are generated because of invalid traffic, Content ID claims, disputes, or certain ad campaign types. Finalized earnings appear in AdSense for YouTube; YouTube says the previous month’s earnings are generally added between the 7th and 12th of the current month. Payout timing also depends on thresholds, holds, tax information, and policy compliance. YouTube states: “There are no guarantees under the YouTube partner agreement about how much or whether you’ll be paid.” That uncertainty is another reason to define a process for statements, adjustments, and delayed or absent receipts instead of promising a fixed amount.

Account for monetization and rights risks on a 24/7 stream
A continuous schedule does not exempt a live stream from YouTube monetization policies. YouTube’s monetization policies expressly apply to live streams, and content or channel issues can limit or eliminate earnings. YouTube may withhold or adjust earnings associated with violations or Content ID claims. Agree in advance how collaborators will respond to a claim, who is responsible for resolving rights issues, and how any resulting adjustment affects distributions. Fan-funding features are conditional. YouTube says creators must join the YouTube Partner Program, be at least 18, live in a region where the feature is available, meet feature-specific criteria, use the relevant module or addendum, and comply with applicable policies.
