Choose your faction’s opening

Blizzard’s Battle for Azeroth launch article identifies Kul Tiras as the Alliance destination and Zandalar as the Horde destination. It is useful for those destinations, but it is not a current guide to leveling eligibility or quest availability. The Horde opening name is supported by a 2020 Blizzard forum post quoting a support response; the available evidence does not establish that every character will see it in the same way today.
Starting BfA while leveling
Blizzard’s Dragonflight-era leveling guidance says that new players who complete Exile’s Reach proceed into Battle for Azeroth. It also describes a choice at level 10: continue through BfA or speak with Chromie to select a Timewalking Campaign. That guidance describes the leveling system at the time it was published; it does not establish identical Chromie eligibility for every current character or account history.
- Continue the BfA route: follow the faction introduction toward Kul Tiras or Zandalar.
- Choose another campaign: if Chromie’s Timewalking Campaign option is available to your character, you can select a different leveling route instead.
What comes after the introduction
The War Campaign is not the entry quest. It follows the opening BfA quests. Blizzard’s War Campaign recap describes its first quest, The War Campaign, as an introduction to War Resources; a later mission introduces the mission table.

If the opening quest is missing
The available official guidance does not provide one current NPC location or eligibility rule that covers every faction, level, and account history. Check the quest markers in your faction capital and your quest log for the introduction name listed above. If it still does not appear, the character’s current in-game state or Blizzard Support is a more reliable guide than old launch-era instructions.
