In OBS, use a VLC Video Source with a playlist of ambience clips and enable Loop Playlist; turn on Shuffle Playlist if you want the clips in randomized order. For one clip that should repeat, use a Media Source and enable Loop.
Choose the OBS source that matches your videos

OBS’s [Media Sources documentation](https://obsproject.com/kb/media-sources) describes these controls and lists Windows, macOS, and Linux support. The page is dated January 11, 2022; it does not specify a software version.
Set up a playlist of sleep ambience videos in OBS
- Prepare your clips. Put the ambience video files you want to use in an accessible local folder. Check that they play correctly before adding them to OBS.
- Install VLC if needed. OBS’s VLC Video Source depends on VLC being installed. Match the architecture: if you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC.
- Add the source. In OBS, use the Sources panel’s + button and select VLC Video Source. Give it a recognizable name, such as “Sleep ambience playlist.”
- Load the files. In the source properties, add the local video files to the playlist. Arrange them in the order you want if you prefer a fixed sequence.
- Choose how playback repeats. Enable Loop Playlist so playback begins again after the final clip. Enable Shuffle Playlist if you want OBS to randomize the file order rather than follow the listed sequence.
- Check the result in the OBS preview. Start playback and confirm the clips appear as expected. If the source is blank or a clip does not play, verify the file path and VLC installation.
For a single file instead, add a Media Source, select the video, and enable Loop. That restarts the same video when it ends; it does not rotate among different clips. See OBS’s [Media Sources documentation](https://obsproject.com/kb/media-sources).
Check that you changed the encoder loop, not YouTube playback
YouTube’s player-side Loop control repeats playback for a viewer watching a video or playlist. It does not change the live scene OBS sends to YouTube. The stream’s visuals come from the encoder input, so adjust the OBS source or playlist when the live broadcast repeats one video. YouTube explains player looping in its (https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/10788593).

Looping clips is not the same as keeping a stream online
A loop or playlist controls what OBS plays while the software and source are running. It does not by itself keep a stream going through a computer shutdown, power loss, network interruption, or software failure. The OBS media-source documentation describes playback behavior, not an uptime guarantee. YouTube’s [live-streaming encoder setup guidance](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2907883) explains how an encoder sends its feed; it does not make a local looping source a substitute for a running, connected encoder.
Treat playback and availability as separate checks: first confirm the playlist advances in OBS; then make sure the computer, OBS, and network remain available for the broadcast. Do not assume that enabling Loop Playlist provides automatic recovery after an outage.

Keep your YouTube stream key private
OBS needs the YouTube stream key to send the encoder feed to your channel. Treat it like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a stream to the associated broadcast. YouTube’s [encoder setup instructions](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2907883) describe the key’s role. Do not post it in a screenshot, chat, or public playlist description.
