Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf every lesson starts with an intro card, OBS will repeat it because it is part of each video file. Make intro-free copies or edit the lessons, then loop the cleaned files. If the card is a separate OBS source, configure it to appear only once or when intended. OBS does not document an automatic intro-card detector or remover.
First identify where the intro card comes from
- It is inside every lesson video: Remove it from each file or export intro-free copies. A playlist repeats its media files as they are; it cannot skip an opening that is baked into a file.
- It is a separate OBS image, video, or scene element: Keep it separate from the lesson playlist and control its visibility so it appears only at the intended point. Check the scene and source visibility rather than changing the lesson files.
OBS documents media sources and playlists, not automatic detection or removal of intro cards. The distinction above follows from how those sources play media.
Prepare lessons for a clean loop
Remove repeated cards from the lesson files
- Make a copy of each source lesson before editing, so the original remains available.
- Trim the opening card from each copy, or export a version that starts at the lesson content. Check that the edit does not cut off spoken words, captions, or a useful transition.
- Use clear filenames and arrange the prepared lessons in the desired sequence. Play through the sequence before broadcasting to catch accidental gaps, duplicate files, or abrupt transitions.
Keep a single opening card if the stream needs one
If viewers should see an opening only when the broadcast begins, add the card as a separate OBS source rather than embedding it in every lesson. Make it visible for the opening, then hide it while the playlist plays. Preview the scene transition and ensure the card does not remain layered over the lesson.
Set up looping in OBS
For a playlist of multiple lessons
- Install VLC if it is not already installed. OBS’s VLC Video source requires VLC; 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.
- In OBS, add a VLC Video source to the scene that will show the lessons.
- Add the intro-free lesson files to its playlist in the order you want them to play.
- Enable Loop Playlist so OBS returns to the beginning after the last file.
- Preview the complete playlist order and check the start and end of each lesson before going live.
For one lesson file that repeats
- Add a Media Source to the OBS scene.
- Select the lesson file and enable its Loop setting.
- Preview the point where playback wraps from the end to the start. If the file contains an intro card, it will appear again on every loop; edit the file if that is not wanted.
OBS documents these as separate controls: Loop for a single Media Source file and Loop Playlist for a VLC Video playlist.

Check YouTube setup and monitor the broadcast
Before relying on an always-on broadcast, confirm that the channel is eligible for live streaming in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. The page also lists active-stream limits, which can change; check the current YouTube live-streaming eligibility guidance for the requirements that apply to your channel.
Use YouTube Live Control Room to preview the incoming stream before making it public, and monitor audio and video while it is running. YouTube’s encoder and live-streaming guidance covers setup and monitoring. Confirm that lesson audio is audible, the picture is correct, and the stream is showing the intended OBS scene.

Account for archives, rights, and monetization policy
Do not assume a 24/7 broadcast will create a complete replay
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived; a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If a complete replay matters, plan for local recording or divide the broadcast into shorter segments. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.
Check rights for every lesson and its included media
You are responsible for having the necessary rights to stream the lessons and any included music or third-party material. YouTube’s live-stream terms require streamed content to comply with its Community Guidelines and require the provider to have the necessary rights for use on Google services.

Repeated cards are not the only monetization consideration
YouTube’s monetization policy says the same intro and outro can be acceptable when the bulk of each video is different. It also warns that highly repetitive or interchangeable content with little educational value may be ineligible for monetization; the policy examples apply to live streaming as well as other video formats. This is a channel and content policy, not a guarantee about how YouTube will assess a particular stream. See the YouTube channel monetization policies, updated July 15, 2025.
Troubleshoot repeated cards and playlist behavior
- The card returns between lessons: It is probably embedded in each file. Create intro-free copies; changing the playlist loop setting will not remove content from inside a lesson.
- The card stays over the lesson: Check whether it is a separate source in the active scene and hide it when the lesson begins.
- The playlist does not advance or loop: Confirm that the files are in the VLC Video playlist and that Loop Playlist is enabled.
- OBS cannot use the VLC Video source correctly: Install VLC and ensure its architecture matches OBS; OBS specifies 64-bit VLC for 64-bit OBS.
- The live stream looks or sounds wrong: Preview it in Live Control Room and monitor the actual broadcast, not only the OBS preview.
- The full broadcast is missing from the archive: A stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured by YouTube. Use local recording or planned shorter segments if you need a full replay.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a YouTube stream made from uploaded lessons, StreamNeo is an alternative to keeping OBS running on a local computer. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded videos from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on.
