These steps address common duplicate-rendering and alert-echo causes; they do not establish a universal fix for every 24/7 reconnect issue.
First determine what is actually duplicated
A duplicate-looking alert can have different causes: one Super Chat may be rendered twice, a provider alert may be echoing, or two genuine Super Chat events may have occurred. Compare the YouTube event or chat record with what appeared in the stream before treating two overlays as one repeated event. The official guidance discussed here covers duplicate rendering and alert echo; it does not establish a universal YouTube replay mechanism for Super Chats.
OBS Studio does not provide alerts directly. Third-party alerts are added to OBS as Browser Sources, so the display path can include both a provider widget and one or more sources in the streaming software. OBS Project explains how stream overlays are added.
Remove duplicate alert paths in OBS
- Close extra alert windows. On the streaming computer, close additional alert pop-outs or provider preview windows. Streamlabs lists extra pop-out windows as a possible source of alert echo.
- Inspect every scene used by the broadcast. In OBS, select each scene that the 24/7 broadcast uses and check its Sources list. Look for multiple Alert Box widgets or Browser Sources pointing to the same alert service. A source in a different scene can still matter if the broadcast switches to that scene.
- Choose one intended integration route. Streamlabs documents adding its Alert Box through Streamlabs Desktop, its OBS plugin, or a browser-source widget URL in other streaming software. Confirm which route your current alert uses and remove unintended duplicate renderers rather than assuming these are the same source.
- Check the provider’s account and event selection. Confirm that the alert is configured for the intended YouTube account and Super Chat event. If accounts are linked, check whether a shared widget URL can receive events from more than one account.
- Apply the OBS echo setting where relevant. For each applicable Browser Source, open its properties and enable Shutdown when not active. Streamlabs recommends checking every relevant browser source in every scene.
- Recreate a persistent echoing source. If the previous check does not help, Streamlabs recommends removing and remaking the Browser Source.
- Test after changes. Use the provider’s test function, then watch the output in the intended scene to confirm that it appears once.
Streamlabs’ documented echo steps are vendor troubleshooting guidance, not a guarantee for every cause or for behavior after every later reconnect. Its help page defines alert echo as an alert repeating in the background on the computer or in streaming software: Streamlabs alert-echo troubleshooting.

Know which Streamlabs settings apply to your source
Streamlabs says linked accounts may send events through one widget URL. It also distinguishes browser-source widget URLs from Alert Box sources added through Streamlabs Desktop or the Streamlabs OBS plugin:
- Event filtering applies to browser-source widget URLs.
- Filtering does not change Alert Box sources added through Streamlabs Desktop or the Streamlabs OBS plugin.
So before changing a filter, identify how the alert was added. A filter setting for a browser-source URL should not be assumed to affect a native Desktop or plugin Alert Box. See Streamlabs’ guidance on event filters and setting up its Alert Box.

If the alert still repeats
- The same visual alert appears twice, but YouTube records one event: look again for another active pop-out, source, or scene rendering the same widget.
- The event appears to come from another account: review linked-account selection and whether multiple accounts share the widget URL.
- YouTube records two Super Chats: treat them as two events unless the channel’s event record shows otherwise; duplicate-looking graphics alone do not prove a replay.
- The echo returns after a reconnect: the documented Streamlabs steps are useful checks, but the official sources reviewed do not specify a 24/7 reconnect test protocol or guarantee persistence and reconnection behavior. Retest the scene after reconnecting rather than assuming one successful test covers every future reconnect.
