Listeners then tune in through an Icecast mountpoint. OCI Streaming is for real-time event and data streams, while OCI Media Services processes and delivers packaged video; neither is documented as a turnkey continuous-audio radio endpoint. This guide covers audio radio, not a YouTube-style video stream.
Choose the right kind of channel
“Music channel” can mean audio radio or a video stream with devotional imagery. The audio-radio path below uses Icecast. Oracle’s Media Services overview, updated October 17, 2024, describes Media Flow processing video sources into adaptive-bitrate packages in Object Storage and Media Streams delivering packaged video such as HLS. That describes a video workflow, not a drop-in audio radio server: Oracle Media Services overview.
OCI Streaming is another easy-to-misread name. Oracle documents it as a managed service for ingesting and consuming high-volume, real-time data streams, with pricing dimensions that include data transfer and retained storage. It is not the same as a server delivering music to listeners: OCI Streaming FAQ.
Understand the audio architecture
A conventional internet radio service has a source client that sends encoded audio to a streaming server, and listeners who connect to a named mountpoint on that server. Icecast describes the division this way: “The component providing the content (what we call source clients) and the component which is responsible for serving that content to listeners (this is the function of Icecast).” See the Icecast documentation.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The conceptual path is:
Audio files or live performer → source client/encoder → authenticated Icecast mountpoint on OCI compute → listeners and their players
For an initial deployment, host Icecast on an OCI compute instance and run an audio player or encoder as the source client. The source can run on the same machine or a separate one. Separating the roles can make restarts and resource isolation easier, but adds another component to secure and supervise. This is an architecture based on OCI hosting and Icecast’s documented component model, not a tested OCI build recipe.

Plan region and capacity
Choose the OCI region that makes sense for your expected audience and deployment, then estimate listener traffic and compute needs before selecting an instance. If the source encodes audio on OCI, allow for that workload; producing multiple formats or bitrate variants adds work. Oracle’s live regional price list is the place to check compute and storage rates for the tenancy’s region: Oracle Cloud Infrastructure price list. The cited live rate card is Oracle India’s regional page and does not establish universal prices; verify current rates for your actual region and date.
-
Install and configure Icecast
Deploy Icecast on the OCI instance and configure the source password and mountpoint. A mountpoint is the path listeners use to access a particular stream; multiple mountpoints can serve separate streams or quality variants. Icecast’s setup documentation explains the source/server/listener arrangement: Icecast Basic Setup. Protect source and administrative credentials, restrict administrative access, and expose only the ports needed for the service.

-
Choose the source and audio format
Use a source client that can continuously play a sequenced playlist, or accept a live feed from a performer, and send it to the configured Icecast mountpoint. Icecast’s overview documents MP3 and Ogg Vorbis support; check compatibility against the installed Icecast build and the players your listeners are likely to use: Icecast documentation. Configure encrypted listener delivery if it is part of your public endpoint setup.
-
Publish a stable listener address
Give listeners the public mountpoint URL and test it from an external network and with the intended player apps. Confirm that playback starts, continues, and reconnects as expected; a source connection succeeding on the server does not by itself prove every listener can reach it.

Keep playback running and recover from failures
A continuous service needs more than a playlist: supervise the source process so it can restart after failure, and decide what listeners should hear if the source disconnects. Icecast supports configurable client and source limits and fallback mounts or files, including behavior when a source is down. Fallback formats need to match, and the behavior should be tested with actual listener clients. These options reduce some interruption modes; they do not by themselves create a fully redundant, high-availability service. See the Icecast configuration documentation.
For operations, monitor source connection state, listener count, server resources, disk space for playlists and logs, network throughput, and availability of the public mountpoint from outside the instance. Alert on source disconnects and sustained failures. Keep fallback audio or a second source ready if your service expectations justify it. Monitoring and security practices require their own configuration; they are not automatic protections supplied simply by hosting on OCI.

Estimate the cost for your audience
Listener egress grows with audio bitrate, listener count, and listening hours. Compute requirements depend in part on whether audio encoding happens on OCI and how many streams or variants you produce. Include storage, backups, and any CDN or DNS costs that apply to your design. OCI Streaming’s transfer and storage pricing dimensions should not be treated as a direct estimate of Icecast listener traffic; Icecast is an application hosted on compute. Use the current rate card for the deployment region and your workload assumptions rather than a universal monthly figure. Oracle’s live rate card is at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure pricing.
Clear rights before broadcasting
Before loading tracks, establish who controls the composition, lyrics, sound recording, and performances, and what online communication or broadcast permissions apply to your service and each territory you intend to reach. A devotional theme or an old composition does not establish that a particular recording or arrangement is free to broadcast. Ask the relevant rights holders or a qualified local lawyer about the permissions required. Do not assume an ordinary consumer music subscription grants rebroadcast rights.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is specifically a pre-recorded devotional video playing continuously on YouTube rather than audio radio, StreamNeo is a separate option: upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It runs from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home; your uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. It plays uploaded videos to YouTube; it is not an audio-radio endpoint or a camera livestream service. See StreamNeo, or start the free day.
